About the refs.....maybe you should not place so much faith in your belief that they are incompetent and that they are corrupt. What did Tim D. say? What did you see with your own eyes? And you still don't believe.......
How do you think they get assingments at a grand per game plus tavel/per diem pay? They can make 150-200k in 6-7 months of work.
For most this is their primary source of income.
refs work everywhere, but 2 of the 3 refs worked in the big east as their #1 conference (coincidentally).
If you don't play ball, you don't get the call (to work games). Got it?
Ain't much work out there for fat slobs over 50, except maybe at Wal -Mart as greeters. And I believe it doesn't pay 6 figures (I may be wrong).
Maybe you shoud read up on the pac 10 ref scandal happening now (among others). And read what the refs who are too afraid to go "on the record" say.
If you went to U of M, I trust you have some spare cerebral capacity to use. Use it.

Word is now Aubrunites paid a bunch of players, and covered for them academically during their championship run to make them eligible
Don't suppose the championship will get taken back, will it?
If you ain't cheatin'.....you ain't winnin'.
Don't worry about Urban down south. Since he's from the SEC, he already has skeletons in OSU' closet. When will they come out?
|3 years 40 weeks ago||You cn forget Michigan Winning anything because we don't cheat||
Michigan is the only school on earth that has academics and all those sports ranked so high on the list. NOwhere else does this exist. NOWHERE. I was so lucky to be a fan and go to this school
That being said, you can't fight the refs. And yes kids, the refs stole monday night's game. The more you learn about the refs, the more you realize how corrupt and egotistical they are. They are in it for themselves. The game is second. They are not professionals. They are contractors, who basically have to "go along to get along". If you don't believe me, read what's happening out in the Pac 10 as we speak, and how refs were afraid to go on record about corruption due to losing future games to officiate (and $$).
Until the NCAA goes pro and hires refs full time, don't count on winning much in BB. And until the SEC stops the illegal "gray shirting", payoffs (looks like Auburn may lose their 2011 title---looks like they paid players to stay and gave them fraudulent grades). And the other charades of the SEC, you can forget football too.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||Dude, if you are grading||
if you are grading officials, and find what happened on monday night even remotely acceptable for that elite-level......I now realize why refs suck. They aren't held to any semblance of professional standards.
If you would, explain to me how Hancock didn't get his 4th foul after two officials conferenced about it. Foul was clear as day. But they gave it to a kid 10 feet away who had no bearing on the game. Announcers said so. No replay was even needed. For any of their most egregious mistakes, no replay was needed. That 4th foul would have iced L-ville. And MI would have won.
Pray tell.......what do you think happened during that "conversation"? I'll bet you a week's pay that it was done to keep the potential MVP in the game.
If you dare.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||The fix was in. You don't||
The fix was in.
You don't have to go any further than non-call on Hancock for his 4th foul, when they HAD A CONFERENCE (which is supposed to get the call CORRECT), and then awarded the foul to some kid 10 feet way. And the annoncers all asking "how do you call that?".
The answer is simple. The refs are Big East and have to live in that conference. This is their living. And they are corrupt (as you saw with NO PAC-10 refs in the finals due to recent scandal).
Rock the boat....and it's back to pushing broom instead of reffing.
Play ball....and make 150-200k per year for an easy job.
There is no logical excuse for what we saw on Monday. Except for the fix was in.
You won't hear any excuses from the NCAA or the refs. None. They don't care. They make money. And you just watch and spend.
|3 years 40 weeks ago||I'm still pissed, but getting||
I'm still pissed, but getting over it. So what I did was look at other news sources to see if what I saw during that game was just me or did everyone else see it. Most believe the officiating was beyond garbage. Phil Jackson (one of my heros) did. Bad calls are a part of every game. Several bad calls are not. Certainly not at this level, where the "best" refs get to work it.
But I disagree about it being "garbage". Garbage would mean incompetent or sloppy. This game wasn't.
It appears fixed.
2 of the 3 refs were mainly big east. No pac 10 refs becuase all of their refs are ineligible (for possibly being biased against a certain coach, as you may know from the curiously media-silent "bounty" scandal). Read about that scandal. It will open your eyes big time. So for all you naive kids that think refs are just human and doing their best, think again. Many are arrogant, egotistical scum that (as professionals) are supposed to check their emotional baggage at the door. If they can't do that, they can't be a ref. Go back to being a greeter at Wal-Mart. Others are there to take their place. These guys can make almost $200k per year if they hustle. They don't work for free.
Lots of thinking about the calls of that game. Only one matters. The 4th Hancock foul (that went to some other kid 10 feet away). 2 officials conferencing. One can only assume that the correct call (foul on Hancock) was overrulled by a big east ref, to keep the big guy in the game. Could you imagine if he had to sit the second half? He would have, since he would have no defensive capability at all with 4 fouls. that would have probably sealed L-ville's fate.
Remember, 2/3rds of these refs have to work the Big East conference next year. Means...motive....opportunity.
But you think it's was bounces, chance, luck, or "idiots" officiaiting. These guys are not idiots. They are dishonest.
Michigan was not blown out. 3 points seperated them at the 5-minute mark. Outrageously bad calls kept them out. Kansas was tougher to beat than L-ville. But the refs apparently showed man-love to their boy Patino. And now you see Adidas running ads about Ware ($$$$). That didn't take long now, did it?
I only take solace in knowing that many others believe that as well. And that eventually, even these scumbags (who masquarade as refs) have to live with guilty consciences. They know. I know. Some of you know. The good o' boys club is alive and well. Ask the Pac 10. And the SEC (who fired their head of enforcement recently for misconduct).
Now as for me, it's back to work and not watching any more college basketball. Ever. Not until they get professional (use full time refs that are not conference specific) and start sanctioning these guys like the pros do. The NBA was a laughing stock until they got serious. It's still not perfect, but a long way from what it was. Same for the NFL and NHL.
This isn't a game. That's what you play in your backyard. This is a business. You pay money to attend, buy jerseys, etc. Coaches and everyone esle gets paid (except players). Huge. The entire country goes nuts in March for a month. Think about the money involved. And then think about what you saw with your own eyes. And wake the hell up.
Just like the NBA used to be: it's fixed. Deal with it. Now pick other sports to watch.
