Can we get an All B1G list based on selections by Brian, Ace, and Heiko? I feel like it would be much more accurate and fair than the official pile of crap lists. It seems like the people selecting (even the coaches) don't know jack. |

I was just thinking the same thing. The atmosphere in the Big House when he walked onto the field was my best experience there so far, bar none. Unforgettable. Way to go Brock!!! |
| 35 weeks 1 day ago | Agreed |
Good read. I find it utterly ironic that Dantonio said that line about "where's the threat" because as I recall, it was him that said "pride comes before the fall" after Hart immortalized the little brother terminology in 2007..... |

While I agree the joke is harmless and not really that bad, I just wouldn't want to be a recruit that saw that type of talk on here. Not saying we we get a lot of them, but it's possible. I agree that criticism of the staff is sometimes warranted (I do it too), but not when it comes to the abilities of a player. I think in this particular scenario they've earned our trust. But how does JUB put it? UM fans are more like opera critics than football fans? ;) |
| 1 year 1 week ago | come on |
I really don't like that we're criticizing the recruitment of Sypniewski so much. If the staff felt he deserved a scholarship, who are we to judge? Give the kid a chance. Just throwing that out there. |

| 1 year 23 weeks ago | Talent is not always king: |
Talent is not always king: please see The Horror. But I know it plays a big role. I know we have talent, I'm not oblivious to this. I guess I should clarify. In my head I was thinking that I'd rather have the honest hard-working players come to Michigan (and still be talented) than try to bring in all the best guys no matter what their motivations/morals are (ie TP). The SEC is in a self-sustaining cycle: they win a lot, which brings in the best players, which makes them win a lot, etc. But that's why the oversigning needs to stop. Until it does, beating them will be that much sweeter because they're giving themselves an unfair leg up. |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | Hell, we'd probaly have a |
Hell, we'd probaly have a billion recruits if we also put coeds in our recruits' hotels before they get there (like some schools), but that's not how Michigan works. I've heard people say "UM just needs to start playing the game the way it's played today" or "We should be like Alabama, I don't care how we win national championships as long as we win them". But as our immortalized godfather of football said in his book: "It all boils down to basic honesty. Without that, you won't accomplish a single thing worthwhile." So let's beat the hell out of them this fall to show them hard work beats talent every time. |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | love that pic |
Best moment of the game was laughing my ass off at Denard's expression as he ran onto the field at the end. He goes from "Ya we won!" to "HOLY SHIT WE JUST WON THE SUGAR BOWL!!!" |

Ya, Mike is lightning fast. But BWC gets there about the same time as RVB and the rest of the line. Not saying I don't wish he was faster, but he shoves his man backward, so it's not like he got blown up. Give him 8 more months in the Mattison-Hoke-Montgomery School of Monster Dline Technique, and I'm sure we'll be happy with the results. Obviously our faith in this coaching staff is warranted. |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | lolz |
It's just Sparty whining. They had 7 home games. Last time I checked, the difference between 7 and 8 is ONE. Ya, big advantage there. Maybe if they had the winningest team in the country they'd get to play at home more, too. And if they want to talk about home advantage, they beat us and Wisky at home. Some people aren't even worth arguing with, which includes ALL Sparty fans. |

It was funny to watch on the replay. He just throws his whole body at that lineman, who barely gets lifted off one foot. The big fella was probably thinking "da fuck?" |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | hmm |
He does look big, but it's nothing Wellman and a few days in the gym can't fix. But ya, he can't let himself go just to get bigger. Game shape is what it's all about. |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | lol |
Ref called the TD good and the replay guys (correctly) overturned it, so....what do you want? |
| 1 year 23 weeks ago | The Team |
Can't believe how proud these Michigan Men make me of our great university. I can't wait to see what type of impact they make in their futures on and off the field. Great victory for these seniors and THE TEAM! |

| 1 year 24 weeks ago | Speaking of this |
Also going to Crisler for the first time tonight. Is parking the same situation as going to the Big House? Or are there actual options near the stadium that won't cost me an arm and a leg? |
| 1 year 27 weeks ago | Ridiculous |
Illinois requested the same waiver for Beckman and his staff. They said something to the effect of "if Ohio gets to do it, then so should we". It's a real slippery slope the NCAA is standing on, but what's new? |

M adds another two scores if Denard doesn't throw the picks. When he threw the second, he had Koger running unabated into the endzone. So painful to watch, but they looked very prepared for this game. Offense finally got rolling and the defense adjusted, as has become the theme this year!! :D |
| 1 year 36 weeks ago | Agreed |
In addition, Schofield/Barnum ≠ Adam Kraus. The whole line needs to hold up to open holes, bc you can't run behind only one guy. Unless you're Denard and you run behind nobody. |
| 1 year 36 weeks ago | great work |
I love this new feature. Keep up the great work Heiko!! |
| 1 year 37 weeks ago | different day, same story |
Okay, we get it. Brian thinks Pop Evil is bad, therefore everyone adopts that opinion, therefore Brian writes about it every day. It's like beating a dead horse..... Anyway, I like the song AND the band. Listen to Last Man Standing and Monster You Made. They're good songs. At least I think so. And if you don't then that's fine with me. I hate country music with a passion, but everybody has a right to like what they want. What I find hilarious is that everyone thinks this will be the start of armageddon for DB and M athletics. DB is doing a terrific job and he's not going anywhere any time soon. The stadium experience is changing, so either quit your bitching and get behind your university or just keep your grumpy old man-esque comments and attitude at home. I'm sure the Big House will still sell out without you. |
| 1 year 37 weeks ago | hahaha |
I love the idea of converting everything to "Denard Yards". I wonder if there's a way we can petition to have it made a new Standard International unit. I'm just gonna start using it. |
| 1 year 38 weeks ago | Good idea |
I'm the same way. I love popping in the DVD of a game while I'm doing homework. It gives me a little distraction every once in a while. However, the rights to them are a nightmare. I wish they would produce every game on DVD with the home footage with Brandstatter/Beckmann commenting. I've watched the '05 PSU game a million times..... |

| 1 year 41 weeks ago | stop freaking out |
I really don't understand what the big deal is with Pop Evil. If you took the time to notice, the stadium cheered when the song was played, so people obviously like it. That's what the stadium experience should be about: pleasing the crowd, not pleasing the debbie downers that don't like rock and the prototypical stuck-up Michigan alumni that think rock isn't classy enough for them. And the MMB played The Victors when the team came from the tunnel. The piped in music was still playing but only about 3 seconds into the band's playing. I'm sure it was a timing thing. There were a few of them. As a former member of my hs band, I love the MMB, but a little other music here and there is perfectly acceptable and apparently desired by the crowd. I'm sure the MMB would have played a lot more if Western's band wasn't playing after every freaking play..... |
| 1 year 41 weeks ago | Thanks! |
It's great to rewatch the game to see how everybody performed instead of watching the ball when the game's live.
And I know this is OT for this thread so I'll take the neg, but I'm looking for two ticket stubs from the game. Preferably the nice ones with the picture on them, not the plain white ones. Unfortunately stubhub now does the print at home thing, and I like to collect tickets. If anyone has them for purchase please contact me: shep4569@gmail.com Thanks guys |

1. Stretch left, #20 behind #77 like the good ol' days 2. Hemingway on a bomb from Denard 3. Jake Ryan on a pick six 4. Martin (duh) 5. TWoolf |

That's the gate to paradise. After the game on Saturday you and me and 113,000 of our closest friends will pour out of them to hit the AA bars in celebration!!! Go Blue!! |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | I like to think that in that |
I like to think that in that picture of Hoke he's showing Fickell how big the diamonds are in his NC ring. |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | I see your point |
But I assume I'm going to irritate you if I say "you can't please everybody". Seriously though, I don't think the league would have been thrilled about having the two traditional powerhouse teams in the same division. Indiana has to beat Michigan AND tsio to win the division? That's why it didn't fly. Anyway, DB wasn't the only one that decided the alignment. I believe there was overwhelming support to split the two schools. As much as we (sometimes arrogant) Michigan fans like to believe, it's not all about us. What I think we gain from this is an important game with Nebraska, a continued rivalry with MSU (which now takes on added significance), and a renewal of the rivalry between M and Minnesota. |

Molk strikes me as the perfect type of player for Hoke. He's tough, quiet, hardworking, and intimidating. If he learns to point, watch out..... |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | I think we could see a |
I think we could see a version of the screen where Gardner is the QB and Denard is the receiver/back set up for the screen. There are so many things that could happen there. Run the screen or Gardner can throw the deep ball when the defense implodes while trying to figure out who to cover, or the transcontinental. I can see this causing massive seizures in our opponents' defenses. |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | Oy veh.... |
I didn't even think about all the crappy coverage we're gonna see leading up to it. That game was my first soul-dong punch as a UM undergrad: fresh out of high school and at my first game in the Big House as a college student. Could have gone much better.
However, I defend DB for this. We shouldn't ever not play someone bc we might lose. The truth is, they'll prob be an FBS team in a few years. They're not exactly Delaware St. AMIRIGHT? |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | I agree with unWavering. If |
I agree with unWavering. If tsio was in our division we'd never play them for the conference championship. Where's the fun in that? Bo says no. And even though I like the idea of playing them again, beating App. St. won't redeem Michigan. I think it will sting less, but we'll still be ridiculed. I can hear it now, as if Sparty isn't annoying enough as it is...... |
| 1 year 42 weeks ago | I agree that Denard can be |
I agree that Denard can be captain next year. The honor should really go to seniors. I also like the idea of one per side, but I don't think it's always applicable. I think you just go with the seniors that show great leadership. Molk, Martin, and TWoolf would get my vote. |
| 1 year 43 weeks ago | I've sat in pretty much every |
I've sat in pretty much every location, high to low and endzone to endzone. I really liked the tickets I had a couple years ago on the north 25 in row 15. However, I really like to sit up top. The bird's eye view is unbeatable. I happen to be one of the "down in front people" (yes, I'm 22 not 62) so it's nice to not have to pay good money to have a dbag shoving his ass in your face the whole time. Sorry, but not every play warrants me standing up. |

Smith is listed at 172.....that's tweener for a RB. I'm interested to see how well Hopkins performs in camp. Looks like he gained a little weight, but he could definitely be the next Rageback, akin to Minor. |

It is ridiculously expensive to buy season tickets in advance. I know that as students we get a discount, but the deadline was in the middle of March. I wish I could afford it but I don't really have the extra $250 to buy a season ticket that early. I have the money now that it's summer and I'm working more, but like I said the deadline was in March. It makes much more sense for me to buy individual tickets to the games I really want to attend. As long as the school gets the money I don't see how it could hurt. |

Yes, the UM football team, the team that has more wins than anyone in D1, will be content with no more championships ever. That makes sense right? Seriously, where do they find these "journalists"? |
| 3 years 30 weeks ago | Whatever |
Remember how everyone felt after that epic win against ND this year? All the panic and accusations went away like they were never there, all because of one game. So he's trying to say that won't happen with a win in THE GAME? For a sports columnist he's not very good at observing sports, is he? |
