The roll doesn't end. I had to take a QB because the rules, but keep in mind that these guys all still have to pick guys who will be on the field when all these other players are.
So at the end of the day if one guy has Indiana's offense if Indiana got first dibs on their entire offensive line from anyone in the conference, and zero holes, and everyone else has at least two holes...
Still. Damn you Roberson.

If you pledged over $50 you get a free t-shirt plus a bunch of other stuff. You should have received an email by now with a link taking you to a side page of the MGoStore where you can pick which shirt and which size and tell us where to send it.

Hang in there. We're updating the pages at UGP (the MGoStore page we sent you to). If you chose the international option on the kickstarter then you've already paid intl shipping and we'll make sure you'll get your copy--you may have to go back to the MGoStore. If you're international and you pretended to be American we will hunt you down and destroy you.

Live with the fact that you can't change everything, and lend your voice when someone tries to fix something. The world gets better by inches, and most people are just doing what they think they're supposed to, not trying to damage people. Cut cable if you think you can do it. Vote, I guess, but this is one of those rare both parties are equally corrupted sorts of things.

Ken Holland is way ahead of you on that moneyball tactic. The Red Wings shifted to college players (mostly) in their drafts after Bettman passed the "Red Wing Rules" they were using to develop players overseas.
The Red Wings try to maximize how long they can hold onto an asset.

"Being offensive" is such watered down phrasing. It carries a suggestion that the person being offended should have a little control over their (over-)sensitivity.
So let's change "offensive" to "being an asshole" and "politically correct" to "not being an asshole." The reason to change the moniker of the Washington NFL team is because it's being an asshole.
The debate over sports teams named for Native Americans, either as groups or tribes or labels, is probably one of the shallowest debates out there. There's nothing past the surface: the teams were called a thing long enough to become a tradition to those fans because for years and years nobody gave a damn if we were being assholes to Native Americans. Our governments spent the 19th century paying people to kill Native Americans; just acting like a complete and total asshole to them by the late 20th century was a huge step up.
Finally, thanks to the Civil Rights movement, society started giving a damn about whether we were being assholes to some of our people in public spaces, and since then it's been a big hassle to pull down longstanding traditions of being assholes.
I've got a good friend--really smart guy--who's a HUGE 'skins fan. I asked him to frame the debate, since I don't have a stake personally, and just plain didn't understand the other side (I am politically anti-being an asshole, and Lions and Tigers and Wolverines are content with endangerment protections and Red Wings aren't even things, unless they're clay jugs). He said the problem with changing the name is it feels, to them, like an invasion. The analogy he used was what if somebody came to you and said your daughter's name means "person who lynches." He fully understands that it's offensive--he can't argue it at least--but it's REALLY annoying when people who aren't the child's father are coming up to him and making him feel bad for it. Maybe he will change it--people need to back off and realize he wasn't trying to offend anyone.
There's plenty of holes you can pick in his analogy, but at least it's a better argument to debate against than "Irish don't care!"
As to that, if you made a softball team called the Smelly Bloggers, I wouldn't be offended, even though I am a blogger and might resent the implication that I am smellier than the average person, because I am not easy to offend and relatively well groomed. BUT it's still being an asshole to bloggers, and by using that term you should be reasonably sure that you'll be being an asshole and will offend some bloggers. Ultimately you shouldn't be doing things that are assholey.

It's offseason and the trolls have been pretty well behaved lately. I'm leaning toward having some of these discussions. We've got one of the most intelligent collection of sports fans this side of Grantland. I felt bad that I nixed the Sam discussion before. Maybe it's time we start trusting the intelligence of the readership to frame debates that affect sports.

|2 weeks 3 days ago||er....well...yes?Maybe a||
Maybe a better explanation is in order: his article in HTTV is about how the wants of the administrators (more money), the players (fairness), and fans (all this stuff) is putting too much strain on college football, and then suggests a way to compromise and save the sport for everybody. The part where he was outlining what the fans want was getting HUGE. So he siphoned much of that section into an article on his blog that he references in the article. Like an idiot I turned down the opportunity to have it published on MGoBlog (cause I didn't want to take away from HTTV) and SI jumped on it.
So the HTTV article is still pretty fresh, though you'll recognize parts from this article and from Fourth and Long, and from Three and Out, and from where he references MGoBlog, because all of those things are part of the big story.

|2 weeks 4 days ago||Nowadays the Big Ten||
Nowadays the Big Ten schedules like the SEC. Also the point I was arguing was about whether the SEC was historically better, just more ignored. Their scheduling practices back then aren't taken into account by SRS, which rates SOS by the SRS of opponents. SEC teams effectively got the same credit for beating a 7-5 Sun Belt team as Michigan got for beating a 7-5 Big Ten team because Big Ten teams didn't have MAC opponents to draw an equal number of MAC wins into their equations.
Nowadays the Big Ten is worse than the SEC. That's been discussed so much that there's little point to discussing it further, so the intrepid SEC fans looking for ways to expand the concept of SEC dominance to every aspect of daily life could glom onto SRS to prove they were always better.
Also, you know, this is a free blog with other content on it, so if you don't like content that discusses the past I'm not at all offended if you just don't read it.

I think it's fair to publish on SI what he put on the blog. This was stuff siphoned off from his big article in HTTV that covers all the parties to college football and what they're looking for and getting.

Sometime in the next few days pre-orders will become available on the MGoStore. We just finalized a distribution deal but they won't know what stores they'll put it in until they sell it to those stores, and they can't do that until we get it to them.
Also we're going to do the Draftstreet Deal again. Stay tuned!

Yes, I was calling out MGoReaders for being exactly the kind of nerds who have opinions on freshman TEs wearing 94.
And though that particular one doesn't bother me at all (I love weird numbers) I am totally a roster numbers nerd. It's not the numbers that give the players symbolic meaning but the players who give the numbers meaning. So it's interesting to me to see which players get what jersey because for the next half a decade at least I'll likely be associating that number with that person.

No school turns down character. Not having to worry about a kid wasting a spot in the class is a big deal even if you're Alabama.
As for turning away bad character, if a kid has bad downfield vision and lobs everything, AND he punches a security guard, it's easier to part ways.

Via a Sparty who should know, MSU did not pull his offer, but they've been kind of cooly not saying much to him for a few months now. I think State feels comfortable with the quarterbacks they have and are bringing in. The main attraction with Campbell is he's the quarterback of a Michigan pipeline, but if you want to crack Cass Tech Jayru really isn't the guy to do it with. Damon Webb was.
