schmubbermatch. here's to sparty falling to IU then OSU and OSU losing it's game agin NW as well. Hail to the Seniors, Tremendous team and coaching job.
...couldn't stop watching the Marinovich Story. Not oranges to oranges but keep relating this tale to that of young man tate and RR. It would be very interesting to get Brown's take on this story since USC did not help him stay on track. Perhaps, he should have opted for the Camper Van lifestyle, played Ultimate, and told his parents to read L'etranger but alas he went to USC and the Raiders. Don't ride the white horse.
life during wartime and crosseyed and painless. Fine by me. Les Miles is the only option that would seriously worry me at this point. Balls of Steel vs. Hoke-a-mania would be tantalizing. Long live the mekons.
no way UGA hires RR. Richt has Bo-like numbers over a long run and UGA might be best served to let him continue unless this team tanks AND/OR they can hit that elusive home run hire. RR's baggage upon leaving WV and with stretch gate are going to be a factor in where he lands.
Ole Miss seems like a decent fit for RR or I could see Louisville, possibly UK. RR and Cal would be a pair of deuces, and maybe Castell would go to UK?
Arizona should go all peyote-astral plane and hire the HAWK.
Notre Dame is completely irrelevant once they lose their 2nd game of the season theory and root for them since it makes us look better axiom as well as the its always FUN to see them lose correlary.
anybody? Atlanta and GA have many disgrunted SEC and ACC fans. Good school in a big market I would like to see get killed in BIG 10 play in perpetua and loosen vice grip of SEC on the south with respect to recruiting and brand. See also Florida State.
for Michigan. Think of Danny sitting down with Hoke vs. Dooley and then have Mattison enter the room in your head. I likes our chances. Big Life, Big Stage, Go Blue.
Plan A -- one or two new protected rivalries to go to 14 and 16 when necessary
Legends Leaders
ND Navy
Air Force Army
Compare the the SSEC (SUPERSIZED South East Conference) and this is pure win. Adding Mizzou and A&M in the West and moving Auburn to the East seems pretty lame on their part. I don't see how they keep the Iron Bowl mystique without other decent protected rivalries to balance out the schedule.
Plan 9 from outer space. If we need 16 plus teams to get two auto-bids, enlist teams like uconn, kansas, etc to be like IU and NW of yore so the traditional powers to keep racking up wins and championships--works for me.
Gallon is the holder on FG's, too. This struck me as odd but it seems Hoke wants the give Gallon a shot on offense and special teams. Let's hope a revved up Gallon+Special Teams Coaching=Success that carries over to his play at WR.
for the place but I could vote for the Sufjan Stevens song about the place as a possible #1. Oh Sleeping Bear.
That stretch of the Lake MI coast is beautiful and is breathtaking at sunset--in my top 10 I suppose. I concur with south rim of grand canyon comment and would throw out Juneau AK as another place on my list but I have not been out west much. Hoover dam was cool and I like chicago, nyc, Savannah and the big easy as big towns go.
Take UNC and Duke and Big Ten Basketball is top dog forever and we add the defining rivalry of the sport. Football adds a couple of lower tier teams with potential to rise up occasionally.
Take ND and your choice of UVa, Pitt, or VT (in order of desireability) and we are done hopefully forever. ND and NEB are all you need to insure equal or better status with the SEC and the league does not get too difficult to navigate for traditional powerhouse teams. Based on Academics, alumni, and endowment criteria, ND, Duke, UNC and UVA would be the coup 'd grace/fab four. Voila, Northwestern now makes perfect sense in the BIG 10
Miami FLA also intriques me with respect to adding revenue but they are a serious geographic outlier.
Dude with "good sources" from Oklahoma no less saying the BIG 10 to make offer to take Texas and A&M as a package next week before the A&M regents vote on the 22nd based on the fact that the SEC will not take Texas.
No love lost between Texas and a&m based on their comments. Also, A&M has a very good looking class coming in.
Interesting boards to check out if you're a few beers/drinks into this.
I have no interest in Texas or even ND unless they agree to be equal partners as is the tradition. If Texas agrees to be an equal partner, then I'd see doing this.
http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N220DF. Domino's plane is still bookmarked from the coaching search. Possible eastern recruiting swing (WRight et al, fuller, Reeves) or it's just pizza hobnobbing.
I like Shaw's fight and skill set and would bet thousands of dollhairs Hoke and FreddieJack are challenging him to step up as a senior. He needs the game slow down for him as per DRob so he makes quick decisions that lead to big plays.
That being said, competition at tailback needs to pay dividends this season and should be intense during fall practice. I like Smith but see him more as a spot player andtend to agree with you regarding RR.
Winston Churchill in this picture. Am I losing it? Maybe he will start flashing the crowd the V sign and add to the pointing gestures to confirm my suspicion that he is not only a fan but the man reincarnate.
My breakout pick is Gallon--America is waiting along with Byrne/Eno for the moves he flashed on youtube coming out of school. My personal feeling is that he clashed with RR and staff and barely made it to the Hoke regime as a wolver--seize the day JEREMY.
I transferred to UofM. I did so sight unseen after being surprised I was accepted (...it is the best helmet in the country afterall). I made great lasting friends at Miami but never regretted the decision. When I arrived for Fall Semester I was smitten immediately.
We are blessed to have a top tier school in an awesome American city. I now live close to Oxford/Cinci and the area is not too shabby but it does not measure up to Ann Arbor/Detroit and the beauty of Michigan. Hard to beat it unless you can globetrot. I appreciate and identify with the reaction of Caleb and his parental units regarding the campus and community. Pulling for all of the new recruits! GO BLUE
Strictly middle class. Whadda day! Upvote for Adidas and Brandon on the Uni's. Ours kick ND's and enjoyed seeing Hoke, Denard and VB et al. having fun with this. The new recruits seem to like them as well. Go Blue~!~
is leaning/going elsewhere, it seems smart to immediately up the ante like this in a way that is fair to both recruits and that will make them think hard about their offer. Playing hard to get works...
Really like this move and recruits are responding to the way the staff are doing things. The 2x2 pickup pattern maybe a fluke but this makes me wonder. Could we see 3 DBs line up and blow the collective mind of Mgoblog in the coming days?
I would add that after the 3rd OSU drumming, I was ready to move on and was surprised at Brian and Mgoblog's collective tolerance and unwarrented support of RR's regime. The coach was down in the mouth, the defense was in shambles, and the entire team lacked spirit by the end of each season.
I was jacked that Harbaugh would take the job, and less than excited about Hoke at first. That said, I would have taken Hoke over RR straight up after the bowl game and probably after OSU.

upset USC Minny is probably not as bad as they looked today--at least I hope not.

Thanks be to Tom, great post as always.
Seen enough to judge.
1. UM (biased but...I'd rather be in ANN ARBOR)
2. Northwestern
3. Wisconsin
4. IU (biased from IN)
5. Minny (twin cities rock)
(insert ND about here, like the area but not the town)
6. Penn State
7. Purdue-Blockheads love this place.
Have been there and color me impressed.
Iowa (passing thru, saw the meat puppets)
Have been there and was dazed and or confused.
Michigan State (the women were memorably fine)
Ohio State--AC/DC was wrong...hell is a bad place to be.
Have not been there...not sure if I want to go.
Nebraska-Illinois (tied for second to last)

Thanks DB and MSC for doing these jobs well. Hoke is unconscious.
Wow. What a ride. Thanks, TP
On Avery Island camp though I appear to be in a minority as NMH fans go. Aeroplane gets monotonous at times--more highs and lows.

"Smoke a" even though it was grammatically uncouth.
Hoke goes all Syd Barrett and gets a 5ish star QB. Start me up with some a that.
