Giving up 55 to Purdue does seem like a fireable offense.

I agree with most of this, except maybe the Briles contract issues. Obviously we still need more information, but isn't it plausible that there's enough smoke here to terminate him for cause, which makes the size of his contract less of an issue?

Pretty much same here. Been an almost daily reader since my senior year of high school back in 2005-06. Wish I could remember why I first came here. It may have just come up in a Google search or something, because I certainly wasn't reading other sports blogs at the time.
I've thought about it before, and I think I may have read more words written by Brian than any other author. I should try to run the numbers on that some time.
I too miss the haloscan.

Exactly. The term "DJ" is almost too broad, because it can imply a lot of different things.

I've felt this way for a few seasons too. It seems like the goal every year is to be the 6th or 7th best team in the conference, because that keeps the steak alive.

I thought someone (maybe even Brian) eventually wrote that it wasn't a violation because of a loophole created when Hill signed some sort of financial aid documents.

I'm a huge sports fan, but I hate the Super Bowl - largely for the two reasons you mention, plus some distaste for 1) the garish spectacle, usually celebrating some shiny new taxpayer-funded, privately owned stadium and 2) the fact that it's less a football game than a variety show with a football game wedged in the middle.
I usually watch anyway out of inertia, but if a friend gave me something else to do, I'd be there. One year during college I went to Red Hawk (which didn't have TVs) with a friend and we nearly the only ones in there for 2 hours, and just shot the shit with the very bored bartender and server - it was actually pretty great.

Not sure if you're being serious here.
Anyone who said oil would run out by 2016 was an idiot - you're attacking a strawman. That said, we are certainly using it at a greater rate than the earth "creates" it, and easily tappable reserves will eventually be depleted, probably in the next 50 years.

Think you're wrong on both points. First, the NBA Playoffs are FAR more predictable than the NFL. Second, I think you're selling the Cardinals short - they might be the best team in the league right now. And if you want to point to the Seahawks Week 17 win over them, remember that 1) Arizona didn't really care if they won that game, and 2) Seattle lost at home just a week earlier to a terrible Rams team starting Case Keenum.

I think the consensus is that with Smart to UGa Pruitt is taking Smart's position at Bama. He's an Alabama grad and had his first major college coaching gig there. Seems like it'd be nearly impossible to steal him out from under Bama if they want him (and I'm hearing they do.)

Thread jack jacking: anyone know what "Section H" is? I was given two tickets in Section H, it's not on the chart or mentioned on the website. I assume it's a club seat?

You seriously don't think any of their other beers are any good? Expedition, Third Coast, their Lagers, the more limited stuff?

Man, everyone shitting on Bell's in this thread.
I think people associate Bell's with Oberon, which definitely feels generic and "macro-y", but they brew a ton of styles, and almost all are great:
Two Hearted: One of the best widely-available IPAs in the world
Expedition Stout: Maybe the best non-adjunct imperial stout made in MI, and one of the best-aging beers in the world.
Black Note: World class BBA stout
Uranus: By far the best Black IPA I've ever had.
Saturn: Cheapest BBA Barleywine I've ever bought, and it was great to boot
Mars: I don't typically like malt-forward IPAs, but this blew me away.
Jupiter: Great exapmle of a rare style (imperial brown)
Hopslam: Not my thing, but widely regarded as a world class DIPA
Hopsoulution: Not well known, but one of my favorite MI DIPAs
Third Coast Old Ale: Great, vintageable barleywine
Batch X Series: Many of these are legendary in the community
And they do styles that many other breweries won't even touch:
Wild One: A great wild ale
Lager of the Lakes/QFalls/Third Coast Beer/Consecrator: Great stable of lagers, most craft breweries don't even make lagers.
Intangibles: 1) They have one of the best bottle-dating formats in the industry (seriously Founder's, get it together here) 2) they are one of the only breweries to stick almost exclusively to 6pks, which usually provide the best value, 3) They always have a ton of interesting offerings in the brewpub, which is more than I can say for many MI brewers

Oregon certainly beats us on sheer number of craft breweries, and probably has better "little" guys, but it's definitely pretty close in terms of overall quality, and Michigan probably distributes more good beer to other states than Oregon.
As for some data, beer rating sites obviously have their flaws, but check the Top X lists on whatever site you choose (BA, RB, etc.) - Michigan is far better-represented than Oregon, and that's not nothing.
|44 weeks 2 days ago||Bell's?||
For my money it's probably the best "big" craft brewery in the country. They do pretty much every style well.

Yeah. I'm on board with the "down by 15, go for two after your first TD so you know what you need" thing, but I don't really see what getting within 6 accomplishes, as we were never gonna have time for two field goals.
