Scholarship or walk-on?
|5 years 5 weeks ago||Horton||
Horton was a big recruit - ESPN the Magazine had a 2-page spread on him and everything. Amaker was quoted in that feature saying something along the lines of him being the most important recruit in a long time, and a turning point (or something to that effect) for the program.
(Unfortunately I don't have a link/picture since it was so long ago)
|5 years 6 weeks ago||Don't make signs, etc||
If you do go, just remember to keep any Michigan apparel/signs/etc to a minimum. Even though you're not affiliated with the school, you don't want to give a Lane-Kiffin-at-Tennessee vibe with people showing up to high school games as some sort of recruitment tool (I take it you're not a sorrority girl like Kiffin sent, but still).
Don't do anything that might make us look like we're outside the rules of the recruiting laws, even if in reality what you're doing is benign.

It's been discussed (quite well) already.

Maybe his players were getting free cars.
|5 years 30 weeks ago||Wtf?||
You're the worst sports fan on the planet, gordie bell.
|5 years 30 weeks ago||Somebody please delete this thread.||
We survived one more inning despite gordie bell's best efforts. can we wipe this out and never speak of this again?

Mods please delete this thread immediately. You're an ass.

Check out Michigan Against the World, DP at the site made them. Try emailing him.

Pryor making the list says more about OSU than it does about Pryor.
|6 years 1 week ago||Bone Marrow||
Remember - you can donate Bone Marrow, too! It's easy and involves sitting in a chair for a couple of hours. Guys like Phil Brabbs depend on people who join the registry and donate. If you join the registry you get a cheek swab and you'll only be called if there is a match. Check out the URL below for more info:

Maybe this helps with Kris Frost?
|6 years 12 weeks ago||Should have been out||
I'm a resident and I deal with this sort of thing a lot, if it was not a concussion it was still borderline/severe enough to warrant him sitting out. I wrote a piece on the blog I contribute to if you want more information, but there seems to be good discussion here already.
(not to link to an outside blog for hits or anything, ignore it if you don't care)
|6 years 13 weeks ago||More confident, probably||
Purdue's defense was just slower than ours. Plus, our defense should be well-equipped to handle their rushes and fakes from playing against RR's read option in practice. This game is no gimme, but I am a bit more confident after watching this. Good post.
Freakbass, wow. Amazing.
|6 years 14 weeks ago||2010!||
(Sorry to nitpick, but the title confused me since I thought you had a TV schedule from the super-far future)
EDIT: Title has since been corrected, good stuff.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||Not douchey||
Just ineffective. But I doubt it would hurt.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||Email?||
It's probably futile (and if already discussed on here I apologize), but does anyone know if David Brandon has an email address that the public can use to send respectful but strongly worded messages about moving The Game? I can't seem to find it if it exists. I have sent Madej an email already.
|6 years 15 weeks ago||Should be in the physical||
A basic eye exam is usually involved in any athlete's physical, and concerns for vision problems should warrant a referral for a complete eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist (I'm a resident at UofM and have done pre-screening physicals, but no, not for UofM's athletes).

Thanks for the info.
|6 years 40 weeks ago||Unsure, but:||
They are usually open on St. Pat's day, and sometimes they close for a little while after that until it is consistently warmer. I don't know if they have an annual start day.
|6 years 42 weeks ago||Totally agree. I would love||
Totally agree. I would love to see him wear number one. It would be a great way to bring that number back.
|6 years 43 weeks ago||Loved it.||
It was my favorite bar back when it was at the old spot and I lived at South Forest and South U. I love how it kept the metal bikes as decoration from the building's days as "Bicycle Jim's." It will be missed.
(But yeah, the new incarnation sucked).
|6 years 43 weeks ago||No question||
I took Comp Lit 240, and you got to pick your own grade (!!) Seriously, I showed up to the first class and like none others, and got a 4.0. I know people who didn't write any papers and still got the 4.0. Ridiculous.
|6 years 44 weeks ago||Hankins||
In that survey of the top-10 recruits from the state, Hankins was asked if OSU bashed Michigan in his visit. I don't have the link, but he said that they didn't say anything negative, but they did show him the clock that has the last time we beat them. All in all, that is pretty mild.
It's gotta be Dantonio.
|6 years 44 weeks ago||The Zook||
I hope history changes course, but I don't see how any Wolverine fan can consider the Illinois game an automatic win.
That said, if RR is ever gonna get things turned around, things like beating Ron Zook should be at the top of the to-do list. Hopefully he does.
|6 years 45 weeks ago||Well...||
I'll agree that Craig James is probably a scumbag, but not for this particular part of the story. I mean, if your son told you that he had to stand in a utility closet for hours after getting a concussion, what other recourse is there? It may seem drastic, but I bet a lot of parents in that situation would at least consider litigation.
Now, what went on with Adam James and the rest of the involvement with his dad and TT I don't know. This just seems like something a lot of people would do - threaten to sue when their son was allegedly being abused/mistreated.
Also, ESPN might not have known about this piece of the story, since it was just released yesterday. But, yeah, ESPN still sucks.
|6 years 45 weeks ago||Mesko||
Even though he is the greatest punter in the universe, there's a very good chance Zoltan is not drafted. In 2009 two punters were taken, which was high. 2008 had only one. The rest are usually invited to camps/signed as free agents.
|6 years 46 weeks ago||Wow.||
This fan fiction crap is just the sort of thing to be taken to a blog for another team and used as fodder.
|6 years 46 weeks ago||Likely||
Well, his death is probably cardiac in nature, but not related to clogged arteries, etc. More of a structural defect he was born with. If, that is, he had the enlarged heart ESPN is saying he did.
|6 years 46 weeks ago||Possible cause||
Often times in young athletes (and more common in African American/black people than other races/ethnicities) it's something called congenital hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, basically meaning some people are born with a heart that is either already enlarged or predisposed to grow too big, eventually failing and suddenly giving out. Though this is routinely screened for on physicals and should be diagnosed early.
Sad. He was the #4 draft pick one year if I recall correctly.
