Did you watch Stauskas against FSU? He took it to the rack early and often.

Eh . . . his form looks solid but his release is a little slow.

You're pretty much the only person who watched that game and thought Stauskas was "fine." The consensus everywhere else is that he gutted it out but clearly had limited mobility.

I called it . . . when the season began, I predicted someone would be taking shots at Beilein before long.
Hoke was right - fans are fickle.

Are you kidding? He uses way, way more ball-screen action at Michigan than he ever did there.
|1 day 14 hours ago||As classic a game as it was,||
As classic a game as it was, I don't think a game involving a 7-4 Michigan team is going to go down as the best ever.
Regardless, it's still a debate between 1) winning one game in a season that otherwise went nowhere and 2) winning the game for the national title.
The '69 game (which is often considered the best in our history) wasn't just a huge upset; it clinched us a share of the B1G title and while we were headed to Pasadena anyway (because of the no-repeat rule), we went as the rightful titleholder. It was confirmation that we had arrived as a program, not just a flukish win out of the blue.

I don't mean this the wrong way, but that really seems like "little brother" thinking, turning down a national title for us just so another school can't win one in a different sport.

Beat Ohio, and it's still a 4-loss football season. Beat Louisville, and we're national champs.
How is this really up for debate?

Pretty sure it's Nik. We saw it against FSU.

Staff changes are the head coach's job. If you want our AD to micromanage the football program, that's crazy.

Is their simulator able to factor in Georgia's injuries? They're obviously not the same team they were in September.
|2 days 14 hours ago||I don't understand your point||
I don't understand your point about basketball, unless you're the type that only gets interested around tourney time. If you're a pretty big fan you should be into it right now. We have a huge game tonight (Duke) and another big one in a little over a week (Arizona), and then B1G play starts soon after . . . why does it not matter until February? Personally, I can't wait for tonight's game.

Another reason: this is just the kind of game Beilein wins.

This is a straight-up road game, not at a neutral site.

UGA won't be healthy. Murray just had ACL surgery - there's no way he returns in time.

I'm a little tired of the Florida bowls too, but the Peach Bowl? The Sun Bowl? You really want to go to Atlanta or El Paso over the beach?

I think you have a point, but it's overstated. Cornerbacks shouldn't be putting up zeros in tackles. Every defense is going to need its corners to come through in run support at times. And INTs are a pretty big deal - they can be game-changers. (The fundamental goal of any defense is to get itself off the field, so you can't really downplay a takeway.) Woodson had 8 picks in 1997 and it seemed like every one came at a big moment.

Given that we finished the game with three consecutive TD drives (and the drive before that went 69 yards before a turnover on downs), how exactly did we scrap the only thing we're good at?
This article has a definite whiff of confirmation bias. It sure sounds like you guys made up your minds about Borges before this game happened, because you're basically making the guy's gameplan sound like crap when it produced 603 yards and 41 points. If you want to pick apart the Iowa gameplan, OK, sure. But this game? Really?
|3 days 10 hours ago||I like that they're dropping||
I like that they're dropping the ultra-slick logo. It seems like every small school hired the same design firm to come up with logos over the past decade. They always have that same sort of computerized shading Consider:
and even some pro teams went in that direction around the same time:

I don't really want to play them again, but we're not going to lose - they're really bad now, nothing like what they were in 2007.

How about Gardner?
60% completions, almost 3,000 yards, 21 passing TDs, 11 rush TDs . . . in spite of everything he had a pretty good year.

Petersen's making over $2 million a year (with guaranteed annual $200K raises) at Boise, and is absolutely beloved there - it would take a long time for him to be on the hot seat. He's doing pretty well for himself. His predecessors at Boise all failed to find success elsewhere, so why risk it?
Boise's also an underrated place to live.
|3 days 13 hours ago||You say this two days after||
You say this two days after Hoke went for two in the final seconds against Ohio. Do you think Lloyd would have done that? Not to mention that Hoke's offense put up more yards than any Michigan team ever has against them. Was that really old, stodgy Michigan offense you saw?
|3 days 13 hours ago||Have you considered that||
Have you considered that possibly Hoke inherited less talent than OSU's coaches?
|3 days 13 hours ago||2010 BG put up 400 yards on||
2010 BG put up 400 yards on us, while Purdue was played in a driving rainstorm (and they were terrible anyway). UConn was good - I'll give you that. But it wasn't epically good - they moved the ball but had untimely turnovers.
2009 MSU wasn't very good - they went 6-7 that year.
Gerg never had a game like 2011 or '13 Ohio. We hadn't scored 40 on them since 1946; now we've done it twice in three years. We also scored more than ND or Minnesota has given up all year, IIRC.
Borges has shown that he is capable of delivering great performances. Maybe not as consistently as we'd like, but that could change with better OL play.

If you keep Borges and hire a QB coach, someone else has to leave. You can't have more than nine assistants.

Or maybe he believes that Borges, who has worked with these guys for three years now, is a better bet to deliver a good offense next year than a totally new coordinator. Is that really impossible to believe?
