How does an undefeated national champion drop to #4 in the ranking?
If they win and are left out of the playoffs then this process is garbage.

Not sure if the better team won today but most certainly the better coached team.
That will change!

I guess we are supposed to feel all warm and fuzzy that the football team is supporting awareness for a horrible disease.
Is it possible to find other ways? How much of the proceeds from ticket prices are going to breast cancer research?
This is a dreaded disease that has claimed many lives but this type of slacktivism makes people feel good about themselves without really doing something that will make a dramatic impact in helping the cause.
A better proposal would be to host a fund raising competition between those who don't want the players to wear pink vs those who do. Raise funds for both sides. The winner will determine the uniforms and all money goes toward breast cancer research. As an added bonus the athletic departments can match what the participants raise! Any chance of this proposal being adopted?

If his goal is to get the State of Michigan to pay 70% of tuition for in-state students again then everyone should pass.
I agree that tuition inflation in comparison to the inflation of everything else is insane. I think something needs to be done about it but the solution has to come from the University itself and not the taxpayers of Michigan. 1) Anyone who lives in state and gets a state sponsored education can easily leave the state (and many do). 2) The school knowing that the state will pick up a larger share of the tuition will raise prices further.
Tuition costs are out of hand and Michigan is close to pricing itself out of the market. Once people realize their degree is not a valid return on investment then they will apply elsewhere. This must happen!

Who cares about the percentage a graduate pays on the loan when the principle itself is $50,000 to $100,000. Sure, you can blame the student for racking up an enormous debt but please don't blame the bank for taking the risk by loaning the money and charging a subsequent interest rate.
The major problem here is the soaring costs of tuition!

I think sometimes we forget because he is a great writer but John Bacon is a glorified fan. He has insider access to the program simply because Bo gave him an opportunity to write a book.John Bacon also has a personal stake in the firing of Dave Brandon since Brandon has limited Bacon's access to the program. Brandon has the power to limit people's interaction with Michigan athletics and I seriously doubt it doesn't affect Bacon.
In regards to the Hoke hire, I think we can clearly see that it was a mistake. Brandon hired a Michigan man as opposed to a coach who could have become a Michigan man. It matters not how many platitudes you can spit out concerning Michigan football if you can't coach the team to victory. Michigan's #1 tradition is WINNING. Find the best man to lead this team to victory. Most of you are caught up on Harbaugh and rightfully so, he would definitely be a winner here. Don't let your desperation for Harbaugh lead you to believe that Michigan can't snag another winner.
The question is whether Dave Brandon has learned from his mistakes. I think Hoke is to slow to learn from his mistakes and that is why he will be gone. Dave Brandon is not. He changed the seat cushion policy when it was clear that people hated it. He changed the general admission policy when it was clear the student's hated it. He has now cut student ticket prices. I. personally, think DB will learn in regards to hiring and firing coaches. Whether he will be given the opportunity remains to be seen.
One more caveat, the posters and many of the community here were upset with student attendance and expressed the need for change. Brandon changed the policy and it was not met with opposition until it was realized that it was a disaster. People in this community can be fickle at times. We wanted to see change to encourage students to be on time then we slapped DB for making changes.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||I see it too||
But I can't help but notice it is because he never feels comfortable in the pocket and it closes so fast on him!
Play calling on 3rd and long has to improve but the offensive line cannot stop a blitz. In Hoke's tenure, I have not seen the Oline doing anywhere remotely decent against the blitz. The line hasn't even been good in other situations. Too much inconsistency is going to impact your QB.
|9 weeks 1 day ago||Good Post||
DG's decent is caused by the decent of the offensive line more than anything. Look at any team, it doesn't matter how good the QB is if no one blocks for him.
Glad we replaced the offensive coordinator but at this point the obvious person who should have been fired was Funk.
|11 weeks 5 days ago||Problem||
Its not our son playing football for Michigan. We are fans of a football program. I think this poster is dead on! A lot of this outrage is trumped up mainly because fans were already upset about the season. If we are 5-0, I bet fans are defending Hoke and at worse calling it a mistake.
Fine, you want the guy gone, I get that. I think he needs to be fired but let's stop pretending its because of keeping Shane Morris in the game. If you want Hoke gone because of the failed results then say so. We shouldn't be using a football player to rally sympathy to a cause.
|11 weeks 5 days ago||Three issues with Hoke||
I think the Morris incident was a mistake and no one with reason judgement thinks Hoke would jeopardize the health of his players to save his skin.
There are two issues with Hoke that has caused his downfall.
1) Stubbornness - He is slow to correct mistakes. Anyone could see that Morris wasn't improving the offense by the end of the first half. Why not put back your fifth year experienced starter to see if he can do anything? I understand why Hoke started Shane Morris, I don't get why he didn't pull him when it was evident that improvement wasn't taking place. Hoke's stubbornness has also showed on areas such as punting and tempo.
2) Loyalty - Usually this is a wonderful trait to have but not so much in college football. Doesn't matter if a coach has been your friend or went to different locations, you need to find the best candidates to coach this team. Borges shouldn't have come from SDSU. Doug Nussmeier was worth taking a chance on but why not let him bring his own staff to run the offense? Darrell Funk should have already been fired and keeping him around has cost Michigan. Funk is still coaching because of the loyalty of Hoke. On the flip side, Nussmeier was allowed to walk by Nick Saban. Saban clearly knows how to win at football.

I want to care about this season but I am having to fight to care.
I never want to experience that with Michigan football.
|11 weeks 6 days ago||Could have recovered that||
Could have recovered that punt fumble if we were in the spread punt formation. Teams are gifting us turnovers and we aren't able to take advantage of it.
|12 weeks 1 day ago||Decided to watch||
Decided to watch and one of the first comments from the game is that John Navarre had not won on the road against a ranked opponent. It would appear that our road woahs have existed for over a decade now :(
|12 weeks 3 days ago||I was saying that I don't||
I was saying that I don't think Jim comes because I remember reading that his wife likes the bay area. However, if that is not the case and there is actually a choice between the two Harbaughs then I would prefer Jim coach Michigan.
|12 weeks 4 days ago||Comments section of the article||
Interesting, Gregg Henson stated in the comments section that both Harbaughs want to come to Michigan, they just were never offered. I doubt that is right. I think Jim's wife likes the bay area and wants to stay in California. If it is right then we need Jim ASAP and I hope we get him.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||When has the Heisman pose||
When has the Heisman pose ever been a penalty? If anything I hope that woke the Michigan players up!
|12 weeks 6 days ago||Maybe||
But if that is the case then you need to have the guts as a coach to sit him.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||Why do I get the feeling that||
Why do I get the feeling that penalties will be the blame but not the two wasted downs?
Wasted two long catches by Funchess.
|12 weeks 6 days ago||Stream Link||
Front Page Sports is bugging out for me for some reason. Anyone have a stream link?
|13 weeks 6 days ago||Stopped watching||
I stopped watching after the second turnover not that I don't believe Michigan won't win but at this point what does it matter? Struggling at home versus a Mac team does not bode well for the rest of the season.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||It is still an awesome job||
You get paid to write about a game! But yeah having to watch your favorite team endure a 31-0 beatdown sucks.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||I feel for Jake Butt||
I am glad he is protecting his coach and demonstrates that Brady Hoke has not lost his football team. The problem from a fan stand point is there has been nothing during Brady Hoke's tenure that has "wowed" the fans. Not one game that we can put a finger on and say "That victory came from an outstanding coaching performance." When that happens in year four of your coaching job at Michigan then you are in deep trouble.
Thankfully for Brady Hoke he has two more shots and apparently a still unified locker room. If we get blown out at East Lansing and then lose to OSU then the opportunities to wow the fan base has ended and Hoke will be gone. We all know Hoke isn't going to be fired mid-season, so we should just see what happens with the MSU game.
|14 weeks 4 days ago||Echoing the Michigan Man`||
A Michigan Man is not someone who previously coached Michigan. It is someone who loves, cherishes, and respects the Michigan tradition. The schools two greatest coaches came from West Virginia and Ohio!
I love Brady Hoke and really do want him to succeed but success at Michigan is lofty. You cannot continue to set negative standards (first time shutout since 1984) and expect to keep a position you love just because you love the school.
I am not in favor of firing Hoke midseason and I don't think that will be done but if he loses to OSU and MSU again, he needs to go. The school really needs to do whatever if can to get Jim Harbaugh here and keep him here. In retrospect, he should have been our coach in 2008.

Why even try to make up ground when you give a five yard cushion at the one yard line?
