Idk man. We haven't spent a ton of time in the top 10 ourselves in my 14-ish years following the program. In the seasons since that 2003 win over OSU:
2015: Losses to MSU and OSU kept us from ever creeping into it (highest in AP #12)
I count five seasons we never sniffed the Top 10 (08, 09, 10, 13, 14). Four that were derailed early with varying degrees of success after (04, 05, 07, 12). Two that saw us as late risers under new coaches but didn't quite reach Top 10 level (11, 15). And 2006, maybe our best team since 1997 until this year.
I'm not blaming our opponents for Michigan being irrelevant nationally for most of the past decade.

Childhood friend of mine played there. Madison and Camp Randall are great.
HOWEVA, I believe we're going to win pretty easily tomorrow.
|1 week 1 day ago||I thought those numbers||
I thought those numbers seemed off so I checked Rudock's game log. I think the comparison is misleading. Rudock versus UNLV and Oregon State:
32-48 for 303 yards (6.3 YPA) with 1 TD and 2 INT
Each had a rough game (although @Utah was certainly a tougher spot than Colorado), but Speight showed far more precision and downfield passing against the weaker foes than did Rudock. Speight versus Hawaii and UCF:
35-50 for 457 yards (9.1 YPA) with 7 TD and 1 INT
Wilton may not reach the level Rudock hit late in 2015, but if the OL can protect better than last week, I expect he'll limit mistakes and make plenty of good throws. How the OL and QB fare in the games circled before the season (Wisconsin, @MSU, @Iowa, @Ohio State) featuring strong defenses will probably decide UM's fate. That and if our D can figure out the Buckeyes spread-n-shred.

He's promoting this Fairlife Milk he's working with. Also I think he had fun. Even the hardest of workers have time to take 10 minutes off on a Tuesday to have a laugh.

The comments below from show listeners versus non-listeners was probably worth this post. It's may be the most love/hate program in all of sports media with no in-between.

He was on at some point over the summer. If I recall correctly, it went pretty well. That being said, all it takes is one question he doesn't like for the interview to go off the rails and fail spectacularly.
|2 weeks 21 hours ago||That group lost pretty much||
That group lost pretty much all the leadership of previous teams (Lester Abram, Dion Harris, Courtney Sims, Brent Petway), instead passing the reigns to freshman Manny Harris who was a headcase volume scorer. Obviously talented, but Manny had a TON of growing up to do. Sophomore Sims was uneven and in his first season as a starter. Sophomore Udoh was an incredibly athletic rim protector, but too raw to be much more at the time. Later a high draft pick, but that was all for potential and turned into a bust.
Sure, he had more talent than 10-22 suggests, but that team was destined to be a mess whether it was Amaker, Beilein, or John Wooden. The bounceback in Year 2 with freshmen Douglass and Novak despite the loss of Udoh was well worth bottoming out for, and not entirely a first year coach's fault.
|2 weeks 22 hours ago||To be fair, he came into a||
To be fair, he came into a terrible situation. Throw out his first season, which was not his fault at all and that number rises to .639, the man deserves at least that. It is fair to say, though, that the LeVert/Irvin/Walton era has been a failure. Caris couldn't stay on the court, and neither Irvin nor Walton developed into more than solid B1G starters. Factor in Kam Chatman, major bust recruit, and the assumed core of 2014-2016 massively underachieved.
The 2016-17 classes should define the third act of Beilein's tenure as UM's head coach. If those groups can play better defense and recapture the offensive magic of previous teams, we should be an annual B1G and Sweet 16 contender again. Whether the fresh blood (including the final scholarship that hasn't been handed out yet) or new assistants can help make that happen or it remains to be seen.

Feels like another bubble season, which makes 7th sound about right. The two X-factors for UM will be Wagner and Simpson. If Wagner takes a big step forward and/or Simpson is a high-level B1G player as a freshman, the ceiling could rise a bit.

They've been as high on Michigan as anybody, I wouldn't say they're late to the party. It's just the way headlines are written these days.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Well if you're worried a team||
Well if you're worried a team passed us because they had a more impressive win in a given week, the fact that their schedule is garbage should be encouraging. Louisville may be the only game left that even holds a candle to any one of Penn State, Wisconsin, @MSU, @Iowa, and @OSU. We have several chances to pass them, and in the Playoff era, worrying about any single team is very silly.

Agreed, I find the Ringer oddly preachy. I don't read nearly as much of it as I did Grantland, but it's worth checking out from time to time.

It will be a bummer for 2-3 guys, a boon for a handful more, and the rest were never considered for redshirts. Also, because of the way college football is these days, it wouldn't be a big surprise for a couple to get their redshirt anyway due to a transfer or a medical year at some point in their career.

OVER 62 in the IU game and UNDER 56 in the Minnesota game feel pretty easy to me. Also both B1G teams win, but in shootout fashion for IU and ugly fashion for Minnesota.

As an early enrollee, I'd be pretty much positive this is so. Considering how raw he seemed per reports, I'd figure it doubtful he would contribute at even Rutgers without a fall camp's worth of work anyway.
|4 weeks 3 days ago||I think Chesson's breakoutend||
I think Chesson's breakoutend to the season and NFL upside are why he's given more credit nationally. Darboh may yet have the better season, but I think we more or less know what he is. More of a Hemingway/Avant type that still has a shot to play in the NFL a long time but will never be a Biletnikoff contender or high-end NFL receiver. Chesson may not accomplish those feats either, but his unique speed/height combo gives him a higher ceiling.

Hoping we formally get that QB announcement. Also would like to see a two-deep. I don't think there is really any "gamesmanship" advantage keeping this stuff away from Hawaii (or UCF and Colorado for that matter).

I'd be pretty surprised if a redshirt junior Ways doesn't win one of the two starting WR spots next year. Based off practice hype, willingness as a blocker, improved hands, and likely the most experience, he should at least be a steady hand as WR2.

I know it's a niche "position" but I see O'Maury Samuels as more of a Hybrid RB/Slot or Space Back (whatever it is we end up calling it) than a true Harbaugh RB.

Feels more and more like the only "Hello From the Future" commits that stick are the in-state or legacy kids. Getting excited about kids that haven't even started their junior high school football season was a little crazy anyway. This hurts with the high-profile players for sure, but if we have the season the fanbase is hoping for, our 2018 class will be just fine.

I generally shy away from concessions unless desparate for food... But the best strategy in the student section is to leave with 2-3 minutes left in the 2nd quarter, hit the restroom, grab your food, and polish it off at halftime while everybody takes a break from standing.

We are only 12 days from Game Week 1. The summer sports doldrums are ending as the boys in blue are at work in camp. I don't want to get too excited until we get that monkey off our back either, but why be on the internet if all you're going to do is make the same tired "joke" for 2 more months?

I hate the SEC's FCS Saturday in November as much as anybody... But Bama has USC (neutral), @Ole Miss, @Arkansas, @Tennessee, and @LSU this year. I would schedule Kent State, Western Kentucky (#6 in Connelly's Group of 5 rankings btw), and Chattanooga too if faced with that gauntlet.
