It's an open secret that he…

It's an open secret that he doesn't actually do anything engineering related at SpaceX or Tesla. He basically does marketing/PR and recruiting and capital allocation and, to his credit, he does those things very well. But engineering or literal rocket science? No, he doesn't do anything close to that.

It depends if JJ, Colson and…

It depends if JJ, Colson and Moore leave.  If they do, I see 12 automatic draft picks:

McCarthy, Corum, Edwards, Wilson, Johnson, Henderson, Zinter, Keegan, Jenkins, Colson, Sainristil, Moore.

McCarthy, Edwards, Zinter, Jenkins and Moore would all possibly be top 60 picks.

We are a lock no matter what.

We are a lock no matter what.

True, but that is still most…

True, but that is still most people.  IDK, I've learned to just suck it up and accept it and not make a big fuss and I'd guess that is what the players do.  "In God we Trust" is on our currency even.  It is everywhere in society.

I do think the prayer right after the OSU game looked bad, though.  That was right after all of the team was together and jumping and down and celebrating and then immediately after that, Harbaugh called for a quick prayer.  There was no choice but for a non-believer to partake in that, so he basically forced it on everyone. My guess would be the non believers just don't say any of the words- that's what I do when my family at holidays says grace before their meals.

I wouldn’t conflate McCarthy…

I wouldn’t conflate McCarthy meditating or giving to charity as the same as being religious.

Most people are religious, so I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. Although the team prayer right after the OSU win looked kind of forced, but the non believers just kind of put up with it probably. You just kind of learn you have to do that a lot in society if you are an atheist or agnostic.

We want OSU to have 2 losses…

We want OSU to have 2 losses heading into our game so we clinch a Big Ten title game appearance no matter what and have a clear path to the CFP.

We should fight against this…

We should fight strongly against this and prevent it from happening. There's pretty much no way this benefits Michigan. We're guaranteed the toughest schedule and we'd probably get OSU in a title game rematch as opposed to the current situation where the title game would be pretty easy.

Wasn't the 3rd down play…

Wasn't the 3rd down play wide open? Cade just didn't throw a good pass. That should have been a TD.

I have a lot of issues with…

I have a lot of issues with the coaching and want Harbaugh fired, but that play was open. If Cade throws even a decent pass, then it is a TD.

That play was a TD and we…

That play was a TD and we hadn't been running well. Hard to fault a play call where if Cade makes even a decent throw, then it is a TD. He was incredible through 3 quarters but struggled late, unfortunately.

He's not good enough. Nick…

He's not good enough. Nick is extremely smart, though. He has several offers from the Ivy League. He'll be fine either way.

That might actually happen,…

That might actually happen, though.

Michigan has online Masters…

Michigan has online Masters degrees. Grad transfers we bring in or grad student football players could take all their classes online too. I'm sure undergrads will be able to do the same in the future too at U of M. There is a lot of things to point out the differences between U of M and OSU, but online classes is an odd one. U of M literally has multiple online degrees that they offer that players could eventually take. If its the same content and standards as an in-person class, then I don't see the issue.

I thought he'd be a better…

I thought he'd be a better recruiter, and while he has brought in some good players, I think he's been a little disappointing in that regard. With zero experience or any background to justify the hire, one would hope that he'd be a Partridge-level recruiter. But, he's not at that level or even Sherron Moore.

He's less of a concern, though, than Hamilton. Mattison has started to slip a lot too and it might not be a bad idea to nudge him out soon.

Shea didn't improve at all…

Shea didn't improve at all over the course of the season. That might have been the biggest disappointment for me on offense.

It would also be concerning if McCaffery wasn't at his level by year 3.

The OL is still not any good- better than it was last year and Warriner did a pretty good job but they still have a long way to go. I don't understand how Runyan was 1st team all big ten.

McKeon should rarely, if…

McKeon should rarely, if ever, see the field.

This should easily be a 3 WR offense on basically every snap and they should play more up tempo. The defense will be quite a bit worse next year so the offense will need to make a major step forward.

Hopefully Charbonnet is the real deal and can start from day 1. The o line still needs to take a major leap forward too.

Pep should have been fired last offseason and we are still paying for not doing that.

This was next year's defense…

This was next year's defense though, for the most part.  If anything, they'll probably be worse. Losing Winovich will be a big loss. The d line next year is going to be a big weakness.

The defense is going to be…

The defense is going to be worse next season. The offense is going to have to take a major step forward because the defense won't pose much of a threat against a quality offense.

I actually think they will…

I actually think they will take 2 QB's this cycle. Shea comes back and Peters will transfer. In 2020, that would leave only Dylan, Milton and McNamara. I think they'd bring in two freshman QB's in that scenario.

If they end up a good, top…

If they end up a good, top 25 defense then I’d take that right now.

I’d expect it to be the worst Michigan D since 2013. The D line can’t cover up weaknesses anymore and I’d be worried about the corners as well. The offense will have to carry them.

A tweak that should be made…

A tweak that should be made next year is to have only 1 TE on most snaps and 3 WR's (DPJ, Collins, Black) on the field on nearly every standard down.

This should be a top 10 offense next year in the country.

It seems like 2016 and 2017…

It seems like 2016 and 2017 were similar to the Carr years. This year’s class appears to be below that level. 2 years in a row with a slightly dissapointing class although it is an uptick from 2018. But this class wouldn’t be good long term if it’s the new normal.

Landing Keegan and Johnson would help but JH does need some better recruiters on his staff. Penn State has had better classes the past two years; let alone OSU’s big advantage.

Did someone really sell him…

Did someone really sell him on the idea that Harbuagh was leaving and that Don Brown was in the running to be a HC at Temple?

It’d be nice if he stays but…

It’d be nice if he stays but JH has proven he can hired good DC’s. Durkin’s defense in 2015 did just as well as Brown’s over his 3 year period here based on S&P.

My perhaps contrarian view is that if he leaves it wouldn’t be all that big of a deal.

Couldn’t the committee…

Couldn’t the committee leapfrog Penn State past LSU to avoid 4 SEC teams in the playoff/New Years 6?

Georgia lost so LSU’s win over them is no longer as good as it was last week and Ohio State won so that makes Penn State’s loss vs them better. There is some way they could justify it.

Metellus is frequently…

Metellus is frequently overlooked on these draft boards. I wouldn't be surprised if he contemplates leaving after this season as well.

He looks like he’s gone. He…

He looks like he’s gone. He was someone I would randomly check every few weeks to see if he was still on the roster. The odds of him ever playing always seemed very low.

I'd guess he ends up at…

I'd guess he ends up at fullback or some similar role. Looks good in that role and a good find.

I think a guy like Ben Mason who is nearly automatic on short yardage situations is undervalued a bit in recruiting rankings given how crucial those plays are from a win expectancy standpoint. It seems like a market inefficiency.

Yeah, Bama needs to win out…

Yeah, Bama needs to win out. Bama losing just once would be bad for Michigan as I assume the committee will still take Bama no matter what.

ND losing once but not twice also isn't great for U of M. Ideally, both Bama and ND just win out and I think everything will be fine. I don't think OU will have a better resume regardless. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if Texas loses a few times and makes that loss look worse.

If Gary comes back, could he…

If Gary comes back, could he play more at DT and allow Paye and Uche to still play at DE opposite Winovich?

I believe they are listed…

I believe they are listed that way because Oklahoma has a better chance of winning out because their remaining schedule is easier. It is not a prediction on who would be ranked higher if both teams won out.

But, yes, root against Oklahoma anyway.

Gary could also do this but…

Gary could also do this but he’s in a different spot. Bosa was probably going to be the # 1 pick. Gary is probably trending to a mid to late first round pick.

Outside of offensive tackle,…

Outside of offensive tackle, Michigan's greatest weakness is defensive tackle.

We dropped all the way to …

We dropped all the way to #22 in S&P+ after just one game. So, yes, it was bad.

Harbaugh needs to hire an…

Harbaugh needs to hire an elite OC. That was obvious in the off-season and still is.

i imagine Hudson and mayfield will start soon but they’ll be bad too this season. Maybe the 2019 o line will finally be respectable. This o line is already toast.

The defensive tackles aren’t…

The defensive tackles aren’t any good. D line has very little depth. Safety play is still a weakness.

The D line next year could be a major problem once Gary and Winovich leave.

The o tackles being as bad…

The o tackles being as bad as they are is entirely on coaching w/ awful recruiting. It’s not encouraging that Hudson is a 2nd year player and couldn’t win a spot outright already.

No. With 9 conference games…

No. With 9 conference games and a division this difficult, it makes no sense to schedule anyone difficult out of conference.

Didn’t Michigan play MAAR on Didn’t Michigan play MAAR on Brunson a lot? It seemed like Simpson played off the ball a lot more than usual.
In a just world, he wouldn't

In a just world, he wouldn't have any say over that.

Its midnight!

Nice call on Poole.

Nice call on Poole.

It feels like he's been

It feels like he's been around forever. I can't believe he's only 57.

By what metrics is Matthews

By what metrics is Matthews an efficient offensvie weapon? We do better offensively with him off the court and his O rating is below average in conference.

Next year is a relatively

Next year is a relatively weak class with only Ed Reed and Tony Gonzalez as 1st ballot locks. They'll have a better chance next year. This year was a really strong class.

I mean, Minnesota's two

I mean, Minnesota's two guards had 48 points and Simpson was 1-8 from 3. He did have some drives to the hoop but today wasn't one of his better efforts.

He's really good.

He's really good.

Seems like Izzo and Dantonio

Seems like Izzo and Dantonio are staying.

Yeah, Texas and Georgia Tech

Yeah, Texas and Georgia Tech are way too low.

Assuming its a ranking based on research output, faculty prestige and alumni network and where alums are employed, etc. then U of M, Texas and Georgia Tech are way too low.

Seems low.
Georgia Tech
Seems low. Georgia Tech should also be a lot higher.
