Can't wait for an announcer to say "George Washington just crossed that guy over like he was the Delaware!"

This was probably the…

This was probably the greatest intro any guy on a broadcast crew has done at Michigan stadium since Keith Jackson.

Moar please!

Oh pull the stick out of…

Oh pull the stick out of your hiney.  I was watching with my 10 year old *and* my elderly parents.  Everyone thought it was hilarious.

The 10 year old has been raised in a world of Jake Butt and endless butt jokes.  He knows where babies come from and how they are made.  Orgies were a new thing to explain - but it's not that hard to parent and explain it in a toned-down way that mostly made him go "huh" and scratch his head.

Best color man in years…

Best color man in years. Both insightful and funny. Reminded me of Jalen doing college hoops color in the old days. Love that he took time to go into the tunnel, into the gym with players, around town. More please!

While we're talking about…

While we're talking about awesome suicide squeeze plays - let's not overlook the double squeeze they executed against Rutgers on Sunday.

They did this against Creighton in the 2019 CWS as well - see https://twitter.com/jgrantindc/status/1135734836960866304.

This year the camerawork on BTN was so crappy they didn't even capture a good view of it to link.

Was Brandon Johns hurt or…

Was Brandon Johns hurt or benched?  I’d have expected to see him at the 5 before Jace or Faulds.

Can we get kid sizes?  My 10 year old is obsessed with Mr. Brightside, but a kids M is all he can handle.

It looks like the shirts are all "printed as you order" so it'd be great to throw smaller sizes in the mix.

My family is ready to consume!

I've been a handful of times…

I've been a handful of times with my kids - the one advantage of having Maryland in the Big 10 is you get a de-facto home game every other year.  We'll be there Saturday.

College Park is...not Ann Arbor.  The campus is meh at best and the restaurants just outside the campus are nothing to get excited about.  There is no Zingermans or Frita Batidos or Red Hawk that is worth the trip.  With a 330 game I'll probably eat beforehand and then head out to the stadium from DC around 145 or 2.  You will want to buy parking beforehand at https://umd.aceparking.com/events/reserve/1072.

The stadium itself has pretty decent food, the best options are in the concourse by the endzone behind the student section.  Good sausage, crab cakes, etc.  The stadium has few redeeming features, but they do have an on-campus creamery with some special flavors named after Turgeon and Locksley.  It will be cold but the ice cream is the best thing in the stadium.

Good luck with things and Go Blue!

1993 MSU game. I was sitting in the student section with a friend from Moo U. Dressed in maize and blue, of course. After the drunk students behind me knocked my Michigan hat off several times, I eventually got jumped by them and passed up about 50 rows. The whole time, the entire student section was chanting “Over! Over!” I was seriously concerned that they were drunk and stupid enough to actually throw me over the top of the stadium, because Sparty.

Thankfully, somebody lost their grip on me and I got dropped about 5 rows from the top. Then some bitchy girl started screaming at me “Get your Wolverine ass outta here!” and kicked me until I could scramble to my feet and get back to my seat.

Also we lost. 17-7.

This was the only game I…

This was the only game I skipped in my 4 years at Michigan.  For MSU or OSU I'd have braved the weather.  For Purdue - naw man.

I recall two things about the game:

1. Rooting (while watching it from my house on Arbor Street) for Purdue to get a safety at the end of the game so the score would be 5-2.

2. Interviewing Yo La Tengo that night when they played at the Blind Pig, telling him about the game, and him asking "you sure that wasn't a hockey game?"

I come a lot less - and when…

I come a lot less - and when I visit, I interact with it less.  For a site that depends on page views and frequent interaction for revenues, that can't be a good thing.

Given that a professional design firm was involved, I'm a little surprised at how this came out.  The UX is really lacking, a site in 2018 shouldn't be so confusing.

I also miss the app - the "mobile friendly" site is not that mobile friendly.  I used to check the app 8-10 times a day.  Now, I usually wait til I'm at my desktop.  That's not a good sign.

For an 8 year old - go with this

My 7 year old and his friends all love this Nerf ball

https://www.amazon.com/Nerf-N-Sports-Weather-Conditions-Football/dp/B00…

Much easier for small hands to throw and catch - making pickup games a lot more fun.

I guess these are Ron Bellamy's Overachieving All Stars?
Very interested

Been loking for something like this for years. shikselover at hotmail.com

I'd gladly pay for an app that works.

I'd gladly pay for an app that works. The iPhone app just keeps crashing.  This makes it hard to view ads that generate revenue for the site.

Years ago, Brian talked about creating a "premium" offering for folks who would pay X dollars per year to have an ad-free experience. I'd gladly do this to have a way to actually get the content through a reliable channel.

There was a market for the HD app because it WORKED.

iPhone MGoBlog app crashes every time

I'd be happy to use the "blessed" app -- if it worked.  Every time I try to view something, it crashes.

Yes I am using the latest version.

I understand the need to support your ad model, but if the app don't work... hard to consume!

Tyquan without Raekwon just won't be the same. Tyquan without Raekwon just won't be the same.

Loved the final play They lined up against us thinking that theirs was bigger. Our response was very simple: http://youtu.be/LnzYG0ZkrXg
When I went to the Richmond When I went to the Richmond game a few weeks ago, lots of people just parked on the side of the road (Route 1) near the campus entrance. Free and a 10-15 minute walk. Seemed to be the locals' thing to do.
Balls Balls Balls Balls Balls

Hail Brady for managing to say Balls so many times with a straight face.  He masterfully appealed to the 12 year old boy in all of us.  And in doing so, treated this with the exact ammount of seriousness that it deserves.   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/22/tom-brady-balls_n_6527872.html

Best presser ever New rule: any QB who can say the word Balls with a straight face that many time in a press conference can inflate the ball however he wants. http://mashable.com/2015/01/22/tom-bradys-balls/
I love that he dropped I love that he dropped science, literally, with his physics reference to the pendulum. This is an AD that definitely belongs at Michigan.
Well said. Dantonio does the Well said. Dantonio does the Dantonio-dick thing - not content to simply smush us, he takes every opportunity to take more gratuitous shots at the program - and Hoke apologizes. What a chump. As bad as the on field performance was, THIS was the most embarrassing aspect of the weekend.
Why is this front page news?

I'd be happy to read about this in the weekly recruiting update.  But offers to random 3-stars who are unlikely to come to Michigan don't qualify as something that shoudl be the first thing I see when I come to the MGoBlog page.  This is not big news deserving its own headline.

Better not get T'd up...

I noticed Spike doing this yesterday -- it was great to see, but if the NCAA decides to follow the NBA on this, could lead to some big Ts (rather than big Bs). Grantland did a story on this earlier in the year... http://grantland.com/the-triangle/balls-out-in-defense-of-the-sam-casse…

Unless We play them both at the same time. Which, like, why?
Some overtime games might help... Otherwise your suggestion is mathematically impossible.
Jake Butt MGoShirt Plz...

That sign is awesome.  How has this not happened already?

Any idea how long to plan for a drive? I am pondering driving up from Washington DC, and am wondering how bad traffic is on again day. Google maps suggest it's about a 3 1/2 hour drive, but I'm sure it takes much longer to get in given all of the game day traffic. I welcome any tips from folks who have done the road trip before. Thanks!
Johnnetta Cole in 96...

...Johnnetta Cole was just awful.  Here I am, graduating from the University of Michigan, and my graduation speaker is:  the president of a small women's college that I've never heard of?

I actually went into it with an open mind, thinking "hey, if they brought her here, she must be really interesting."  She wasn't.

If I did not live in DC I would hate this.

Swapping out regular games with longtime rivals like Iowa and Minny for games with...Rutgers and Maryland?  Bleh.

That said, since I live in DC, this means I can now take the Metro to a Michigan football game every other year.  Which is rather awesome.

Given all the alums out here, it won't be too hard to turn this into a de-facto home game.  Nobody cares about Maryland football.

My only question is...

...what the heck was he doing up in East Lansing right after the Minnesota game?  The article says he got pulled over at 1:33am on November 4th.

The team started the day in Minnesota whupping the Gophers, and while he didn't play (ulnar nerve boo-boo), he was on the sideline.  So he flew back with the team, then jumped on the road and went to East Lansing?

Note that I'm not questioning the guy's right to be up there -- just curious as to what was worth driving up for?  It's not like he's a popular guy in that town.

How'd you find...

...a pic of teenage Brady Hoke at a basketball game?

Prince's Hot Chicken

If you have a car, the one place you must eat at is Prince's Hot Chicken Shack.

The experience is like none other, and the chicken superb.  One dude, 4 cast iron pans...one for mild, one for medium, one for hot and one for extra hot.

The surroundings are not great -- mostly used tire stores and porn shops.  Actually, come to think of it, those are both ideal for a bachelor party.

What killed me about this play...

...was that Borges put Devin in.  Denard has been plagued all year by "good Denard/bad Denard" moments -- largely related to what kind of momentum he has.  This has been particularly true with his longer downfield throws.

So the moment he completed the long pass to Roundtree, I said to my buddy "that was beautiful!  Good Denard is emerging!"  And then he gets pulled at QB the very next play.  I can't think of any better way to kill the guy's positive momentum than to pull him just as he is getting going.

While the announcers kept complaining about using Devin in the MSU game (why pull your best player off the field?), I had no problem putting Devin in there, as Denard's passing was awful.  But in this game -- man, this was not the time to pull him.

Thank God.

I never minded the yellow piping of the Henne days, but the yellow side panels looked cheesy.  With a classic uniform like Michigan's, why add such a tacky element?  If it wasn't for the classic helmets, I'd say we looked like a crappy Big East school.

The new all-white design looks awesome.

So actually, Esquire and GQ are different magazines.

However, the fact that Brian does not recognize this may actually speak well of him.

Awesome report!

Makes me wish I was there.  Between the Denard love for Michigan and the Freep diss, what a wonderful moment.

Now hopefully Hoke can figure out a way to tweak his offense to take advantage of Denard's talents.  As much as I loved RR's offense, one limitation was that it didn't train it's QB to be ready for the NFL (see Pat White's one and done career), which I found sad given our long streak of placing QBs in the pros.  If Hoke can fuse Denard into something that both utilizes his speed and also has elements of a pro-style offense, we'll kick ass and get him ready to QB at the next level.

The club seats did a great job too...

I figured they'd be full of old fuddy-duddies, but I was sitting just a couple rows in front of them in section 41 and loved that the folks in front were banging hard on the old maize "halo" on key plays.  The banging on the metal made a helluva racket.

A sellout would be quite a change...

When I went down there a few years ago (2004 I think) for the Michigan-Indiana game, the stadium was half empty and it was almost embarrassing how quiet it was.  I was sitting toward the top of the stadium and IU fans at the bottom kept looking up at me annoyed that i was cheering so loudly for Michigan.

The fact that they could hear me from where I was sitting pretty much told you all you needed to know about IU's crowd noise.
