I think you're right in general, but this is a donation to an educational institution, what many consider charity, as opposed to the types of deductions and adjustments you are referring to. Here, the rules are complicated because the donation is an asset as opposed to cash.

Checked Kenpom ratings for all 4 directional schools, and State is comfortably ahead of Central and Western, and 30 spots ahead of Eastern. =)

Agreed. The NFL has reveune sharing, so the average or median revenue is what everyone should be looking at.
That said, it is annual revenue, not revenue over a four year education. Nigel Hayes is getting 1/4 of what he is worth (according to this metric).
