Pass blocking wasn't awful, and the run blocking could best be described as "unsteady"

Here lies my greatest fear. Not that we're going to lose to ASU again. We're not. But that we win while looking just god-awful on the offensive line. Please don't let this be true....PLEASE!!!!

May I suggest you test your potential abiliities by posting the Jackonsville State promotional video over on the Spartan Tailgate board?

I'm glad you posted AC and not one of the successors to his jersey. There is only one true Number One in Michigan lore.

Maybe we should wait to see how Kenny Hill performs over the course of a few games or a season before declaring that Shane Morris deserves no grace period when he takes the QB helm (probably) for Michigan next season. If there's one thing you can say about young college quarterbacks, is they tend to be inconsistent. See Drew Henson, Chad Henne, Tate Forcier, and Devin Gardner.
Hill's performance last night was impressive, but it wouldn't shock to see him have some outings that don't go so smoothly this season. Manziel was a massive exception to the rule.

I....don't even own a clarinet.
|3 days 21 hours ago||Seconded||
The only people who still really care about this game are the haters who like to rub our nose in it, our own fanbase who still want to whine about it, and media-talking heads who like to play the first two off each to generate buzz from it.
Disagree wholeheartedly on your final point regarding the Freep. I'll never forgive that 2nd rate rag for their hatchet job against my beloved alma mater. The day I'm able to piss on the smoldering ruins of that periodical will be a happy day.

Mother of god, that looks like a scene out of "Necessary Roughness". I can just hear Hector Elizondo asking, "Who missed the assignment?", and Robert Loggia screaming back, "Everybody missed the goddamn assignment!"

I could be the Walrus, but I'd still have to bum rides off of people.
Yeah, that's not true either, I actually do own a car
I did actually sleep with Mia Sara though....
....OK, yeah, that's total bullshit also.

If it means we're playing in Indianapolis on December 6th, then yes, have some.

Making that prediction is as difficult as predicting the sun rising in the morning.
|4 days 16 hours ago||C'mon||
It's unreasonable to expect this Michigan team to win games on the road against ND, MSU, and OSU in a single season. Suggesting that should be the standard for success is just setting yourself up for disappointment and giving yourself a license to bitch (unjustifiably).
Taking 2 of 3 of that gauntlet would be a major win for us and if they take all 3, well then we're probably closing out out the regular season in Indianapolis and staring at a good shot at making the playoff.

Not yet. My daughter is only 3 and my son is just 10 months old. Still, as a season ticket holder who has grown weary of the Dave Brandon price-gouging over the past few years; the only thing that keeps me renewing each year is the thought of taking my children to their first game someday. I fondly look forward to that day.
|5 days 13 hours ago||Look, just because Michigan||
Look, just because Michigan has slid from being a program that can expect to be 9-3 year-to-year to being a program that aspires to being 9-3 doesn't mean that Lloyd Carr was a great head coach. Lloyd was a good coach and he can be credited to helping keep Michigan competitive, but does anyone believe that he squeezed the maximum potential out of every one of his teams? Lloyd won a National Championship and he deserves praise for that, but the fact that 1997 stands aa a glorious surprise as opposed to an expected culmination is something of an indictment against him.
Going into most seasons, you would look at Michigan's schedule and believe things were favorable, but you always wondered which game or two we would stub our toe on. That was the experience under Lloyd, and while he was good, he had the talent playing for him to be great and his limitations as a coach held Michigan back most seasons. Just because the program has slipped below this level of competency doesn't mean we should look to set the bar at Lloyd.
Cynics might say that to achieve anything better than 9-3 on a year-to-year basis is the best a program can expect that isn't prepared to play fast and loose with the rules in today's college football world. Maybe it's true. Still, those programs that are elite are the ones that expect to be 11-1 or 12-0 year-to-year and when they aren't, it's a surprise.
Lloyd Carr deserves a lot credit for what he did here as head coach. A Cincinnatus-like figure that reluctantly assumed the mantle of leadership at a time when the program was most vulnerable and held things together for almost a decade and a half. But that doesn't excuse him from any criticism in hindsight.

|5 days 16 hours ago||Phew...||
Why do I have the terrible feeling that the Glove will have to reissue this post next season with "seven years" being updated to "eight years"? But not because we lost to App State again, those guys are getting completely annihilated this Saturday.
As for the rest of the season, please let me be wrong...
|5 days 16 hours ago||I want to be optimistic, but||
I want to be optimistic, but I can't shake the sense that we'll be looknig back on this year in December and telling ourselves, "what if?".
I want to believe that the OL comes together, allowing our 5th year senior QB, and stable of talented RBs and WRs, to stand up against our enemies, control the line of scrimmage, manage the clock, and efficiently score points.
I want to be surprised again, in a good way, like against OSU in 1996, or PSU in 2005.
I want results to not be the foregone conclusions that they seem to have become with us, and when the predictions are wrong, they're usually wrong in a bad way, like against Toledo in 2008 or Iowa last year.
I want the swagger that we had in the past that comes from programs built around superior recruiting and tear a hole in the psyche of all the Valentis of the world who will claim that programs can make up for lack of stars by being "tougher" than others or "coaching up" their players better.
I want all these things.
I want to believe. Make me wrong about being pessimistic, guys. Make me believe again.
