I would argue the balance…

I would argue the balance part is significantly more important than the staggered stance. I’ve had/seen shooting coaches teach the staggered stance. Last one I saw basically said it doesn’t matter as  you don’t have heel-toe separation meaning in CH’s case the right heel isn’t in front of the left toe. Some shooters find the staggered stance more comfortable. I think some of it may have to do with sighting and if you’re dominant eye is opposite your shooting hand (My hypothesis based on my own experience, no data there).

I think you’re spot on with the motion though, his taller and lankey build makes it harder to center himself before going up. It’s probably more of a lateral agility weakness than shooting mechanics. His height and length have most likely been enough so far in his career.

I would have to look at the…

I would have to look at the replay but it could be them limiting Thomas as he works his way back into shape. What he had takes a while to recover from and the coaching staff may rather have him full go for limited snaps and work his number of snaps up as he gets back in shape. I don’t recall many (if any) instances where Woods came in and the Thomas was the second CB. It seemed to mostly be a Gray/Woods/Hawkins/Hudson/Hill secondary when they did that.

Been going to MIS for years,…

Been going to MIS for years, usually camping outside Turn 4 in June, and on the infield in August. The infield at a NASCAR event is some of the best people watching on the planet. Anyway, for tips, some of this has already been said, but I'll reiterate the good advice.

- Yes, you can bring coolers in, they need to be soft sided, the size limit is pretty generous, make sure to hydrate and wear sunscreen don't underestimate how much the complete absence of trees and all the concrete can do to absolutely scorch you.

- Traffic got a fair amount better about 5-6 years ago as they started making the roads leaving the track one way outbound after the race. That said, plan a little bit of post race tailgating time to let traffic clear.

- Rent a scanner from the racing electronics stand. Pick a driver to root for and follow them. Brad Keselowski in the number 2 is a good pick for Michigan fans. I can't say enough about this as it takes the experience from watching a bunch of cars going in a circle to an actual, well...sport, you know with rooting interests and stuff.

- If you're in row 8 that is REALLY low, I can't stress ear plugs enough if you won't be wearing scanner headphones, even with them it is going to be LOUD.

- In row 8, don't wear white. You won't feel them all the time but you will be getting hit with little bits of rubber coming off the tires and your white shirt will be grey light grey by the end of the race.

- Pre-race pagentry is pretty cool, make sure you get there in time to watch.

Wife and I met at a game our freshman year at UM. Watching college football (not just UM) is a religion in our house. We have season tickets and usually watch the night games as well. Our fights are over who has to tend the kids because we both want to watch whatever game is on.

Adding to the data pool...

Can not believe Field of Dreams hasn't made the list yet.

"Don't we need a catcher?"

"Not if you get it near the plate, we don't."

"Well, you know I... I never got to bat in the major leagues. I would have liked to have had that chance. Just once. To stare down a big league pitcher. To stare him down, and just as he goes into his windup, wink. Make him think you know something he doesn't. That's what I wish for. Chance to squint at a sky so blue that it hurts your eyes just to look at it. To feel the tingling in your arm as you connect with the ball. To run the bases - stretch a double into a triple, and flop face-first into third, wrap your arms around the bag. That's my wish, Ray Kinsella. That's my wish. And is there enough magic out there in the moonlight to make this dream come true?"

"Hey Dad, wanna have a catch?"

And a bonus from another favorite, the Hunt for Red October:

Jeffrey Pelt: Mr. Ambassador, you have nearly a hundred naval vessels operating in the North Atlantic right now. Your aircraft has dropped enough sonar buoys so that a man could walk from Greenland to Iceland to Scotland without getting his feet wet. Now, shall we dispense with the bull?

Ambassador Lysenko: You make your point as delicately as ever, Mr. Pelt

GameDay Campus Location

I don't have enough points to start a new thread, and I've seen this question numerous times so I will post here...

My wife works in LSA and knowing that Ingalls Mall (where the last 2 have been held) is under construction, she has been trying to find out where it is from her various contacts at the University. Finally, she called Media Relations at the Athletic Department about 5 minutes ago and was told:

"Not 100% sure yet, but there will be a press release later today on the topic."

Mods please do as you see fit to get the information around.

"We head back to precedents

"We head back to precedents in an attempt to communicate how something feels. It is possible we're not going quite far enough back for this one."

The thoughts had creeped into my head, and I didn't want to say it, but since Brian just went there...

This looks like it could be on par with that unit, not a single damn weakness around some strengths better than others and Jabril is not CW yet, but man I can't think of a better comparison as a whole for the defense.

My wife was between 15-27.5 weeks pregnant with twins

All last season. We are season ticket holders and she didn't miss a game. The university didn't necessarily have any special accomodations, things we did:

- Make sure she stays hydrated, lots of water

- Pack your patience, there will be frequent bathroom stops.

- Later in the season there was one game we parked a little closer just to help her out

- As a courtesy, warn the people in your row, it doesn't completely take away the annoyance but it helps to tell them in advance that you're considerate of them but can't help it. Most people will smile say congratulations and work with you.

- If you tailgate with others, let the pregnancy diet restrictions be known so there is something there for her to eat, if not make sure you bring something yourself.

My wife didn't complain much at all. She loves the team as much as I do.

30 weeks is going to be fun and pay extra attention to the water with the summer heat and 110,000+ packed in. Hope you two have a blast.

Scheduling can be a pain

So my wife and I got married October 6, 2007, the record will show that Michigan played Eastern Michigan that day and it was also the day that Mike Hart broke the career rushing record. What the record will not show is 18 months prior when I put the deposit down for the church and the hall is that was the bye week on the schedule. My wife and I selected it specifically because it was the bye week.  In those 18 months the following happened:

- The NCAA mandated 12 game schedules.

- The Eastern game was rescheduled to our wedding day.

- The arrangement that would be the Horror came into existance.

Yeah, my wife and I are season ticket holders and were forced to get married on a Game Day despite trying to avoid it. On the plus side, I will never forget as we are walking back down the aisle at the end of the ceremony my wife looking over at our friends from our section at the stadium and asking what the score was - yes, it was our wedding day, we had been married officially for under 5 minutes, and the number 1 priortiy at the time for my wife was the score of the football game.

October of this year, don't

October of this year, don't remember the exact date

You think you have everything planned and figured out and then God throws you a curveball, my wife and I were expecting our planned second child. Had made all the right changes financially, to the house, had just bought the proper vehicles for accommodating 2 car seats. Then my wife went for her first ultrasound at 19 weeks and found out it was twins. All the plans out the window, having to rethink everything, we would have 3 children under 3 years old in our house. Got back home from the ultrasound and was attempting to make dinner in a mental haze and the carbon monoxide detector starts going off. Had to have the fire department come out.

Luckily everything was fine, I am now the proud father of 3 young boys and everyone is healthy and happy, thanks to the wonderful team at Von Voigtlander Women's hospital.

I hope you don't actually

I hope you don't actually mean getting in the water. It's going to be an ice bath. That lake is never warm and it's been a cool spring up there. I'll be in Roscommon for the weekend too, getting my boat ready for the rest of summer.

Farmington

I grew up in Farmington Hills and 5-7 years ago would highly recommend it. The area is still nice but as someone else pointed out it is trending down. I have a very good friend who works in the school system there and they are running a huge deficit and may be looking at closing schools in the future.

Respectfully disagree. My

Respectfully disagree. My wife and I went to UofM, she still works there. We got a relatively nice 1500 sq ft on 1.5 acres with a creek in our back yard in Brighton for just over $200k in 2009. We love the downtown area in Brighton, there's 6 bars, nice restaurants, a lot of nice family places (mill pond), and if you are in the township the taxes are low. There's everything you could need along grand river. The OP did mention he and his wife like gardening so they may be outdoors people. More and more young families are showing up there. Unfortunately the commute to Dearborn would be 40 minutes NOT in rush hour. I work with Ford Motor Company and have done that drive a lot recently so I can speak from experience.

Actually it is relevant

It actually is relevant, they are evaluated 2 hours and 15 minutes before game time indoors, then they go right outside, and sit outside for 2:15, plus call it 1:30 for the first half. That's 3 hours and 45 minutes, long enough for the heat to transfer and the ball to near equilibrium. They measured them at half time, the average length of a profootball half is what like 15 minutes? Assuming they brought them right in when the whistle blew and measured right before leaving, that's still not a lot of time for the ball (or at least the air inside it to warm back up. So it would measure different.

+1 to the keep it classy tally

I do read this at work, my smart phone gets crappy reception at my desk so I don't use the app, I read it on my lunch break while eating at my desk, but I do work in an open office environment where there are plenty of female co workers that I have a ton of respect for and really don't feel like allienating or making feel uncomfortable.

Take a cue from Jim Hackett, who said in his opening presser that he wanted to do away with the Michigan Man meme, the number one reason of which was both men and women associate themselves with Michigan.  I would challenge anyone in a professional white-collar, co-ed working environment to put a bikini calendar up in your section of a public space and see how long before a reprimand comes.

Sweet!

Browser froze resulting the epic triple post! Guh...

Not surprised

I live in Brighton, at the times of day that Jim would be commuting, (i.e. before morning rush and after evening) it can be a 15-20 minute drive. There is some money moving into the area, some big houses being built, a few gated communities, Brighton has a small but very nice downtown. My home is modest but I have started seeing more and more signs of big wealth moving in - Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, an Audi R8 are all starting to pop up.  More buotique shops. Not to give any creedance to the rumor but I wouldn't rule it out based on the area he's looking.

<--- Same place I've been for 20 years

Cowbell in hand, lungs at the ready.

Hopefully this helps...

My wife and I did this last year and our son was 4.5 months at the time.

1.) Yes, you need a ticket. M claims it's Big Ten policy. I'm not sure if I buy that. This is the only reason my son who is now 17 months didn't go to a football game this year.

2.) Diaper bag was fine no issues they had me open the bag took one look and moved us along.

3.) we used an ergo carrier which is like a sling for getting from the lot to Crisler and walking around Crisler. I don't think they would let any kind of framed carrier through, it would need to be able to be stashed under a seat to be out of the way.

A few other points...

1.) the "investment" part is up to you. Before my son was 6 months he had been to Yost and Crisler. He didn't react much but he was kind of mesmerized by everything going on around him.

2.) Either Mom or Dad should be ready to hold him for an extended period of time. My son made it through the first period of a hockey game and the first half of a basketball game before passing out from sensory overload. Instead of risking waking him up in both cases I ended up holding him for the rest of the game.

Hopefully this helps and congrats on the new addition to your family.

That was the first game my

That was the first game my freshman year, what a way to kick off for years of football...still etched in my memory.

All of the points to you,

All of the points to you, sir.

Just got back

It was all around pretty good this year, my wife and I have been going since 04. Dana Jacobsen was the MC and she did a good job. It was the best performance I've ever seen the football team put on. Will Hagerup brought the guitar skills, Jack Kennedy added the flow and Taylor Lewan was absolutely hilarious. Oh and Denard and Roundtree were involved as well. They performed with the women's volleyball team. Track and field won on a pretty good number. Our new soccer coach also showed off his awesotoo rapping skills too. I thought the hockey team was good but not up to their usual standard of hilarity, but I don't know if anything will ever beat Milan Gajic and the team doing Riverdance for me. And the soccer team misses Cam Camerons insane dancing skills...if anyone gets the opportunity I highly recommend it. It's good for a lot of laughs and all the money goes to charity.

I have been just as whimsical

I have been just as whimsical of late thinking back to '08 Northwestern and all the progress made and how much we owe to the seniors on this years team.  I haven't seen this posted anywhere and don't have enough points to post myself but if there's ever a stat that strikes me going into this game it's this:

3-9

5-7

7-6

9-2

= 24-24

We all already know they are champions for reasons other Michigan Men can't comprehend, but Saturday they get a chance to, after all the crap, be sent off as winners.

I just happen to be doing the same thing

I have a bottle of Bo Merlot that has been sitting in my wine rack suffering neglect from the same pledge. Here's to blowing the dust off and cracking that baby open on Saturday...

In '95 I was 11 and that was when I started going and watching the games for the football rather than the novelties, and can honestly say Mercury Hayes in the corner started it for me. I've missed 5 home games since. That being said '97 PSU. That was one hell of a team and we never even let them make it a game. My dad has been going to games since 1968 and still maintains that was the best he has ever seen a Michigan team play.

Reporter: I’m told you’re not the first Michigan coach from West Virginia.

RichRod: Who told you that? Barwis?

Reporter: He tells me it was your forebearer who fielded the original Point-a-Minute teams and afterward was responsible for the building of Michigan Stadium.  I must say I do appreciate the irony of it all.

RichRod: My good sir…it does not begin or end with my forebearer or myself, we are all sons of Michigan here.  That man out there, rushing the quarterback, that’s Brandon Graham, first in the country in tackles for loss.  And that man over there, that’s Denard Robinson, he sir, one of the fastest players in the country.  The gentlemen behind me… that’s Troy Woolfolk.  His father played for the legendary coach, Bo Schembechler.  It was Bo Schembechler who said to his team “Those Who Stay Will Be Champions.”  There are boys here from San Diego… Deerfield Beach …and small towns from around Ann Arbor.  From Pahokee… Detroit… and the Huron River Valley.  Mostly all veteran soldiers now; the cowards and shirkers are long gone.  Every man here knows his duty. They would make this charge even without a coach to lead them.  They know the gravity of the situation, and the mettle of their foe.  They know that this day’s work will be desperate and deadly.   But not one of them needs to be told what is expected of him.  They’re all willing to make the supreme sacrifice…to achieve victory, here… the crowning victory…and the end of this madness.  We are all here, sir.  You may tell them, when you return to your paper… that All were In for Michigan on this day.

My experiences

Played in the group in front of Lloyd at the alumni golf course after hitting balls on the range next to him.

My girlfriend from senior year takes the cake, though. She was an RA in Stockwell, and one of her residents was one of Don Canham's granddaughters. So for Christmas that year she bought me a copy of Tradition and asked her resident if she could get it signed. She said sure, and dropped it off for her. Two days later my wife got a call and was told it was ready to be picked up. So she walks down to Schembechler Hall and eventually to Bo's longtime secretary's desk right outside his office, and is told that it's not signed yet. So the secretary, gets up knock's on his office door and tells him the lady's here and he needs to sign this book. So he says "Well have her come in here and I'll sign it." So my girlfriend walked into his office. He was sitting behind his desk, asked her if she was doing well in school, and who the lucky guy was, signed it and gave it back. Needless to say I proposed to this girl 6 months later and we've been married for the last two years!

Chills...

Just wow...

Copywrite that before it ends up in a movie, or at least mandate that Al Pacino give it...
