"He's a hard worker, and he watched me and Tim (Hardaway Jr.) and Nik (Stauksas) put work in to become (first-round picks), and I'm just happy he's getting better," Burke said. Brian, thank you for your insights and interest. Those of us who love the beautiful game appreciate it.

Mark Geiger is the first American referee to be involved in a World Cup semi. Let's hope it is a better called game than Brazil versus Columbia

One fact to bring up about soccer. More kids play soccer today in the US than any other sport.

It's not just Donovan missing from the 23 man roster. Clarence Goodson was expected to compete for a starting centerback slot and he was passed over for John Brooks, Geoff Cameron and an injured out of form Gonzales.
There is a lot of youth on this roster now with Brooks, Yedlin and Green. That points towards getting experience for Russia 2018.

Casey has not been in good form so far this season (unlike last year). On the other hand Buddle, Johnson & Gomez have been scoring. Of the three I think that EJ gives us the greatest opportunity as he has loads of pace and can finish.

Ledley King plays great for one game and unfortunately since we are the first we will get the brunt of it. Look out for Ledley's partner from Spurs, Michael Dawson, to be the one who really steps up for England
