While maybe not quite as good as "The Dark Knight", it is very close.  I was really excited for this movie and was not let down at all.

Assuming Kovacs is metric That would be 68 centiKovacs.
OMG! Hey, everyone! I just came home from work and Michigan was beating Michigan State ... in BASKETBALL! In the second half! My family is out of town and I need to exclaim this to someone!
Some of us do rely on mgoblog for info I, personally, do rely on the board to get my Michigan info from the various reporting sources. While I could check everywhere on my own, I prefer just coming here for news. If nothing else, I like reading comments on Michigan-related news without having to sift through all of the "scUM" commentaries. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I just don't understand what the big deal is with these types of posts. It was clearly labeled; if you know about it, ignore it. I'm not a frequent commenter, but it is annoying that every third thread seems to require a debate regarding its thread-worthiness. This is over and above the fact that responding to a conversation starter with "this topic is not sufficiently new to me" is rude, and ultimately is just bullying the op. I know its the internet, but stop being a dick.
I feel like I'm living in crazy-ville How can we not pursue Charlie Strong? Maybe he has an attachment to Louisville, but getting your salary doubled is getting your salary doubled. Surely one of these talented young coaches must see that and think "I'll listen."
Viable Coachign Candidate

Defensive-minded coach?  He's a defensive coordinator with several successful stops and a history of success.

Michigan ties?  He's a former DC at Michigan.

Name:  Scott Shafer.

Search?  Over.

Poor Clock Management

Is the perfect way to describe this.  I thought we had all agreed that firing Rodriguez only made sense IF Harbaugh was in hand?  Where was that "process"?  You can't "evaluate" your sitting coach in a vacuum ... external factors, such as the quality and costs associated with available replacements, have to factor into your decision.

Our choices should have been: Rodriguez or Harbaugh?  How did DB pick "c"?

i have a process for pooping ... It doesn't translate to running an athletic department. To me, a "process" implies a "plan" ... so far the process/plan seems to be "figure that part out later". If the process is to start looking for a coach today, I hope the Freep runs an expose about DB's flatulence. I'm reduced to poop and fart jokes. On a more productive note ... Jeff Tedford, bud foster, Bo's corpse.
consider the forum ... Also, I feel like any commentary on Denard from ND fans, especially commentary not including glowing praise, should be prefaced by "I know he put up over 500 yards of offense against us, but ..."
awesome +1
Belichek! I mean, he's done well at a non-Michigan and therefore inferior program, and has Michigan ties through tom Brady. Also, Obama for D-Coordinator. It's time for a change and his job sucks (being president sucks, not a political comment).
Uhh ...

The defense gave up 65 points and someone took the time to post the D-coordinator picking his nose on the sideline.  Don't over-think this ...

wrt Moeller wrt Moeller, isn't it suspicious that he's already been mentioned on mgoblog twice recently? Perhaps a "hearts and minds" pr tour by the AD? Infiltration?
If this thread is useless ... what is complaining about this thread?
Unsung hero I think Marvell Webb and Kevin Koger get my vote. They've been really good blockers in the running game, and haven't really caught too many passes. Big contributors + few opportunities to make "skill player" contributions (catching the ball, etc.) = unsung heros in my book.
interesting I wonder how those numbers change for BCS conference teams, whose schedules get more difficult as they enter conference play. It seems like the prime candidates for such improvement would be non-AQ conference teams that play a difficult out of conference schedule.
i agree I think Indiana may have done that against a pre-2007 Michigan team. Precision + above average offensive skill talent has always equaled DOOM to Michigan. Often, for far more than 35 points.
just F-em, man. F. Them.
In your scenarios ... I think I'd like to beat MSU and OSU while losing to everyone else. They appear to be two of the best teams left on our schedule, and I think that would provide some hope that we'll eventually be able to compete with the Big10's upper-echelon. Besides, f OSU man. As an aside to everyone that jumped in to criticize the OP: your "self-moderation" is really just bullying directed toward newer members. If we can't pointlessly speculate on an internet message board, then where can we? Others can keep their "useless" posts about a game played among 18 - 22 year olds to mlive when you keep your "important" ones to a private conversation ... which, by the tenor of the "self-moderation" crowd, is the desire anyways.
The hope train I'm riding Relies on the assumption that our defense is as good (or bad) as last year and that our offense is much improved. I respect your opinion that our efficiency per possession may not make things look any better. I just choose to ignore it.
one thing not accounted for I think an "efficiency" metric (points or yards per possession) is likely a better measure of comparison. I think our defense looks worse, statistically, because of all the quick scoring by our offense. I'd bet our defense's performance isn't so terrible (relative to last season) when the number of possessions are accounted for.
Because While the thought of watching my parents have sex is terrible, actually witnessing it would be so much worse. I would say our defense is the equivalent of my parents having sex. I knew it was horrible. This afternoon I walked in on it having a "tender moment". Great win, but yeesh!
Pornography

Is was the internet does best.  This rocks.

this is not factual ... While also not being inaccurate. Plus 1.
at least no one got hurt Right? Seems like a lot of Big10 teams are getting banged up.
Anyone remember how Boise State was rumored to be our opener? GLAD that didn't happen.
Let's go BLUE!!!!!!!
website suggestion ... There are some nice, available, and CLEAN girls I'm sure would love to accompany you to the game on Craigslist. Just a thought ...
Yes! I double vote for anything that can brighten this place up a bit. Brian's previewing our season with "self-refleclection" as a motif, almost suggesting that our defense haunts him with a weight too heavy to bare. The Mgopredictions are too defensively self-aware. 7-6? Those are party hours, not a fan's prediction for a Michigan football record. You wanna pour a ton of energy into accurately predicting things, try the stock market. I think RichRod finally has "the situation" he was hired to have - "Michigan" players in his system ... on offense - to make something happen with a "scrappy" defensive effort. 13 - 0, MNC win over an uninspiring Texas squad.
is saturday a maize out? Cuz I wanna wear my bitchin new jersey ... which is blue.
Thanks for posting I'm jonesing for football and love any inside info. +1 to you!
rodgers How's he looking?
I am So excited for this season to start! That is all. It's off my chest.
It happened ... During a Rose Bowl loss against, I believe, USC. My guess is it happened in the 80s (probably late 80s because I remember it), though I guess it may have been early 90s. We had won the Rose Bowl against USC the year before, I think.
not to presume, but wtf lady? It's not gonna be me, but I really hope someone investigates her posting of that. If it's as baseless as Tate's dad suggests, perhaps it was irresponsible of her to post? She is, at least nominally, a member of the media after all.
This post is the most remarkable absence of CAPS lock I've ever seen.
Wow ... Do I agree with this
I tentatively disagree

One thing that I think a lot of us are missing when trying to decide whether or not we should worry about freshmen contributors at any given position is the depth at that position.  A terrifying situation is having a freshman that needs to play somewhere because we have no depth whatsoever.  However, if we have reasonable depth at a position and a freshman ends up gaining significant minutes, that may be a function of an over-performing freshman.

I would say that our QB depth is average (is this optimistic???).  Even if Tate has been slacking off, I do think last year can serve as something of a baseline expectation for him.  Even if he doesn't improve at all, I think performances like we saw from him last year can still be expected.  Accepting this premise, if Robinson and Gardner are ahead of him, then they should be producing better results than Tate last year (someone please agree with this).

Gardner has the arm to be a deep threat, the size to take a beating, the speed to be a running threat, and has been in the program since January.  It is possible that he has advanced enough to be able to put his physical gifts to use on the field.  Not something we should bank on, but if he sees the field, it is likely due to his development rather than Bo crying.  FWIW, I think RichRod has one of the better track records when it comes to getting usage out of a physically gifted freshmen QB (Pat White).  There are a lot of things that look DOOM-licious to me about this team.  QB is not one of them.  I just touched wood to ward off any jinxes.

The bipolar nature of this board over the last two days ... May not be ideal, but I love riding the wave while we're high!
Maybe Maybe she knows something. Correct me if I'm wrong, but she is fairly connected and doesn't have a reputation for "freeping". Maybe some benefit of the doubt thrown her way?
Question for those more in the know One thing I can't help but notice is how absolutely stacked our team is in 2006. I mean, on defense alone, we have 9(!) starters that eventually made an NFL roster! How long until we're in a position where our team is that talented again? Has RichRod's recruiting put us in a position to get back there anytime soon? I can understand that this or that player is good/pretty good/very good, but overall, can we expect the talent level to return to 2006 days anytime soon?
See ...

I just don't understand why everyone wants almost every aspect of their sports to be "professional".  The letter was unprofessional.  It was also emotional and passionate, the response of a fan.  I don't tune in to sports for business news.  I don't really care how one corporation is faring with respect to another.  I care about my team and I like knowing the folks that represent and run my team also care about it, rather than having them view it as an "asset".

Personally,

if smack-talk is involved, I fully applaude.  Is it childish?  Poor sportsmanship?  Absolutely on both counts.  Is it delcious?  Very.

Holy Hell

Dan Gilbert just BLASTED  Lebron in his press release/letter to Cleveland.

Not trying to frustrate everyone

and I recognize that this is pointless speculation.  But, I thought it was something of an interesting topic.  Next time I'll be sure to do some math and include a graph or two.  That seems to be hot around here.

Also, I do think it is somewhat telling of what we can expect next year.  Our team isn't great, but our QB talent and experience is as good as we've had since sophomore Chad Henne.  That, alone, could make a nice difference.

Sorry ... I missed that ...
Safety Play Does your (or your neighbor's) first born play safety? If so, please don't eat. kthx.
You're crazy But I still love you.
Wrong Buffalo Shanahan is the new coach of the Buffalo Bills[edit: I guess this is still a rumor ... sorry]. In the NFL. DC for the Buffalo Bills would be considered by most an upgrade from DC for any college team. And, Tommy Tuberville would be sweet. Likely a pipe dream, but still.
The weather is supposed to be nice this weekend Maybe we should tell him that this is what every Michigan winter is like? Seriously, it's not that different from southern California.
