I was an RA in West Quad last year. I would see him around all the time. He was the coolest, down to earth guy, and super respectful. A little different from another resident on my floor I had a year earlier by the name of Tate (who I think has matured a little bit since then hopefully)
It;s just cool to see former residents of mine playing on TV, like Vince Smith, Terrence Robinson and JT Floyd. Even James Rogers was my next door neighbor my sophmore year. Kinda surreal.
most fb players live in wq. I was in 3rd Rumsey. The reason Tate doesnt have to live in the dorms again is because he was somewhat boisterous and played loud music a lot. He never did anything too serious but he was enough of a headache to warrant an off campus living situation.
I hope his loudness translates well onto the football field haha. he would always call me nedorino real loud. (My name is Ned)
and this ordeal was quite troublesome and frustrating when it happened, if not frightening. but reading this possible connection has peaked my interest, whether its true or not...kinda like watching a suspense thriller movie.
I was his RA this year, and his roomate was t-rob, both were very mild mannered, at least in the dorms. Tate was actually more boisterous.
Vince seemed like a nice, quiet guy. I've also seen Odoms on rounds in West Quad, and he never seemed to act a fool either.
As for Will Campbell, I think he just kinda likes to say provocative things for his amusement, he always hung out with guys on my floor (he lived on the floor above us). He's a character too. It's a funny thing to see a 300 lb mammoth walk around with one of those kiddie TMNT backpacks lol.
I would say popular, considering from what I've seen most of the messages on fbook and twitter say something along the lines of 'R.I.P MJ', and not 'that crazy singer is dead'
People recognize his impact on music and pop culture, and his timeless songs. I for one was deeply saddened that he died at a time when he was going through stress of people talking badly about him, trying to get his money, etc..
But now he's dead, everyone's gonna change their tune and start paying their respects. Kinda weird how death does that.
I was his RA in WQ and was somewhat curious to see our QB not much bigger than, me a lowly 5'6 at 150 lbs.
Tate was quite the resident athlete to handle haha.
