Ohio State made it clear they weren't passing (AGAINST THAT SECONDARY ARGH!) so they loaded up on run defenders and played cover zero and stuff.
They also just rip upfield like mad dogs and they have the DL to do that with. I've known the main guys for awhile but there are some DL down the depth chart on MSU who really impressed versus Ohio State.
|18 hours 3 min ago||Agreed. Though the way the||
Though the way the college game is called these days you really need to be engaged with the guard to get those calls. For that reason I see a lot of middle FBS teams shifting away from that aggressiveness and just having the DTs play grabby vs zone teams. The big schools who can get those super-twitch monsters on DL don't want to do that though. They want to wreck stuff. That was a good identity for Michigan until Glasgow went down, but it may behoove us to have a couple guys down the roster who can play crafty.

I saw that, and understood why Bolden wasn't able to shoot his gap; that play is still mostly about Henry getting cut because that's an easy read for the RB. Still Bolden is shuffling instead of high-tailing after the handoff, and either way I'd like him to realize there's a huge hole and start mitigating the damage.

Someone emailed me asking where this Q&A is. Bacon's had it mostly done for awhile but there was one question about the typos that his publisher had to be the one to answer. Since "are you going to fix those?" also means "is there going to be a second print?" that couldn't be answered right away.
There is an answer now, but OSU week is jammed so expect this to come in the offseason.

I posted this yesterday as a diary because I just needed to vomit some words out without interrupting the schedule.

The UM press agent came down the box when Rudock was around 215 yards and told everyone that if he hits 250 OR 300 that only freshman Henne, Senior Brady and Senior Navarre had done it.

Thanks for replying here '87. I did consider you've been a fine member of the community for a lot if years but it was also a really bad idea for a post that caused some problems for us as we are trying to collaborate with some good OSU fans on this week's content.
The points will come back on March 1, and I didn't set you back so far that you can't get back to plus before then. You can still reply but I thought it fair to make you earn your way back to being able to start threads after that.

We bought new servers last year. The site redesign was completed but Brian hasn't gotten to it yet and that causes a lot of the problems. Live blogging got way too expensive.
Feedback is appreciated, though this week of all weeks is probably the least effective time to bring it up. Just getting the core content out on Thanksgiving week is a crunch and it's Ohio State week.

Make sure this stuff gets moderated immediately. Boliviating the OP. Talking shit to a rival is one thing but a thread just to call all fans of the rival losers is a bad look.

Thanks Yard Dog! I've heard that PSU and ND in particular like to put the parents as far as possible from the action; for Notre Dame at least there's really no bad seat in the house. I've also heard that Michigan is very accomodating; they get seats in the first section above the entrance at the 50 yard line. Sometimes you can tell a lot about a program by how they treat people who are unlikely to be able to do them a favor in return.
Please keep reproducing!!!

That question was about PSU's defensive line more than our RBs' vision. In our pre-chat Jared literally laughed when I started to talk about finding holes in their run defense.
|5 days 7 hours ago||I find it disingenuous to use||
I find it disingenuous to use less descriptive terms for what I want to say about a player. I think it's fair for me to crticize things I'm confident about a guy's game, just as it's fair for you to criticize my writing. Where is it written that we can't criticize each other for our crafts?
Also how many times have I talked about De'Veon Smith's astounding pain tolerance? I've had the foot injury he's playing through and I couldn't walk on that. And then he was stood up by four Hoosiers so a fifth could come flying in to give him a headshot. And he came out of that just mad.
The great backs don't "see" holes; they intuitively feel them opening, the same way Gretzky could feel when his winger was coming open. Smith just doesn't have that. Whatever words we use to say it, it means the same thing. Better I think to use honest words than dance around it. PC has its place; it's never been this site's thing to expand it to football talk.
Trust me, there's an awful lot we see that doesn't get published.
|5 days 7 hours ago||Different kind of player||
Different kind of player entirely. It's hard to find a good comparison for Michigan because we haven't had that many tall, top-heavy 5-tech types who were that athletic (if you say Pat Massey I'll shoot you down). We've had big dudes, but they're usually in the mold of Wormley or RVB with a low center of gravity.
Closest comparison on this team is you could say Matt Godin is a very poor man's Nassib. Good burst, very hard to block when he shoots a gap, holds up well to TEs and OTs, but because he plays so high you don't want him going against guards and centers that much.
The other comparison is if you supersized Jake Ryan. Actually let's go with that: a 6'7/300 lb Jake Ryan is exactly what Nassib is.
|5 days 8 hours ago||He didn't have time to get to||
He didn't have time to get to all of them. For the record they were what's PSU's favorite coverage, are they going to stunt a ton with the DL, and how are you at stretch zone running?
|1 week 43 min ago||He made it clear he intends||
He made it clear he intends to graduate from Michigan. So granted he doesn't win the job (he won't but being fair) I think he'll be around next year at least. I would guess he would stay on for 2016, when he's a redshirt junior, get his degree, then go wherever he pleases as a grad transfer.
|1 week 1 hour ago||Also we took our Wolverines||
Also we took our Wolverines later than it seems, when it was time to reach into a pile of guys who do a thing well. We probably overrated Dawkins (Valentine and Shields are the only wings taken after him) and Irvin, though we've seen Irvin take the team on his shoulders late last year. As for the rest Spike is justifiable in the last round, and so is Ricky Doyle as the 8th center taken. Walton was the 4th PG to go. LeVert went 2nd overall but a lot of drafts might have had him go first.
|1 week 1 hour ago||Agreed. I was too caught up||
Agreed. I was too caught up in not wanting to have to root for Valentine and Trimble as they hogged all year. No idea how one of them fell all the way back to Ace but blah.
|1 week 2 hours ago||I've maintained since Hill||
I've maintained since Hill went out this year that if he does play college ball ever again I think it'll be Michigan, but the chances are not that likely that he plays college ball again. If his health wasn't a huge question, he'd be in the NFL draft.
If he comes he's the presumptive starter.

I think that game would be a 92% Michigan win. So there's a chance. Also I had selfish reasons for that pick since I have some friends who graduated from W&M (the trip where I took that picture was one of their weddings).

Not really since Brian's the only guy who can do that. I don't know Drupal at all. And these don't take much time to write--they're more something to do with all the scouting we're doing pre-season so we can properly cover the team.
