Can't say it's surprising…

Can't say it's surprising Jim left. This was always about Warde and the Regents and their responses. Not the NFL first.

So kids are soft for going…

So kids are soft for going in the transfer portal but he's got great strength to make a decision to leave a place (Oregon)...

He contradicted himself expertly.

Can we all please admit that…

Can we all please admit that the Sycamores is one of the great nicknames in American sports.

Professional nicknames are particularly bland or poor.. but some schools have great ones and a few have the very greatest among them. We are lucky to be another of the latter.

He didn't bet against the…

He didn't bet against the Reds because I say so. He bet against the Reds because he was an addict and that's what addicts do. They lose all sight of and respect for boundaries. And it requires using a brain to remember that and to remember that the MLB was never interested in a transparent investigation - like all private businesses - but rather to protect their own interests first and foremost. That's why the records of that investigation - like so many - are not available to the public.

Using your brain requires more than simply trusting your government or any other entity as some benevolent authority but remembering that they are run by people and remembering what people are capable of and motivated by.

Use the brain. Rose influenced games to induce losses for gambling purposes. This one is obvious.

Or maybe you've got some other shiny excuse for why the dude would VOLUNTARILY BAN HIMSELF FOR LIFE.

There is no other explanation. That's how you know it happened and it was covered up.

Yes he did you genius! Use…

Yes he did you genius! Use your brain. Pete Rose threw games with the Reds for gambling. He VOLUNTARILY ACCEPTED a lifetime ban. Why the hell would he sign that if he didn't think he was getting something in return. So, what did he get in return? Not being an outcast in baseball and Cincinnati like Shoeless Joe was. That's what he got!

Use your brain some more. The owners were still recovering from their collusion scandal bad PR was everywhere and they didn't want another Black Sox situation where a PLAYER/MANAGER all-time hits king was also a gambling addict down on his luck and cash strapped like all addicts get using his position to throw games. But MLB gets the books and knows he did and they can make it public if it goes to trial.

The logical outcome is Rose signs the agreement and baseball is assured he can never be associated again and there's no more risk to the league and Rose gets to not become the next Shoeless Joe forever hated in Cincinnati for THROWING games.

Why else would he sign???? He bet against the Reds. Period.

They covered it up to their mutual advantage. But their explanation for his ban otherwise makes no sense unless you use your brain.

Ohtani just carved up MLB revenues and hurt Japan with this. He did it. No bookie gave an interpreter that money. But don't be surprised if the league and Ohtani come up with another explanation that makes little sense. Just use your brain this time.

Except the owners..

Except the owners..

With Japanese culture in…

With Japanese culture in play here as well - where protecting your friends/employer can be a premium quality (think Samurai) I consider it highly suspicious of Ohtani directly while at the same time concluding the MLB is most eager to cover this up and move on for myriad reasons.

The dude paid his translator's multi-million dollar gambling debt (how did a translator have that kind of money to lay down) and said "naughty naughty never again" and then he didn't know about it all and actually never said anything because he didn't know??

Ohtani was much more involved and the MLB and everyone will not explore this.

Overall he seems a gracious…

Overall he seems a gracious individual, but it's those moments of adversity when you make your bones or break 'em. You swing at another coach and you show how in over your head you are for the heat. The incident is isolated, but the moment is telling. Like Jimmy Lake at Seattle who never coached another game after swinging at a player on the field.. or Woody. ADs gotta know. With Juwan it came after some real success which gave pause. But he really was in over his head after all.

All the best to him.

What was the moment for you?…

What was the moment for you? When Juwan hit the coach from Wiscy I knew he was done on so many levels.

Last Wazzup coach to leave…

Last Wazzu coach to leave for greener pastures struck it rich focusing on D and winning a Natty. Tony Bennett at UVA.

The best programs will…

The best programs will already be anticipating how defenses must adjust to these offenses and how offenses will need to adjust in a couple years to the defensive adjustments. It's always a game of cyclical evolution.

Wilson was also happy to…

Wilson was also happy to take league minimum to help a new team and fuck the Broncos.

Can't say I blame him.

Here's an even more basic…

Here's an even more basic version of what is going on: The Rock is an investor in the organization that bought WWE from Vince McMahon - who remains a minority, but large, shareholder. Vince is now caught in a massive sex trafficking scandal that is hurting WWE's brand value right after the purchase. So, the Rock has come back less for actual content than to serve as a distraction from the scandal and to use his own brand capital to shore up WWE's image during these early days of Vince's final fall.

Period.

This ain't about him wrestling or putting on a quality show. This is about investments.

Tom Brady. I really thought…

Tom Brady. I really thought that guy would win more..

Sunshine laws, huh? Sounds…

Sunshine laws, huh? Sounds like you can take your request for public documents and stick it where the sun don't shine..

Throw the University in jail…

Throw the University in jail! Take away it's voting rights!

UCLA sux and no alum can fix…

UCLA sux and no alum can fix them. He will be fired in a few years.

Not Jim's fault. All Warde's…

Not Jim's fault. All Warde's fault for not understanding that coaches likewise MUST ascend with additional responsibilities and job titles to cash in post-championship when an underling already took the head job. If a coach doesn't likewise get a promotion of some kind he loses out on a golden ticket and people ask why he was the one who didn't get a promotion and why would they offer him down the road.

This is all Warde's fault for not supporting Moore and developing a contingency plan and assessing probable coaching transfers before we even got to this point. The situation was far worse at Washington after the title game - but they had a competent AD with a strategy and their Athletic Department has worked it and they are not stressed over there now. Only M is - because Warde didn't do shit except hire Moore and say his job is done.

Honestly, I thought…

Honestly, I thought Washington was the most screwed I ever saw post championship game with their entire coaching staff gutted, roster transfered out, and already post hiring season and transfer portal opening. They have done a magnificent job filling their coaching vacancies quickly and competently and adding effective transfers to stop the bleeding as soon as possible.

And now there's Michigan, slowly losing their championship winning head coach like the department was hibernating as Harbaugh slow-walked to the NFL. The AD hired the appropriate guy quickly (+1) and then did not having ANY idea what comes next for anyone else nor has he shown any plan on how to support his new coach nor where to expect the need to fill impending vacancies. It is not Washington but Michigan who is sleep walking on every move.

Hiring Moore is beginning to look like the AD never anticipated that many coaches would leave or that many would simply view staying as a lateral move at best coming off a resume-building championship coaching performance where they need to cash in on their progress with an actual promotion somewhere in the sport. You can stay when your champ winning coach stays - but it's a lot harder to justify when some underling gets the new job and you simply retain your old post. People wonder why you didn't get a promotion as well.

Moore feels stuck with his pants down and the department has shown no plan or ability to act fast to help him close these ranks while Washington has clearly worked a plan every day which shows their progress.

This diary post and simple observation and deducement make it clear Warde sux...

And that Gene Smith really was that good as the one constant at Ohio and largely responsible for their incredible run of success.

Typical UCLA. Attracts studs…

Typical UCLA. Attracts studs because they are prestigious and in LA. Otherwise a joke of a program that can't actually win as a team.

Respectfully tell them to…

Respectfully tell them to divorce if they would be bankrupt. She will not be responsible for his medical debt if it was only in his name.

Am I wrong?

Everyone is going after the…

Everyone is going after the Ravens staff right now because of their success and Michigan's success. It's clearly working at all levels.

However, there is no one magic formula and these things are always cyclical in football. Today it's Harbaugh's bruising offense in response to the spread pass, and the Ravens D.

What offense and what defense will be the answer from tomorrow's adjustments??

Would be good to anticipate and to know for staffing..

Could we fucking get…

Could we fucking get organized already? How about one league and a players union. Is that so much to ask?

Simple. The Chiefs were…

Simple. The Chiefs were poised like they had experience. The Ravens were not. Like they hadn't.

Anyone supporting Warde is…

Anyone supporting Warde is genuinely retarded. How can an AD even justify not talking to your NC winning coach about his contract negotiations?

"Are we in the ballpark?"

"How do you feel?"

"What is important to you?"

"What do you want and need?"

"Are you leaning towards the NFL no matter what we offer?"

None of it. Just an asshole who mystifyingly still has a job..

I already love Moore. He did…

I already love Moore. He did cry on TV his second time out there. Some logic can actually help your arguments, ladies and gents.

I don't know why the hell…

I don't know why the hell you are here, dude. But I can call it honestly and remove some of the bias.

Your parallels are present. And now it's time for Moore to prove he deserves to be here. LFG...

I hope he wins forever. I…

I hope he wins forever. I never hope we have a multi-decade coach again.

And first black head coach…

And first black head coach in program history for team 145. A long overdue moment for him and Michigan and to be roundly celebrated.

I saw a lot of buckeyes…

I saw a lot of buckeyes posting about third base. The parallels are not absent. Moore needs to show them they are wrong. LFG.

I think what a lot of people…

I think what a lot of people are failing to understand is that there are a lot of divisions in confidence and opinion about what has transpired. The fact there is tremendous division is a sign of fractured leadership and sufficient indictment alone to warrant consideration of removal. Warde has earned this division through poor leadership and a failure to control the narrative to any degree and instead let everyone run around with rumor and conjecture and division.

That's bad for a culture. It's all related to his position and his failure to promote an effective culture from his position. He should be gone for that alone.

It's becoming increasingly…

It's becoming increasingly obvious only dumb-dumbs can't see that in fact it was Warde who reignited the flames of Harbaugh's desire for a Super Bowl. It was also Warde who pushed Harbaugh out by denying him contract language Harbs needed until it was too late.

As far as Warde is concerned this was not mishandled or botched and Harbaugh going was not a foregone conclusion. He successfully forced him out.

Harbs is happy to chase a Super Bowl because it's a great test, but he went to the NFL because he loves Michigan so much he could never consider taking over another college program.

Go Moore. We support you.

Barner definitely for depth…

Barner definitely for depth. He won't go high because he's not a modern receiver playing TE a la Kelce. But, he's an incredible run blocker and an effective alternate option receiving. That's Harbaugh's offensive M.O.

And I don't care how much he produced in college Sainristil is dropping far just because of his size and how that projects against NFL receivers. Harbaugh would like to grab him summa dat.

Finally: Keegan or to a lesser degree Jones and Barnhart. Especially the former having started forever and being a culture guy who led the turnaround. A real leader and a captain when all the scouts were only oozing over Zinter. Keegan may not be as tangibly valued by other scouts. Jim knows bringing culture in will be huge in orchestrating a turnaround with the Chargers and if Keegan falls in the draft - or even Barnhart or Jones - he may take a swing at em.

Or better yet: trade Herbert…

Or better yet: trade Herbert so he could move up and draft JJ to throw 8 times!

Michigan was not so stupid…

Michigan was not so stupid as to understand the implications of playing Harbaugh that way in the public eye and with the rumor mills abounding. They have jobs to protect, too. They - I mean Warde - likely played it that way to make it look like he tried to keep Harbaugh while really denying Harbaugh what he wanted until it was too late. He pushed him out the door so he could bring in his boy. Sorry, not sorry. It's no secret Warde has never been Jim's guy. Ever. I also don't give Warde credit for ascending so far in the business world without understanding how these games of internal politics work. He plays them and plays them well. That's how he got this far. And he's at it again. Like a true politician. And people are sheep who merely think politicians are simpleton morons and not extremely manipulative, opinionated, Princes by Machiavelli. You make seven figures or lead massive departments in the public sphere - you play these games.

Be glad we are not…

Be glad we are not Washington. I can't remember a time when both Natty participants had coaches take the credit for that game and split, leaving both programs more or less desperate to figure out how to retain any gains that should have come from making it that far.

This is where Ohio and Bama and others succeed so well. Their cultures consolidate their positions at the top and stay at the crest year after year. The ride never ends.

With DeBoer bolting, Washington's roster going to the NFL or splitting off with the portal I cannot remember a program so disadvantaged as Washington who only gets to attempt to salvage next year as they join a new conference well after the portal moves were already completed. They are staring down the face of a six and six season and losing all the gains playing for a Natty should have realized.

Meanwhile, at M the worry is a culture slip as Ohio throws all the monies and inducements it can at the problem showing they don't know how to relent and accept failure. That's a compliment. The worry becomes, will M back down now that they won the Natty? Do they go into Columbus and play with a vibe of "we had our little three game streak and won a Natty so it's ok to lose again"? And this can't be a repeat of '98 starting the next season off like a bust. In this day, successful programs don't shoot the moon. They find ways to ascend the mountaintop and to consolidate those gains and stay there.

2024 is not a relaxing ride. It is a quest to prove M has ascended to the ranks of the truly elite and can sustain that level.. especially against Ohio and especially when their head coach just walked out the door after winning it all (you don't see that anywhere else).

100% You have to give Sheila…

100% You have to give Sheila Ford far more credit than she has been receiving. It does start at the top. There's reasons franchises consistently win and lose. It's not simply the coaches.

He kept an NCAA immunity…

He kept an NCAA immunity clause out of the contract until Jim had pretty much completed the hiring process with the Chargers.

Educate yourself on politics. That's how you make it look like you want someone to stay while denying them what they need to stay so when they leave it had nothing to do with you. So you could install YOUR boy.

Whether it happened exactly that way or not he lost control of the narrative with this dragged out affair. Combined with other acts like skipping the football banquet and Santa Ono announcing the extension last year and not him.. you need to wake up. Whether he ran him out or not he has run out of deserving trust in his ability to do his job.

Warde needs to be gone. Yesterday.

Jim never said it was about the NFL first. He made it very clear it was about the love. Take Jim at his word. He was pushed out by admins withholding the love he needed until it was too late so it looks like it was only the NFL all along.

I'm mad we couldn't have…

I'm mad we couldn't have DeBoer because of the timing. But at the same time I am so excited for Moore and so grateful his time has come, and this time for him at the University of Michigan. I hope DeBoer faceplants at Bama and Moore is supported and achieves all we believe he can and more.

Love this. Way overdue as an…

Love this. Way overdue as an aside to hiring the best man.

Serious questions about how negotiations with Harbaugh were handled. Rumors only. But rumors he was not granted immunity for NCAA stuff and then he was in a desperate bid to keep him..

Serious questions..

Of course none of this has…

Of course none of this has to do with inducements. All of these recruits just think Ohio State is the shit now after losing to Michigan again one year after they chose different schools.

SEC culture to be sure..

PSU will take strides…

PSU will take strides forward in relation to Drew Allar's freshman to sophomore leap. They will be better if only because their offense cannot be worse against functional defenses.

They will never have a truly…

They will never have a truly down period again in this current era when you can overhaul a roster each off-season. So it's not worth reveling in a pending demise, because it ain't comin'. They will compete each year and M will still have to find a way to out do them.

BOB ain't gonna take that…

BOB ain't gonna take that job unless he gets to call plays. I can see them both yelling at each other over who gets to call plays in some key moments..

They are both strong personalities who want it their way.

Nixon called Texas for the oil money and the ostracized conservative Democrat vote. He didn't call Penn State because he wasn't trying to win the progressive liberal vote.

I LOVE the black toupe in the back..

Something you're forgetting…

Something you're forgetting though is part of what makes the offense successful is the threat of a big play QB like JJ. It's 2022 Ohio State. It's knowing if you crowd the line to stop the run and from there disguise your blitzes the QB will not make mistakes and instead bury you with poise and quick decisions.

That's the difference. You can do that to a freshman and eat him alive.

Fucking drag it out already,…

Fucking drag it out already, coach..

Also, I feel like that's kinda dirty to post that by the player.

Let's hope it's very similar. I hope he and Bama crash and burn scandalously.
