don't blame Trey

You can't blame Trey for making a solid decision when he is projected to be a first round pick.  This year last time he was a 3 star to most services and has skyrocketed into a most likely first round pick.  NBA scouts are really good at what they do, and if he stays and has a similar year or two they are going to see so many more parts of his game that they can pick apart.  He is leaving at the best time for Trey Burke, obviously not the best time for the University of Michigan.

The frustration should come from Darius Morris leaving when he should not have, and it was obvious that he was not currently an NBA talent.  He had specific things that he could work on going into his junior year.  Trey does not have those things.  If you watch his game, he is as complete a point guard as there is outside of Kendall Marshall.

at Illinois

will be very tough as has been proven already.  Also, we typically don't play extremely well at NW.

Mclimans for Morgan???

You have to be joking.  That is not the answer at all.  Mclimans has made improvements and has given some good spot minutes this year.  However, he can't take Morgan's minutes.  I find myself on pins and needles every time Mclimas is in.

temperature???

You can't play a college basketball game outside in Michigan in November.  Even this year when it's been extremely warm as compared to an average November.

maize is quite different

I personally think the Maize in adidas stuff is way too bright.  If it's a maize shirt, or a white/gray/blue shirt with a lot of maize writing or piping they usually don't look good.

probably just my personal preference, but there is a definite difference.

great book, and it would be

great book, and it would be great to get a top notch kid like this that is also a highly touted recruit

lottery pick next year?

Darius basically had zero chance of being a lottery pick next year with the strength of incoming freshman and players that stayed in school.  He is going to go in the first round and would probably be the same pick next year no matter of his improvement.  It's too bad he left, but we've gotta move on.

some of what you're saying may be mildly true

but when he didn't have a breakout freshman year I think it all went to the wayside.  Don't get me wrong I think staying would have helped his game in the long run, but it had a minimal shot at helping his draft status.  This draft class is one of the weakest in a decade or more, and next year's class will be STRONG.  The HS senior class is strong, Carolina's guys will all be leaving, add in Sullinger and Buford, the Jones kid from UK.  An improved Morris is at best a second round pick in that draft.  You have to respect his decision as it is wise for him, but doesn't help Michigan.  It is for these reasons that Jones from UK should have left.

totally disagree

Indiana hasn't been in tourney for 3 years, they aren't just going to be put that high on prestige when they have been bad last 3 years.  However with all key players returning, Creek back from an injury (was scoring 17 ppg as freshmen) and the Zeller kid coming in, Indiana will surprise a lot of people especially in a Big Ten that is everyone looking up at OSU.

MSU's SOS

If I hear one more person say they are in because of their strength of schedule I'm going to go nuts.  Ignoring the Big Ten, because those games are mandatory what is their best win versus this sweet strength of schedule??  Washington??  If Washington is considered a quality enough win to put you in at 17-13 that is absolutely insane.  Strength of schedule is great, but those games must be won too.  It's not like we r in because we could have beat Cuse (neutral) or OSU, KU, or Wiscy at home.

with the new tourney format

with the new tourney format it is very possible that some if not all of the at-large teams will play in the play-in games.  Would also mean better ratings for the TV stations on Tuesday

MSU and Minn would be good enough

This is true because Minnesota is a road victory.  I agree Wisconsin obviously would be best game to have, but those other two will definitely do as we are coming out of the top-ranked conference and would still have .500 record.

ACC vs Big Ten

I don't think there is much of an argument for the ACC as a comparable conference this year.  We beat them in the challenge this year plus from top to bottom we have much more solid teams and even our top teams are better than their top teams.  Duke is the only team out of the conference that over the whole course of the year has proven they would be able to win  in the Big Ten.  UNC is playing very good right now though, but still not at the level of OSU, Wiscy, and Purdue.

Hardaway is a better athlete

Hardaway is a better athlete than Harris also.  He is more of a team guy and guards his position way better now than Harris ever did.  As overall players Hardway's upside is much bigger than Harris' was, especially Manny wanted to do things his way.

The team next year will be different than 2010 simply because of Novak and Douglass being seniors and very good leaders.

take a step back

I think we all need to take a step back and see how Denard adjusts to a new offense and how the coaches adjust to exploiting his talents.  Right now both sides are happy to be working with the other.  There will be bumps and bruises I think.  I am optimistic about Denard, and love him as a leader on top of his skills.  Let's not get carried away with expectations though going into a new offense and a new team.  Let's just hope he leads our team to victory, everything else will take care of itself.

my dream D-Line

Graham, Martin, Martin, Graham

smaller schools

This often happens at lower level Division 1 schools.  I'm not saying Hoke won't do it here, but I would bet he doesn't look into it often.  The smaller schools offer these kids, with only 2, maybe 3 years to play, a chance right away.  These kids jump at this plus it's a lot easier to get in a questionable academic kid from a juco to SDSU than UM.

seriously

Admissions are admissions at any school.  They don't screw around with coaches and stuff just because.  It is pretty cut and dry even with athletes.  Rodriguez recruited the same way at West Virginia as he did at Michigan.  He and his staff took chances.  It worked at West Virginia and did not at Michigan.  It's too bad, because some of those guys could play, but that's the risk they decided they wanted to take.

Rodriguez

Rodriguez will go somewhere else and do well.  Most likely in the Big East or ACC.  You can win there from time to time with a poor defense and very good offense.  It doesn't work at Michigan, it won't work in the Big Ten, and it doesn't work in the SEC.  There's no doubt the passion Coach Rod had, and he knows his offensive football, but his downfall will always be how he couldn't let the defensive coordinator coach that side of the ball the best way they knew how.  It's a shame but it's time to move on, and wish Coach Rod the best and wish Coach Hoke the best.

GO BLUE!!!!

Morgan and Douglass

Morgan is certainly a pleasant surprise being a redshirt freshman.  I love his intensity.  Also, the improvement of Horford will be interesting to see, because all we hear is how that kid loves to work, work, work.

Secondly, Douglass' improvement should be noted.  He has maximized his minutes in probably 85 to 90 % of our games so far.  His ability to get to the rim has improved as it went from zero to being able to do it versus Big Ten guards.  This team and it's work ethic certainly lend to a lot of promise for the future.

the most likely reason for

the most likely reason for the waiting is the fact that his buyout decreases in the new year.

San Diego State and ND no joke

ND will be a good game.  Night game, rivalry game.  Have played each other tough no matter records last few years.  Last I checked San Diego State wasn't a joke either, almost beating TCU at home.

Byron Moore

Tom, what about Byron Moore, the Juco safety??

not sure about that because

not sure about that because he did suspend Robinson yesterday for a quarter for some academic issuses.  Not too many coaches who would do that and then be set back to their fourth string back from the beginning of the year against best opponent in Big Ten.

having Clay doesn't change

having Clay doesn't change them at all.  Ball and White have had just as good performances this year.  The real issue is how good their offensive line is.

plain and simple he catches

plain and simple he catches the damn ball!

# 1 Jersey

I agree he deserves it.  Would they give it to him as a junior?  For some reason I was thinking they only gave it to seniors.  Anyone know?
