Yeah, Michigan Basketball was TERRIBLE in the early 90s. I mean, they don't have a single banner in the rafters at

Relevant here, I think.

Didn't Harbaugh pretty much answer this question?

I would argue he hasn't been the best MLB in the league for a number of years, but your point is still basically true, and there's no way you can keep a guy that dominant out of the Hall.

Well in that case...how about some Final Four tickets?

FYI, just looked it up: It was Sat, Dec 10 1994, Wiscy was ranked #14 and coached by Stan Van Gundy (though they turned out to be pretty bad that season, finishing 13-14.) EMU won 92-76.

I was gonna mention this one. I was at that game, and it was probably the best atmosphere I've ever experienced for a basketball game. Bowen Field House was a great gym, and it was packed. The Convocation Center is just so...sterile and empty. Feels like a small NBA arena.

This has been said elsewhere, but that's not necessarily because the students weren't there. The bottom 10 rows of the student section are filled to probably 150-200% capacity, and the next 30 are probably around 125-150%. If every single person with a ticket showed up, you would still get quite a few empty rows because of this.

Supposedly he was talking to Wes Welker and Deion Branch, who were giving him shit about the previous play.

What are you talking about? We lost the last two games last year by a combined 21 points, and that was to the Saints and Packers, both on the road.

Yeah, this is about as close as Special K gets to locally-inspired music.

He was referring to JohnnyBlue's usage, not EGD. Confused me for a second too.

Nah, that kind of criticism is just too, like, CONSTRUCTIVE, man.

Yeah, but what if he gets boarded? Do you think he'd have a choice?

Unless they've updated since I tried to watch the NCAA Hockey Championship back in April, "dim, 20-year old projection TVs" isn't much worse than what BW3s has to offer. We could barely read the score on their large but abysmal front-projection screens because the pictures were so washed out and horrible - they look like they haven't been updated since the place opened in the late 90s. We left and headed to the Arena, which also wasn't great but still seemed better.
I guess I don't know what my choice would be though. BW3s out in Ypsi Township is much newer, but it's a decidedly "suburban" bar, which, eh. Charley's or the Jug are OK as long as you're sitting next to the screens you want to watch.

I don't think that matters. Not defending OSU's response here, but I would assume any rights/protections afforded by universities to SAs don't disappear simply be use the person in question is no longer at the school.

The '95 Purdue game is maybe the earliest Michigan game I clearly remember attending (was about 7 at the time). I also attended the 2008 Northwestern game as a student.

Kosmo's is in Sparrow Market in Kerrytown (in Kerrytown Markets, just west of Zingerman's.) It's on the first floor in the middle, right across from Monahan's Fish Market. Definitely a must-visit; their bibimbop and Tucker burger are both fantastic.

A friend of mine used to work in the Bar Louie kitchen and had horror stories about that place. He's worked in quite a few kitchens and said nowhere else ever came close. That, on top of it being one of the only chain bars in A2 anyway, was enough to make me steer clear.
|2 years 26 weeks ago||Secondhand smoke||
Secondhand smoke, as generally referred to and understood in medical literature, almost always refers to inhalation that occurs in a closed environment, i.e, indoors. Doesn't apply to a ridiculous outdoor ban; the exhaust of passing cars is more dangerous by many degrees of magnitude.

Pryor is going to have enough problems finding an NFL team to take him with all his baggage (see "Ryan Mallett"). He doesn't need to add "badmouthing ex-coaches/teammates" to his list of character flaws.

Re: Webber and "biting the hand that feeds you", are you serious? Didn't Webber completely throw Martin under the bus?

I see your point. For instance, I've always thought my father was a good honest man, but if we can't trust The Vest, can I really trust him now?

Regardless, I think you just did.

You mention the possibility of limiting Versus broadcasts, which I assume you're in favor of simply because of the large number of people who don't get it. Availability aside, however, what's the scuzzlebutt 'round these parts on Versus' broadcasts? I've been pleasantly surprised by the playoff games they've shown so far - specifically their generally "no-frills" style (vis-a-vis unnecessary graphics, commentators who care more about hearing themselves than the game, etc.). They do sometimes have a tendency to lose the puck, and will occasionally switch to a stupidly placed camera in situations where the traditional view would work fine, but it beats having to listen to an ESPN crew fellate themselves/each other for 3 hours.

Hanzal was playing street hockey-style. I've totally done/seen that same trick many times.

I would stick with the RR rating (apologies for redundancy), so long as you're then normalizing all the ratings back to some consistent baseline. If your goal is to present the most accurate set of ratings (through the collective lens of the recruiting sites), it seems wise to use as much data as possible. That is, if Rivals says Guy X is a 6.1 and Guy Y is a 5.9, that tells you something, and turning them both back into fives ignores the distinction they've provided you.
