City Works in Disney Springs is the best bet since ESPN Club on Boardwalk is not open. You won't get a NYE reservation now, but they have a long bar with many TV's that you may be able to sit at without a reservation. If you are looking for room for the entire family you will probably find slim pickin's for NYE at this juncture. I just watched the Big 10 Championship game sitting at the bar at the Boathouse in Disney Springs--they have two huge screens on each side of the bar. The tough part: its New Years Eve and everything will be jammed.
I agree "meh bowl game that will excite nobody"...but lets be real, even if we beat Sparty we STILL lose to OSU and don't play for the big 10 title and still go to an also ran bowl game that nobody will care about. As long as OSU is the varsity and everybody else in the Big10 is the JV, there will be little mystery as who will move on to the final four.
I was at Oktoberfest last year and was trying to find somewhere to watch the UM/MSMoo game...no luck. They moved it to a late start which made it that much more difficult on Munich time I woke up in the middle of the night to check the score, saw the final and blurted a WTF out loud and went back to a beer infused sleep. It was grim.
It will just be another brick in the MSMoo wall. Hopefully, the cumulative effect of all the "MSU in the headlines for all the wrong reasons" will eventually take its toll, just won't happen this BB season.
It will be fun, however, to watch Izzo try to dodge even more incoming missiles.

The more concerning issue is how we play in big showcase games. Last year's OSU we shit the bed. This year, in an MSU game that should had meant everything to us, we were outscored 13-5 in the second half---to MSMOO, and won by nine points. Now a prime time under the lights game against Iowa, and our performance is, shall we say, disappointing for where it appeared this team was. Our next big, national attention game is at Columbus, and I fear what Michigan team shows up.
Not a regular tradition now, but was when we were students: apartment across from South Quad (608 Monroe, Apt, 21, balcony overlooking the street). Friday afternoon we rolled a keg up the hill on State Street from Campus Corners. Table hockey tournamnets all night, along with draining half the keg. Deranged best friend and fellow student would be up at 7am revisiting the keg and the table hockey. The highlight was always him reving up the crowds heading to the stadium on Monroe by screaming, from the balcony a la Eva Peron, to anyone in sight "Fire Up, You Bastards!"
Step into a Vegas casino, walk up to the sports bet window, lay down $100 and say "$100 on Michigan, I'll take the higher". Be prepared for the expression of a lifetime.
Sam Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch"..."Butch Cassisy & the Sundance Kid" just doesn't seem to fit the "western" genre--more of a buddy movie set in the west.
If I win a $675 Poweball jackpot, I am, by the very defination, lucky...and we all know luck comes in streaks (ask any blackjack player)...so the play is to parlay the winnings into something bigger: Buy 675 million $1 scratch off tickets (or whatever the number is after taxes), hire a flock of the unemployed to start scratching, and watch the fortune multiply, all the while helping to put people back to work.
Roll back to MSMoo's three point win over Purdue--PURDUE!--at East Lansing, after being favored by over three scores. The coaches poll comes out after that weekend and MooU gets ONE first place vote!!?? The person who cast that vote? Pitt's Pat Narduzzi.
As a general rule of thumb, you can pretty much just gloss over the first reply to any new thread as its, in all likelyhood, someone bitching about why the thread was posted in the first place.
Saw the show at the Ed Sullivan theatre...remember being pissed because the guest that night was Tom Brokaw, but the next night was Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Did attend the show when he was at NBC and on at 12:30am, and Larry "Bud" Melman was handing out hot towels to people arriving at the Port Authority in NYC. The Melman bit was on a remote, so everyone in the studio saw it on monitors, but the whole bit was piss-you-pants funny at the moment. I remember Letterman laughing so hard he was crying. It is on YouTube somewhere.
Favorite Letterman joke: It rained so hard last night that half the puddles in the city are actually filled with water.
When Scotty Bowman was once asked what the secret to being a great coach is, he replied "Getting on the bus will all the best players" Evidentially one of Scotty' former players who now runs the Maple Leafs never heard the quote.
The rumored salary was $4-5 mil/yr. so Toronto has to pop for $50 mil over 8 years? I think Babby has been less than "candid" with everyone regarding his intentions through this whole ordeal. If he wants to win NOW, Toronto is not the place to go. Its an old addage, but whenever they say "its not about the money", its about the money. Personally, I look forward to Blashill taking over--a new voice in the locker room may do some good, and I think the ENTIRE Red Wing organization--from Mr. I and Kenny H on down-- may have a little extra incentive to show that the success of the Red WIngs does not hinge on the presence of Mike Babcock.

Heard from someone in Vegas for the game that the players were seen out late every night. If so...that may explain "some" of that performance.
