+1 for Uferbock. I prefer that to Harbock. Gotta do more than win a Citrus Bowl to earn a beer name.

What could have been... The guy was a legacy Tiger, who showed so much promise in 2012, but then tanked it hard in the World Series and saddled the Tigers with like two position players' worth of debt a year moving forward.

Truckee and surrounding enviros are pretty nice. Lots of mountain meadows, lakes, and trails.
|5 weeks 2 days ago||There are similarities||
There are similarities between Jim Crow and LGBT, but it's not a perfect comparison. LGBT exclusion was not often de jure (except in the case of the military). But there was violence against gay people in the U.S., and to a lesser extent there still is. (In San Francisco, there is an ugly history from like the 1950s through the 1970s of police basically bashing people at gay bars, and riots and marches in response to the same; this has also happened in Miami and other cities). That corporations have largely come to accept LGBT people does not mean that discrimination is not still problematic. Where I grew up in Michigan not that long ago these issues were unspeakable and discussed by whispers and innuendo. But there was a lot of casual gay bashing (e.g., kids played 'smear the queer' at recess, things that sucked were 'gay'). I think the NC law is motivated by this same animus. States should not sanction hate, and if they do it is illegitimate.

|5 weeks 4 days ago||A stretch||
With all due respect I think the dominance of UW and Tennessee have more to do with Don James and Phil Fulmer. Neither program had been there before. Plus Michigan did not really dominate in the 1990s like it did in the 70s and 80s. There was like a lull from 94 to 96. And uncertainty after Bo and Mo left.

Going to a Tigers game in '84 against the Royals. Also remember the Tigers winning it in '84.
First distinct Michigan football memory: listening to the '86 Ohio game with my dad sitting on the flooboards of his Cadillac to keep warm.

I hope you are right about that. I have seen somewhere north of 100 major league games, including dozens of playoff games in SF from 2010 onward. The most commanding pitching performance I have seen was in game 5 of the ALDS in Oakland, when JV pitched the whole game, hitting 97 with crazy movement into the ninth inning. Even (especially?) Oakland fans were in awe.

I wanted to neg you for the 'easiest schedule' in the Big 10 comment, but given the five home game start (the first three against UCF, Hawaii, Colorado), you could maybe make that argument, even though Michigan plays home against Penn State and Wisconsin, and then at Michigan State, Iowa, and Ohio State. I would qualify that by saying 'easiest schedule' among potential contenders.

York stuck him with his wife's bill after saying he'd pay for her, right?
It's a ballsack mcgee move, especially when York is a tremendously unpopular owner at dinner with a relatively influential Bay Area reporter.
If I were York I would have paid the whole thing. Let Kawakami write an article about how he is a good sport.
I think I get where York is coming from. The bet is the only thing he's won since his mother let him run the team. He's not letting go of that.

First sight. I was jamming her friend at the time, which made it complicated, but I somehow pulled off the switch (of course there was a period when neither would talk to me). Took her much longer to be in the same place.

OP that is an unwarranted hot take on Rod Stewart. South Park is a retrograde cultural virus that allows young people to form opinions without any context or appreciation of the subject matter.
Rod Stewart has talent, even if his best song other than "Maggie" is a Tom Waits cover.
I am not here to sing his praises, but he has more originality in the cuttings of his early 1990s Detlef Schrempf mullet than dudes like Justin Bieber could even imagine.

Yeah, I would be surprised if the Spurs beat the Warriors. The Warriors are as good defensively, that aspect to their game is overlooked. The Spurs are good at controlling tempo. Nobody is better, but the Warriors can attrition as well as anyone in a man to man grind.
OKC scares me because they can win on the Warriors own terms.
The meta truth is that the NBA in 2016 is weaker than its been since MJ first retired. As much as I love these Warriors they are not top 5 all time. Yet alone the best.

Even if those numbers are inflated by inclusion of figures like lost tuition from scholarships, there is no doubt the issue is endemic and a big reason why costs of attending college have sky rocketed.
