The person(s) that crafted this response were not hired by DB. Therefore, they are likely not kiss-*ss, yes-(wo)man that worry more about keeping DB happy and the Fort safe than they do about doing an actual good job.

How about your friend forward's the original "mass email type deal" she received to you. Then you could forward that to someone else for at least *some* semblance of verification - Instead of giving us a screenshot that is completely unverifiable?

Isn't that just as much of an indictment though? It says that despite yrs of coaching "in the system", none of our OL has improved enough to beat out an incoming freshman.

yah - do not want. People keep trotting out Les as some great prospect but forget that the Lloyd contingent, who are still extremely influential would never stand for it. Unless there were a REAL big housecleaning (i.e., Llloyd and cronies are booted too) then Les never ends up here. I'm no Lloyd cheerleader, regardless, I'm OK with that - Les just creeps me out.

Why exactly are you with the coaches on this? I mean, maybe you pull the kid aside and have a little one on one time to explain the finer points of humility. But to sit a clear starter a whole game for something as innocuous as that? Look, I don't know if that's really what went down or if there's more to it. But if it was really as simple as an unfortunate emotional outburst in practice, I'd say that's just another sign of an unglued coaching team.

Combine this latest fiasco with the Gibbons/Lewan stuff and it becomes nigh impossible to conclude anything other than Hoke is incompetent, deceitful or some combination of the two. None of those are tenable characteristics for the head FB coach at the University of Michigan.

Have been a fan since the 70's when my parents taught me to love Michigan Football. Have been a season ticket holder that entire time as well. First through my parents tix, then additionally through my own since I graduated from M in 93. We let my parents lapse this year... just couldn't justify two pairs anymore. I kept mine (though I've given all mine away this yr - not sold, but given). The AD has been all up in my parent's biz about signing back up - Countless offers to re-engage, re-enlist, etc. Pathetic.
I honestly don't know at this point if I'll renew or not. DB has been so completely tone deaf to the wants and needs of the fanbase, all in search of the extra dollar. Couple that with the complete clusterf*ck that the team has become.... ugh. I keep thinking I should just add the money I give to fball to the money I give to bball. At least they seem to be putting it to good use.

Hah! The beauty of the TST is I get to follow the group winner if Ghana don't make it. That's why I'm hoping they don't. Then I'd get to follow my Germans!

I've got a TST-7 for Ghana. So, I'll be all over the place. Sadly I won't be getting there in time to catch the US-Ghana match. Had to sell that one back to FIFA.
First stop is Fortaleza on the 20th (Ghana-Germany on the 21st). Then staying in Jeri till the 27th. Down to Brasilia for the Ghana-Portugal match the 28th.
After that, kinda hoping Ghana are out. Then would be Porto Alegre for round of 16, Rio for quarters, Belo Horizonte for semi 1, then to Sao Paulo for semi 2, and then the Final.

I see several commentors saying that somehow JK's selections will lead to a 0-3 early exit. My question to them would be this: Do you honestly believe there is ANY 23 man US roster that would make it out of the group? Barring small miracles (i.e., flukes having nothing to do with the US team), I don't see how the US gets out of this group under any circumstances. Given that, I'm fine with the US using this year's cup as a teaching moment to prepare for the future. Sucks for Landon, but ya gotta take the long view.

I've got a TST-7 for Ghana. Sadly gonna hafta miss the first match against the US in Natal. But will be there for the other 6 matches and maybe one or two more if I can swing it.

This is correct. If the match were competive and not just an exhibition, the field size regulations come into play. There was just recently an exhibition in St Louis at Busch Stadium, and the field for that was actually a couple meters shorter than regulation.

I've had a pair of my own for the past 20 yrs and now my parents' pair as well (since 72). My pair are one seat over from the PSD section. So I'm keeping those. But somewhat reluctantly, we'll be letting the pair in section 6 go. Just cannot justify them any longer. We were the last holdouts of a bunch of longtimers in that particular area. We've seen all of our seat-mates drop out one by one over the last 5 years or so. It's really sort of sad when I think back to the many fond memories formed while sitting in those seats. But things have changed so much... *sigh*

I was at the Puerto Rico Tip Off Tourney.... And having watched the team in person, I have to say, I'm not terribly worried. I'm not saying they'll win it all. But from all indications, the issues we do have are all correctible with time and coaching (something the bball team is not lacking). Yes, they are young. Yes, they still make freshman mistakes. Yes, they still need to work on their defense.
But despite all that, after the loss to Charlotte I came away thinking 'this will be a really good team come March/April"
I look forward to the team they will eventually gel into.
|1 year 13 weeks ago||I was gonna stay out of this||
I was gonna stay out of this whole discussion... But in all the posts on the subject over the last couple weeks, I've not seen this little tidbit brought up. If it was and I missed it, apologies.
Let me preface by saying this applies only to student football game attendance. Basically, you all suck and here's why. You are at that game as a student at the University of Michgan. That means you are there to support your team on the field. Showing up late or not at all is disrespectuf to that team, they deserve better. Want proof? Read this comment from Thomas Gordon in the Akron postgame presser:
Was there an emotional letdown this game?
Gordon: "Well that can be an excuse, but we still expect to come out and execute and compete. We did not do that. But you know, obviously you see the stands at the beginning of the game, but it shouldn't affect you. This is a young team, and we can't let things like that affect the team."
There you have it, right from one of the leaders on the team - the student section sucked. He mans up and accepts it's no valid excuse for a poor performance. But it doesn't change the fact that it was noted and I'd be willing to bet it did make an impression on the team. Probably Akron too. So, leave your lame excuses in the dorm and get to the game.
