Welcome to Ann Arbor young man and the prestigious University of Michigan.
All the best both on and off the field.

for the tip.

It may be a little premature to label them Michigan Men but I appreciate the optimistic outlook.
And I don't believe the OP's conficence is misplaced. Some of us (Brian? lol) had our doubts when Hoke was named head coach of our storied program, understandably so. I know he didn't fit the profile of what I thought the ideal candidate should be (shows you how smart I am).
I envisioned a Bill Belichick/Bill Walsh hybrid, very cerebral, with a track record for fielding stifling defenses like our '97 squad. I wanted someone who at the same time, could build an offensive juggernaut that would throw caution to the wind and dominate with aggressive play-calling and shrewd creativity. My Maize and Blue soul was seeking carthisis of the pain of watching our typically significant talent advantage wasted by a way-too-conservative game plan. I desired a football genius to make those years a distant memory.
Brady Hoke's unbridled passion and tremendous (using one of his favorite words) devotion and love for all things Michigan totally trumps every other consideration. When you add to that his ability to recruit like-minded coordinators like recruiter and DC extraordinaire GMatt and Gorgeous Al, (getting the right people on the bus and the wrong people off, a la Good to Great" by Collins) you have the foundation for a successful program.
Add to that the fatherly care and genuine compassion for the young men in the program or family (Real recognize Real) and their commitment to the same (“How about you coach them as hard as you can for as long as you have them,” Mattison yelled back tersely. “YOU GIVE THEM EVERYTHING YOU’VE GOT!! ...that’s why you don’t go to Ohio State...”), is awesome.
I"m so excited about the trajectory of our program.

We're going to need a replacement.
And I bet Brandon and Hoke would give a free ticket to this year's UTL if someone would dress as a leprochan mascot with a chicken head.
Hope you guys have a great season and look forward to seeing you in the B1G Championship.

I just perused the first few pages.
Dude, you can write.
Thank you for the excellent reading material over lunch.

Yeah, not sure how I dodged what became known as the 21st obstacle but I had no flu symptoms. I hobbled around for a couple of days as my legs informed me I had no business pushing them that far.
It's funny because I commented as we were waiting in line for one of the water obstacles, "I wonder if they added any chlorine to the water," and got some hearty chuckles from my fellow mudders that were within earshot. We all knew that common sense thoughts concerning hygiene was somewhat antithetical to the spirit of Tough Mudder, Yet 16,000 dirty sweating athletes sharing numerous relatively small pools of muddy water in series was a prescription for some type of pathogenic outbreak.
It could have been much worse. Other obstacle course / mud runs have overwhelmed local emergency rooms when organizers tried to push the envelope of toughness and included challenges that were truly hazardous.
Anyway, I completed it, and I survived.
|1 year 22 weeks ago||Sorry||
Sorry I can't join you Doc. I did the Tough Mudder a few weeks ago and had a blast. Miles 11 and 12 were pretty tough on the calves though. In spite of my pre-event electrolyte loading they kept cramping. The good news is that my muscles were so tired by that point that the cramps weren't severe. It just felt like my calves kept falling out of place.

Holland as GM for multiple Stanley Cup Winners, who's been working shoulder to shoulder with two of the best coaches in the game in Scotty and Mike Babcock for the past how many years; and who undoubtedly consulted Babcock before signing Cleary; both of whom evaluate hockey talent as their full time career and have been doing so very successfully for decades, know more than I do about the advantages of signing Cleary vs. letting him get away to say a Pittsburg who would be in our conference next year.
I think Holland is smart enough to do what Babcock tells him and I think Babcock is the best coach in the game.

was a good movie. Christian Bale was stellar in his portrayal of Marky's drugged up brother. Won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor and it was well deserved...quite the performance.
EDIT: "Mark's drugged up brother"
|1 year 25 weeks ago||That's where I land.||
9 wins. Mostly because the Lions have found ways to lose for so many seasons that most opposting teams will look at this game in their schedule as almost a bye. I think they'll catch teams off guard.
|1 year 36 weeks ago||Incredible||
That was incredible.
|1 year 37 weeks ago||Extremely Odd||
You know their coaches have studied the film and they probably were so intimidated and afraid of shaking their players' fragile confidence that they're now just going to play a few clips, keep blowing smoke up their bunghole about their vaunted 2-3, and pray we don't show up.

Brandon should hire you.

Good point Mega-
I doubt any of us can conceive how tough that would be.
|2 years 27 weeks ago||Justice||
He was a football coach, it's been discussed here before, if the mods choose to delete it, so be it.
If the man was contrite, like when he was confronted by the one mother and he broke and said he was sorry and knew she could never forgive him (while never explicitly admitting to what he had done), I could forgive.
But all of this posturing and forcing his poor victims to relive and recount all of the torment he put them through?
I hate to say it but I want to see him beaten to a pulp.
Then maybe we'll get a little remorse, and a little genuine contrition.

I hope the death threats against LTT and his family are being investigated.
This shit is no joke.
I admire teammates sticking up for each other but I'd like to see some serious fines doled out or maybe even a little jail time for threatening to take someone's life.
This world is getting too crazy.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Stand Your Ground||
When a game gets that out of hand, you've got to be prepared to defend yourself and give back whatever they're dishing out with interest. I've found that is the only effective deterrent.
If I was your teammate, I would have charged at the guy that boarded you and cold-cocked him in the face. It sounds thuggish but when some asshat starts charging at guys and sending them flying headfirst into the boards from 3-5 feet away, that's how spinal cord injuries happen.
With two minutes left in a 10-1 game? In a non-checking beer league? Where everyone's got to get up and go to work the next day?
Hopefully you've got some guys on your team that understand Bo's definition of a team.
The bigger the better.

I don't bring it up to start a political debate, only to point out a fact.
Providence has an openly gay mayor and is the only city in New England with gay bathhouses.
For many people, that would not be an issue. I'm sure that may be a source of concern for others.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||Thanks Tally & Tripp||
I actually thought of that Tally and forgot to list it. Good thing because I wouldn't have articulated it as eloquently as you did.
And thanks for the link Tripp...good read.
|2 years 32 weeks ago||It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine Laquon||
Could there be a better situation than Michigan for Treadwell?
1. Absolute stud quarterback, arguably best pro-style in the nation
2. Quarterback is in the same class so they'll have 4 solid years to develop the chemistry all great QB WR tandems possess.
3. Wide open clear path to immediate playing time.
4. Pro style offense
5. Bona fide offensive genius/mastermind in Borges (just see the last 6 plays or so called in the UTL game last year)
The road to a successful NFL career could not be more plain.
Come on Laquon, you know where the best opportunity is.
The sooner you commit, the more likely you will influence other nationally ranked athletes to join a class that should compete for a national championship by junior year.
|2 years 35 weeks ago||The Ultimate Blow Off||
Nick probably spends the better part of $1000-$1500 for flight, hotel, rental car, meals and Shane totally blows him off, doesn't even take the time to see him.
We're talkin' Alabama, the defending National Champions.
ARE YOU FRIGGIN' KIDDING ME!!!
That demonstrates passion right up there with Coach Hoke never wearing red all those years.
What an example of loyalty for our other young Michigan Men to follow. These guys truly bleed BLUE. They'll be joking about that in the locker room and on the practice field for the next 5 years; heck, even after Shane goes pro.
Gotta love it.
|2 years 35 weeks ago||The Opposite Effect||
I can just see Sugar Shane telling Bobby to go pound sand and outwardly scoffing at the mere suggestion that he would ever even entertain for a second the possibility of going Crimson.
And then as those knuckleheads continue to recruit the rest of our prized class, Shane's example will only foster greater camaraderie and brotherhood as they collectively disdain and mock the foolishness of Nick.
|2 years 35 weeks ago||The Game||
This is going to be just like old times, the kind of fierce competition that earned our rivalry the top ranking in all of sport.
Pretty shrewd of Meyer to get the Anzolone commit before Levenberry announces Tuesday.

Flyers / Pens is a bloodbath.
Makes me long for the days when the Avs could put a decent team on the ice.
McCarty / Lemieux. Good battles. Good times.
