Hoke was top notch at this aspect of his job.

|2 weeks 4 days ago||This is why our recruiting isn't as good as it could be||
and I'm totally okay with it. Chances are that in the next 12 months a player either transfers or goes early. But Beilein can't be sure about that so he is holding off on recruiting Towns until something opens up. Of course by the time something opens up it may be too late to get Towns or someone of similar talent. It's the price of doing things the right way.

|5 weeks 5 days ago||I think you are forgetting about Chandler Parsons||
who is currently on a max contract. He stayed all four years and was picked 38th. I don't know if the extra year or two helped but Parsons certainly thinks so. This si what he said about it:
“Learning all of these things, how hard to compete, what it takes to win, gave me an advantage over these guys that stayed only one or two years,” Parsons said. “I was mature, ready to play right away and I think that showed because I was able to contribute right away.”

that would align with what "Brain" said. If he gave the coaches his word and later changed his mind that might be a reason why the coaches would no longer accept his commitment.

So the coaches can call and text and communicate with the recruits Monday and Tuesday but can't see them in person. Sounds like they will still be recruiting to me.

I'm pretty sure the coaching staff knows several players that won't be returning next fall before. They will likely be announed before spring practice. So I'd say we have 15 slots will a chance of that going higher.

fill those six months out with what you actually did. If I ever get a resume across my desk with an extraordinary achievement like that on it they'll be the first to get an interview.

From this article my Lowe it looks like they were willing to give up Derrick Williams who is on an expiring contract. I'm sure Jason Thompson could have been traded too seeing as half the league is looking to upgrade or increase depth in the their big man rotation. Point being, the Pistons got greedy and now they are stuck with all that dead money. I'm very curious to see where Smith ends up now.
|21 weeks 5 days ago||I was totally wrong about Josh Smith, I will admit it||
I thought in a vacuum it was a great signing but wasn't sure about the fit. Josh Smith had some All-star calibur years with the Hawks and has 4 he is a defensive monster and can be a plus on the offensive side if he doesn't shoot jumpers. He's always been one of the best finishers in the league. The problem in Detroit as a 3 he had two other guys in the front court who wouldn't shoot and apparently he was also a pain in the ass to deal with. If he was on an expiring the Pistons would have got lots of offers.
Although in retrospect it was an awful signing because of the fit I still think 5-6 teams will bid on him with the Lakers, Knicks, and Kings going after him especially hard.
