Good thread. Summer in LA living on the beach on a blow up bed with UCLA students and nights in Venice. Thai food, basketball on the beach, and the first time having an adult paycheck

Did roofing for a summer. Work sucks but paid well. Worked as hard for less removing trees. Doing roofing was difficult to break into actually, as there was a real reluctance to waste time training summer workers.

Hard to say. Rudock is not playing on the Iowa team from which these stats come. And State had a good team around Cook. Your QB does not need impressive numbers when your team dominates possession and can run the ball. What's uncertain about Michigan football is not the QB position, but the new system.

Bay Area media are not fools, exactly, and they have rightfully been on Jed York's case. Too many of them, including this guy, were writing articles last year about "dissent" within the team. These were leads hand-fed to them by the likes of Trent Baalke. I am happy things shook out the way they did, because I am a Michigan fan, but Kawakami et al. should be asking themselves tough questions about their coverage of the Niners in the year leading up to Harbaugh getting fired.

Slow, sad unravelling of Michigan public school districts. The sources are multiple and beyond the scope of this board.

Moeller never got a Mulligan, though. He never got another chance (the Lions never gave him a fair shake). He was irreparably damaged.

I don't think there is any doubt that Michigan wins more games from '95 forward with Gary Moeller as head coach. He was chosen by Bo for good reason: he was innovative, and a tremondous recruiter. With Lloyd Carr as DC and the rest of the staff Michigan is stacked, and wins probably ten to fifteen more games than they did over '95 to '05.
Some combination of Bo and Moeller are proably able to appoint a suitable successor around '05 or so, and more likely than not we do not have the slide from '07 to '14.
Here's the other side of the coin: we likely have a Carr-like figure as head coach right now, and not Jim Harbaugh, in this alternative universe.

The 2005 Alamo Bowl. Fitting end to what was, by the standards of those days anyway, a miserable year.

My dad sometimes gets nostalgic for those days at TIger Stadium. Those were lean times, but Trammel and Whitaker were called up in September of '77. And Parish and Morris were on the roster. That was a deep porch, straight away center at Tiger Stadium.

Candlestick. It was murder to get to the stadium, and for football there were many odd angles. I get that land is scarce in an around SF. But it would be a challenge to build a less inspiring stadium anywhere on the penninsula, which have some of the most breath-taking views in the U.S.
Levi Field is a tremendous upgrade qua the stadium itself, but the logistics are no better. It is lost in a maze of corporate industrial parks that make Southfield look quaint.

Second the love for Ryan Field. I like how it is integrated into Evanston, and nestled in the trees by the Lake. Didn't see too many Wildcat faithful when I went on a cold and drizzly night in November (2003), but there were pockets of old-timers here and there who were friendly, especially for a road crowd.

Are we limiting this to games personally viewed? If so, 1997 at Penn State. If not, 1948 Rose Bowl against USC. 49-0.

Some epic Trump trolling back before there was trolling. Loved the tension between 60's idealism and the 80's consumer culture (e.g., Mary Kay Commandos hunting down rescued test animals).

Hard to compare because the states are so heterogeneous. San Francisco can be friendly, especially if you're in the park on something or in the hood you've lived long enough to see the bar staff change over a few times, but leave your neighborhood and there are a lot of cold shoulders. LA is like 28 different places, each with its own code and subculture.

I have a '14 GT. Really like the G5s, but have to admit that the interior on the G6 is pretty slick (but it reminds me too much of a BMW).
Soon I will have to pick something up that is more family oriented. I am leaning towards an Explorer with Ecoboost. The new ones look sharp.

This is a pissant little press apparently owned by York family stoogies. It doesn't take too much to find a stoogie to do hack jobs like this in pissant Santa Rosa. It is a beatdown place with $ from mediocre wine interests, Peanuts nostalgia, and not much else.

Nothing beats Madtown for game drunkenness. Pregame drinking starts at like 6 and is way more widespread than just students. A lot of fun but I can see how it could get out of hand.

He would have stayed for more money. It's easy to spend someone else's money, especially when it's pizza money, but Illitch should have done it. Illitch has invested so much in the Tigers over the last fifteen years. A Word Series title would have perfected that investment, and left a legacy. That required Scherzer.
