Your description of psychotic fans hating the other state sounds a lot more like OSU than U-M. We poke fun at Ohio, but that's as far as it goes. Meanwhile, Michigan fans have to fear for their safety in Columbus.

That's true if you (for some bizarre reason) decide to melt it down and sell the scrap metal. But if you sell it as is, you'd make quite a bit more than that.

Not to be that guy but it's duos and trios, without apostrophes. (The grocer's apostrophe is a pet peeve.)
Anyway, the group in 1992-ish was one of my favorites: Tyrone Wheatley, Ricky Powers, Ed Davis and Jessie "House Cat" Johnson. And then Biakabutuka entered the mix in '93. We were stacked.

To be fair, it's not like Sweden did anything dirty. They played defensively, looking to minimize the number of good chances for the U.S., while still managing to get on the scoreboard themselves. After we tied it up, they reasoned, probably correctly, that the 50-50 odds of a penalty shootout were better than those of winning in an open game.
Our job was to grab the lead and force them out of their zone. We couldn't do it.

Even with the full context she still sounds like an asshole.

As noted above, Carmelo has not scored the most points in Olympic basketbal overall, just the most for the U.S. team. He's barely a quarter of the way to the all-time record.

Phelps and Walsh-Jennings, yes.
Biles, maybe - it's hard to say when gymnasts usually only compete once, but you can make a case for her.
Melo? Come on. He's never even been the best player on any of his Olympic teams.
The only remotely plausible argument for Melo is that he's scored a lot of career points (293). But Oscar Schmidt scored almost four times as many (1.094) in his Olympic career for Brazil.
|2 weeks 11 hours ago||If longevity and scoring||
If longevity and scoring totals are what counts in your book, then surely Oscar Schmidt is the greatest Olympic basketball player of all time.
Schmidt scored 1,094 points in his Olympic career for Brazil. To put that into perspective, Carmelo has scored 293.

Hmm - it's more the fact that I do watch basketball, and have followed the guy's NBA career, that I think the guy's a chucker and a bad teammate.
As for him being a great guy for volunteering to play every four years (basically the gist of the article), it's easier to do that when your team doesn't make the playoffs. He's already had a lot of rest since April.

How many teachers do you actually know? Are you basing this opinion on actual firsthand observation, or cheap political rhetoric?

It's just sports. It's not war. Our country will be fine regardless of how many medals we win.

If she wants to be a full-time teacher she'll need a ceritficate at the vast majority of the schools in this state. (If a school doesn't ask for a certificate, that's a pretty large red flag.) Working without a certificate basically means subbing or being a parapro.
Fortunately, U-M's School of Ed has a program - which I went through myself - called Master of Arts with Certification. It's a 12-month program in which you cover 40 credits and also observe and student-teach. It's intense but only a year.
If she's interested in secondary, here's the link.
For primary, the link is here.
These are small programs and admission is competitive. They run from June to June, so the new cycle has already begun. They'll be admitting next year's in the coming months.
As far as actually looking for a job, this is definitely the best site.
Virtually every public school is in their database. For private schools, you have to hunt around a little more.

It's time to bring back the college guys. Or at least, no older pros. Make it an under-25 team or something. The Dream Team thing has gotten boring.

I can't really get into the Olympics this time around. I don't know if it's all the negative press about Rio (Zika, safety, etc.) or if it's just the realization that the Games are a financial disaster for most host cities, but I remember following the Olympics being a huge highlight of the summer when it happened, and now I'm just kind of "meh" about it.
I think I liked it better when the Summer and Winter Games were in the same year. When they're every two years it doesn't feel quite as rare.

It's no big scandal or anything, but it's just kind of odd that a guy with over 50K points still feels a need to give himself another couple every post.

Honestly, there's no particular financial reason against it either. It really doesn't matter from the league's standpoint where the game is held. This is more a PR thing.
