What's risky about bringing…

What's risky about bringing a guy in with a history of skipping class, not listening to coaches, and fighting teammates?  It may work out, but it's a risk.  High upside, sure; but still.

al.com reported he got…

al.com reported he got kicked out of Houston for tardiness, skipping classes, insubordination, and fighting with teammates.  Source claims the same issues that had him booted from Alabama. Maybe he grew up in the meantime, but that seems like a real risky proposition.

6'2 ain't a giant for a pocket passer QB, but I wouldn't go that far.  He got the line to gain, though.

It's been so long since I logged in I had to go get my pwd reset to reply to this one.

Its easily, easily Resolving the Parallax Error.

Assuredly meant nothing to Harbaugh with his hands 15 inches apart or the 'ref is from Columbus!' crowd, but here we are.

Chasing sports, I went from…

Chasing sports, I went from Sling to Hulu to YouTube to nothing after YouTube raised their price $15/mo. the third or fourth month I was a subscriber.  Now I just stream that shit.  Sick of being jerked around, sick of being inconvenienced when two media behemoths get into a tiff.

My first thought on this is…

My first thought on this is that Dan Gilbert is an MSU alum, and (I assume) Quicken competes with this company.  Wonder what he'll kick in to one-up this guy?

The calls that bother me are…

The calls that bother me are those like the first; Ole Miss LB looked like he went facemask to shoulder, but the back lowered his head to brace for impact.  The argument is that he should have aimed lower, but at the split second he committed to the hit he was fine.

I can't help here, but…

I can't help here, but seeing as how you're a Glass City resident, is that split OSU/UM store still in business?  I think it is/was on Conant between the turnpike and rte 24.  I used to be up that way often, but haven't since covid

Mine are usually pink,…

I have three hydrangea bushes (?) that predate my time in the house, and I've been here since 2009.  They are usually pink, purple, and blue, but they've been pretty white and brown for most of the summer. I recall reading somewhere that despite their name and common knowledge, it's fairly easy to overwater them, but I definitely neglected mine this summer.

There's this old saw that…

There's this old saw that Browns fans dislike Wolverines because Cleveland is OSU country (which it is, by and large). I remember Aaron Shea being interviewed on a sports radio show right after Braylon left, and he trashed that stereotype.

We didn't like Braylon because he was a prima donna whose mouth wasn't backed up by his hands.  He blamed fan dislike for Michigan because nothing was ever his fault.

The problem with Peppers is that he was drafted a round too high and plugged into a strange one-deep secondary idea that didn't work.  That said, I don't recall him getting undeserved flak from fans, especially after his gun was stolen from his car and used in a subsequent homicide (meaning; no one gave him grief for events totally out of his control).

DPJ is catching on here because he's really, really good, works hard, and doesn't get in trouble.  Same thing with Baker Mayfield: ask how many of us are still mad at him for planting the OU flag in Columbus (not many, if any).

The mascot study was…

The mascot study was conducted by Quality Logo Products, an Illinois company that prints logos on T-shirts, water bottles and other items

Well, that's definitely something.

My understanding is that Free Shoes pays the Seminole Tribe enough not to be offended

I have some interesting and incredibly well-researched (generally via Infowars) thoughts on covid, vaccinations, politics, and religion. Don't worry, I'll have my threads in soon.

Years ago as an undergrad, I…

Years ago as an undergrad, I interned in Target's Assets Protection Dept., mainly looking at reports for possible fraud instances.  One day I was walking the floor with a loss prevention guy, and came upon a middle aged man sitting in front of the sportscard area with what appeared to be a marijuana scale.  Asked the loss prevention guy what that was all about, and he told me the really rare (thus valuable) cards often weigh a tiny bit more than regular cards, so packs of cards that were a little heavier than most others might have those cards in them.  That's when I knew that hobby was done for; no more 50¢ for 15 Topps cards and a stick of gum; just a business for adults.

I watch a lot of UFC, so ESPN+ is a bargain in that regard.  I am pissed that they appear to have dropped rugby.  If you like college baseball and basketball, there's a ton of content on +.

I was actually unaware (until I read this topic) that there's some print media benefits to subscribing as well, not that I believe I'll take much advantage of that.

Assuming Stroud is the guy…

Assuming Stroud is the guy this year, McCord and Ewers battle for mop up duty.  All three compete to start next year,  and it wouldn't surprise me if the two runners up leave then.  Such is life filling a position room with high 4* and 5* guys.

Junior year undergrad I was a security guard for Pinkerton in an office building.  I had to call in every hour to show I wasn't sleeping.  I slept 58 minutes of every hour.

Yanks or Sawks, who ya got?

I'm rooting for the meteor here

My understanding is that…

My understanding is that rushers need carries to get in a rhythm, especially early in their careers and in individual seasons.  Michigan's inability to fully trust one guy is what cost them Charbonnet, imo.  Checking box scores and seeing him get seven carries one game and zero the next made it no real surprise he wanted to go elsewhere and be the bell cow.  First string/2nd/etc is supposed to be worked out in fall camp, at least initially.

The thing you gotta keep on mind with Bimmers is that you'll need to make sure the blinker fluid reservoir isn't always empty.  Very common mistake

I'm in Cleveland, so it isn't my district, but goddamn I wish someone would really dig in to what Jim Jordan knew and what (if anything) he did with that knowledge.

Edit: if seeing the alleged victims coming forward in Michigan inspired those in Ohio to do the same; good.

That's very interesting- the other side of the portal we don't see; but probably much more common than a guy who leaves a big time school and commits to another right away.

With other programs not being 'allowed' to talk to players before they're in the portal, a kid has to be very careful judging his worth.

Smart kid made a business decision.  Saves the wear and tear on his body until he's closer to getting paid for it.

I'll bet college coaches drop hints regularly that committed kids should consider this.

The most recent portal guy…

The most recent portal guy didn't qualify at SDSU, so he went juco before landing at academic powerhouse Oregon State.  I don't mean to disparage him, he may be a fine student; but to think that Michigan isn't willing to let players transfer in unless they're veritable Ivy Leaguers is flat out incorrect.

Wisconsin and Northwestern either don't relax the requirements for football players, or they don't relax them much.  Every other school, Michigan included, is letting athletes in that wouldn't have a prayer if they were held to the same academic standards as the typical incoming freshman

I bought a leather pair of Hugo Boss sneakers new on eBay for like $100.  They look great, but are heavy-ish and not meant for running or playing basketball or whatever- so more for looks/comfort than action.

The trick is that I bought them 3 years ago and they absolutely will not wear out.  I've never had a pair of daily use shoes last this long, and unless something happens, they've got another 3 years in them easy.  I got these Weiman leather wipes and I just give them a quick once over when they get muddy.
