Michigan wins with defense and running game. All they need from the QB is management of the game. If they can get 2021 Cade-level performance from the position this year they can seriously contend again.
Milroe wasn’t very good in Bama’s spring game last year. Michigan very much looks like 2023 Alabama. Questionable QB and WR, okay OL, and elite defense.
Right now he is a late first, early second round pick based on production and performance. He was never quite elite in college although he did flash elite ability at times.
A QBs W/L college record is highly misleading. Mahomes record was poor. Joey Harrington’s was not.
If he stays healthy JJ is capable of having an excellent career. But capable and actually doing are two different beasts at the next level.
1. UM should pay Underwood. They have like bazillion multimillionaires.
2. Pay for a stud WR.
UM’s defensive reputation means they shouldn’t have to pay large sums for elite talent there. Same for OL and RB.
But QB and WR will require some extra incentive. Targeted pay for pay for guys like Underwood who are legitimately interested in the program makes sense.
Where are they going to play all these guys? They have three four CBs from last year and now are adding three-four more? Half of these guys are transferring.

UM badly needs depth at WR. They need to add 1-2 receivers in portal.
We don’t know what Davis Warren will be at this point.
Griese was benched his junior year. He put it all together his senior year.
Michigan will be a very talented team in 2025 as well. Younger defensively, but more mature on offense.
