We have a bigger and richer alumni base than basically anyone. The idea that southern schools are beating us with NIL is absolutely insane to me.
Somebody in the athletic department needs to start learning how to use NFTs and DAOs to crowd raise money for these athletes. It's infuriating that we're behind here.
You want to know what made me cry Seth? The actual moment I finally allowed myself to take it in? When late Saturday night after the game I went to go back and rereading your offense breakdown against Maryland and the last paragraph where you wrote
"If you’ve made it his far, your fandom is sincere, and I want you next to me, fist in the air, hailing our victors valiant."
You see, that Saturday morning I was not sure I was going to go the game. But I started thinking about what you wrote and how this is what we do, through all the bullshit, because it's who we are.
So I decide, at the very last moment 2 hours before the game to buy a ticket and cheer on my time once again. I had the greatest football experience of my life.
Thank you for that hope and putting that into words. It's been a long road.
"As far as development goes, Jake Rudock, Jehu Chesson, AJ Williams, Jourdan Lewis, Willie Henry, Ryan Glasgow, and Chris Wormley all took huge steps forward in year one. The number of guys to run in place was correspondingly much lower—Bolden, maybe Kalis."
dude, thats every locker room in every big game at every level. What does it mean? I means the next 30 minutes will determine how you feel about this moment in your life for the remainder of it.
This is now the second game of the season that would likely end Brady Hoke's career here if he loses. The first being App State of course.
There will be many more of these games now for this year. At this point, maybe all of them except for MSU and maybe one more loss (to someone other than OSU).
But definitive is a weird thing because I know that with a loss on this Saturday we are getting a new coach. And I don't want a new coach. I want the offense and special teams to look as good as the defense now and I want to go into 2015 with the same guys and system that we currently do instead of yet more transition costs. Its been a long seven years.
Offense, especially Shane and Braden, please get it the fuck together now. I know neither of you are returning starters from last year (minus a bowl game for one of you). I know neither of you are upper classmen. Unforunately, we are out of time and there is no margin for error anymore.
BC motions the WR to the strong side USC already has their nickelback / lb on the line so the DE can crash down
But the nickelback / lb can't get to the QB because BC's hback pulls all the way to the left and cracks him
the safety cant help because he is in cover one over the top
boom 20 yards, with only one guy missing and USC specifically bringing an extra defender down to stop this.
Its gorgeous is what it is. I hope Nuss can do some of this.
As Mattison says, the subsitutions and coverage didn't make sense given the available personnel. The entire season depends on our defense being as good as advertisted. This should be the best defense that Michigan has had since 2006.
During the Brady Hoke era our defense has rarely been the problem, especially on road games. Because we have a new offensive system, we need the defense to keep us in these early games. Its crazy to realize it like this, but if we lose Utah or Minnesota, this staff is probably on the way out. There is no margin for error anymore. There better be a plan B, C and D if guys get hurt and it better make sense.
I don't give a shit about your lack of association with the school. But I'm sorry, if you are considering making OSU your team under any circumstances, you've never been a UM fan.
If you think Michigan is going to likely lose the opener, its really hard to take the over on this. I have them winning 9 regular season games, probably the B1G, and possibly getting to 10-4 or 11-3.
Lowest expectations are set at a 9 win full season, including their crap bowl game in that scenario. A senior Denard and a rock solid secondary / LB core should be able to deliver that, even with developing lines and no jumpball hawking Junior Hemingway. Especially with a coaching staff that has done nothing but vastly exceed every rational expectation since getting on campus and players who are no longer new to the offense and defense systems.
I'm asking this question admittedly without a great knowledge of recruiting, but is it very strange that Rivals has E.J. Levenberry has the #15 recruit in the nation and espn does not have him listed in their top 150?
"I don't understand Michigan's emphasis on running to the perimeter against a defense like VT's that thrives on getting their safeties to tackle in space."
We got the right guy. Its impossible to love Michigan football and not love Brady Hoke. Here's to hoping for 15 or more years with this guy at the helm. Go Blue.
has won as many games as (and more BIG Ten games than) Northwestern and Minnesota combined, I feel like we are in for a dogfight and a risk of total implosion if we lose this game. Iowa and Illinois look legit, and OSU looks better than I thought they would at this point.
Does the defense still have big issues? Yes without a doubt.
Having said that the defense just held SDSU to 7 points on 14 (!!!) drives (13 if you do not include the end of half drive). SDSU had scored at least 21 points in its previous 17 games.
The 2010 Michigan defense does not hold SDSU to 7 points. It probably does not hold SDSU to 24 points.
I'm really interested to see how well Will Campbell does in the UFR since he seems so crucial right now to having anything that resembles an actual run defense.

Appreciate this thank you
Almost unfathomable where we were in 2020 and where we are now.
I am laughing to the point of physical pain at some of this post. Well done.
Linebacker play as Gen Z voter section was legendary.
Probably the hardest I've ever laughed at anything on this blog. BiSB is a genius.
Edit: double

thats not how it has worked for a couple years now. Players can play in up to 4 games per season and maintain their redshirt.

hi Frank. 03.15.2018.
Brian you should be paying this guy.
You might be the best sports writer on the internet and I'm not even kidding.
Bald Bull...... amazing.
So freaking good.

Ben Braden!
That kids tape is money. "Loves to Hit" gets thrown out a lot but this guy really gets after it.
Please be right, this would be huge.

eh, don't know how many WR they need this year. They might just be in better with a couple higher rated guys.
Last year a top 10 class of 25 players (for example Texas at #9) required 1 5 star player, 13 4 star players, and 12 3 star players.
Despite having to play catch up, Harbaugh is on pace to do that.
Chill the fuck out.
For how much shit was talked about him, he was a very solid QB and the last Michigan one to win the B1G
can someone please find the video.

This is my favorite play from the recent USC - BC game and its just beautiful -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7tLLvv-i3c#t=5430

I'm watching the D Line players going as hard as they can down 3 and 4 scores. I reject the idea that there was a lack of fight from teh team.
its relative, but considering everything, this is about best case scenario so far.

their NT is listed at 330 lbs. Get ready Jack Miller, we need you to win that matchup.

Ever.
compared to our recent failures with power running plays? The oline still doesn't block perfectly and instead of losing 3 yards we gain 5.
We are worse under center this year than we were last year. Stay in the shotgun AL!

I'd love it if we could take attendance and reward / punish based on it and othe factors similar to how this is going to be implemented - http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-04-20-valve-dota-2-is-free-to-pl…

Freddy J is like the Brady Hoke of recruiting, except faster and with less hyperbole.
Even Jake Long redshirted.

10 home game schedule would be tremendous. TREMENDOUS.

Its even harder to keep edge contain when you are blitzing inside and there is that pulling guard to block you. I think this is strong RPS here.
