I reset my password and logged in to tell you what an absolutely fantastic article this is. I've sent it to several people. The article carries you through the final moments of that competition while providing the context and background to truly appreciate it.
Thanks for posting this. I posted in the earlier thread, but I know Greer personally and this day has been brutal. The random conjecture and wild accusations were rough.
Greer is really and truly a good person. His integrity is being impugned on a bunch of different sites today and it's really unfortunate.
I'm not a frequent poster, but I've been part of the community for a while now, and felt it was important to say something.
Anyway, I hope it ends here. Although I'm sure he'll be a meme on this site for a couple days :)

I was biting my tongue because I know Greer personally. He's a fantastic person and has never done anything other than be supportive of Mo. This guy got dragged through the mud today and deserves to have his story heard.
On a side note: watching the wild speculation about a friend is really a unique experience. It was a good reminder of the power of the internet.

at MIS. I am not a big race fan, but I have a passion for drinking and uecker. On race day everyone picks a driver from a hat and however they finish is the draft order.
I also remember he menioned that his roomate must have been in the botony program because he had a bunch of plants growing in his closet. I giggled.
I agree the though, politics aside, the picketing of the graduation ceremony seemed to focus the attention on the speaker and not the students, which is a shame.
I've known him since he was a freshman in highschool (he is good friends with my little brother). Scooter is bright, thoughtful, funny and driven. I am excited to see him follow his dreams and I am proud to be able to help along the way.

The Lumineers- My friend's roomate from college is in this band (my friend's roomate's sister saw Ferris pass out at a 31 flavors) , but they are starting to get some national recognition
Frank Ocean- R&B is not usually my jam, but his new album is fantastic. Sings with a ton of emotion- not expected from a member of the infamous Odd Future crew.
I personally don't think it's like the Diamon situation, because the closer the time came with Jordan, the more rumblings there were about Stanford. I don't know if Tom knows a whole lot more than he is telling (silent?) but I think the OP's assessment is probably accurate.
Would love to get him in this class. He's a game changer.
I was actually going to include a quick caveat that the idea that these guys didn't play with other great players is purely a myth. What I was focusing on, however, was the amount of vitriol between the major superstars. There is no doubt that the faces of the NBA in the 80's and 90's wanted to crush each other (Bird, Magic, Dom, MJ, Isiah), and were extremely competitive. I don't think you can say that now. Lebron, Wade, Howard, Chris Paul- these guys are all buddies and trying to play together, not compete against each other.
I think another point worth mentioning is how these teams are coming together. The Celtics and the Lakes of yesteryear would go out and buy the best players. It was the team that was evil. This generation the players have more control and are calling the shots. I think alot of pepople (fans, executives, critics) are intimidated by this development. They don't like that the players are creating these dynasties and not the organizations.

He's quick, and appeared to be a good on ball defender. HIs quote after the game was something about how he prides himself on shutting down his man, and when he does that his shots will come.
I agree, the core of this team is really exciting. Add to that the 7 foot over seas player (its 8:45, I will not Google his name) who is supposed to have an NBA ready body and defensive game, and we are looking good. I also agree on the thunder analogy. Grab a couple really talented youngsters (Westbrook, Harden, Durant), throw in a couple big guys who can defend (Perkins, Ebaka) and some role players and you are looking good.

As far as celebrity run ins, I have had a couple. First of all, I don't consider U of M atheletes 'celeberities' , but I have a bunch of stories about assorted athletes.
Growing up I went to school with Alan Trammel's son. His son and I played on our middle school basketball team together. His Dad actually became out defacto head coach as the assigned head coach was an english teacher who knew more about frisbee golf than basketball.
It was fun to take the court and the other team would begin whispering "holy crap...that can't be....is that...holy crap". It was less fun when we lost every game by an average of 40 points. And this was middle school- most teams barely reached 40 points.
Toward the end of the season his son had a birthday party. It was at his house and blew my 7th grade mind (they had a cotton candy machine...in...their...house). Anyways my dad comes to pick me up and is really star struck. He idolized Trammel. Trammel opens the door and for my Dad and I run out. As I am leaving I say the following:
"Thanks for the party Mr. Trammel. By the way, you know those glove statues on the wall downstairs? I accidently knocked one off and broke it. Sorry.."
My Dad said Trammel's face turned green as he tried to hide his rage/dissapointment/plans to kill me. Without skipping a beat I smiled and said "Just kidding, see ya Monday".
My Dad half laughed and half cried the whole way home.

I think Burke looks like he has to tools to be a true game manager. I was very impressed by the work ethic he showed in his 'coming to Michigan' video series. He trains very hard and seems to have a deep passion for the game.
I agree with the rest of the statements here, namely, what Burke lacks in physical prowess, he will make up for with quickness, patience and the ability to run the offense. It was nice to have Morris last year with 7 seconds left on the shot clock, but how many of those last second plays would have been avoided if he had managed the clock better?
My buddy and I got put into Bursley my freshman year. Both of us were pretty bummed, we wanted to be on Central. Fast forward a month into school and my roomate and I go out to enjoy the nightlife. I, apparently, enjoyed it a little too much. My roomate put me to bed at 3:00am. At 7:00am I woke up with a citation on my chest that informed me that I had peed, not only in the hallway, but on my RA's door. Worse yet, my RA opened the door and I apparently peed all over his legs.
I felt terrible. My parents felt worse. My RA felt worsest. In my disciplinary meeting, I was told I had "irrevocably damaged the fabric of my community" and would be moved to Central campus. Being an 18 year old jerk, I said "good, that's where I wanted to be anyway". Idiot. She smiled and informed me that I would be moved to Baits instead. Further North and no cafeteria. Parents were none too happy. On the bright side, my new roomate in Baits is still a close friend of mine.
When the kid walking on the treadmill gives an enthusiastic thumbs up, someone broke into my office and started cutting up giant, genetically engineered onions. Those jerks.
