| 1 year 1 day ago | The Team, the Team, the Team... |
Never understood why singling out individual players on a team sport was such a good idea. Say one of our running backs gets a touchdown, is he the only one to get a sticker? How about the linemen that created the hole, or the fullback that was the lead blocker? The same could be said about a touchdown pass, does the QB and the WR each get one? What about the linemen in pass protection, or the other WR that may have opened up a lane with his route? The Team's success in an effort by all the student athletes on the Team! Saying these players are better or more successful marginalizes the other players not in the so-called "skill positions". Maybe I'm just a bitter ex-lineman though... PS: Don't clutter up the helmets! Best looking helmets in college football, no need to ruin them. |

That may be the most productive thing he's done so far... |

Don't most athletic departments use a search firm to put feelers out there? If Patterson explicitly said "Dave Brandon" it's a good way to get around things if it was a firm that contacted him regarding his interest in the job. It's all about what people say and how they say it. |

I hates them so much... Go Blue, beat O State! |

We did just stop them on third and one, no reason to think we really couldn't on fourth and one. All the defense has to do is step up and make one play, like they did in the third OT. You have to punt in that situation, you don't make the first down, you cost yourself the game. Most coaches will call the punt...except for maybe Les Miles. |

Maybe it's just the knee-jerk reaction, or buying into the "definition of insanity". I understand the only way they'll really get better is through experience, tackling better, fundamentals, etc. It's just frustrating. You just hope something can change that will ignite a spark, although deep down you know there really is no instant cure-all. Although, I really do believe we need to rush more guys, especially against a young QB. We'll see this Saturday, either way. |

We're still giving up 80+ yard drives with the "bend-not-break" defense. Why not try sending more men at the quarterback? Yeah we may get torched a couple times, but it's no different than giving up long, sustained drives. Apparently Avery played more man coverage in high school, so this would actually play to his strength. It's worth a shot at least. With Illinois having a freshman QB, I think it's more important get to him quicker, forcing him to make bad decisions. |
| 1 year 29 weeks ago | Similar Experience |
This was my first time at State College as well, and I can pretty much echo the sentiments. Most PSU fans were nice, especially during the tailgate. Didn't really have any bad encounters with any of their fans, didn't hear too much smack talk after the game either. The view of Beaver Stadium from the tailgating area was cool, the whole area scenic, but I wasn't too impressed with the inside of the stadium. Overall, it was a good experience (a win would have made it great), and I would definitely go again. |
