|18 hours 2 min ago||I'll oblige. Too many OL and too few defensive players.||
Rudock is a heartwarming story and at that point it's a good pick. Rudock is basically Kellen Moore. A career backup which is just what the Lions needed. My hope is that he palys 5 years, gets his NFL pension, and becomes a surgeon. I see great things for him and Jehu.
The LS pick was bizarre. I like the Zettel pick. I see him as another Jared Devries. The safety in the fourth seems like a solid pick. The Lions actually did well the past two drafts selecting DB's on day three.(Lawson, Diggs) Let's see if Quinn continues that legacy.
I didn't like the Glasgow pick because I think the Lions desperately need talent at DE. They literally have one passrusher on the roster. Taylor has showed flashes, but they'll need a loy more out of him in 2016.That's nowhere near being enough in a division with Aaron Rodgers. They also need another LB. Lions failed to find help at DE and OLB two huge needs. Instead they fixated on the offensive line.
I give it a B because they did fill needs and did not reach until they took the LS. Robinson will be the star of this draft methinks.
|1 day 13 hours ago||You don't follow the NFL much do you?||
On gamedays teams only dress 6 OL. How do you not know this?
|1 day 13 hours ago||And their defense was atrocious.||
Try again, Champ.
|1 day 13 hours ago||The Pats defense was pretty damn good when they||
were winning Super Bowls. Plus, they can get away with a less-than-stellar defense because they have Brady. The Cowboys had a great OL and sucked ass.
Great OL play is far from a prerequisite to winning Super Bowls in the modern era. People obsessing over the OL forget that defenses are an essential part of winning championships. You can get by with an average OL. You can't with defense unless you have an HOFer at QB which the Lions decidely do not have.
|1 day 13 hours ago||It was his first season starting in a scheme that saw||
all the linemen struggle. Considering the Lions paucity of talent on defense this pick makes little sense.
|1 day 13 hours ago||No no, and no. Lions need a defense to win games.||
For that they need talent. They don't have much on the back 7.
|1 day 13 hours ago||People saying they need a center don't seem to realize||
that last year was Swanson's first season as a starter. It also was under a scheme that ill-suited the entire damn line. A line that actually did well under Schwartz, but mysteriously dropped off once Lombardi came to town.
In other words there isn't enough data to say that Swanson is a bench player.
Meanwhile the Lions defense has been starved for talent for years. You can't win if you don't field a respectable defense. Teryl Austin needs more than tape and glue to be successful.
|1 day 13 hours ago||You are not being rational here.||
Rational people would see how bad their defense was and how many resources the Lions have already poured into the OL and conclude that they need to address defense.
|1 day 13 hours ago||They really need to improve their defense.||
You can get solid centers in free agency.Plus, they just spent a 3rd on Swanson two years ago.
Meanwhile the defense continues to be neglected. Levy has so many years left and they don't have starters at safety, OLB, and DE.Oh and they need another WR as well.
|1 day 14 hours ago||That's six in the top 3 rounds.||
for a position group that most NFL teams carry only 6 guys on during the season.How is that NOT a special focus?
|1 day 14 hours ago||Are they not attempting that by hiring a guy||
straight from the Pats?
Anyways, more than the Pats do this. Most NFL teams don't have OL's loaded with top 3 round guys.
|1 day 14 hours ago||7 spots vs 5.||
and they have drafted more OL(6 vs 5).
It's amusing really to see people defend the Lions lunacy because they drafted a Michigan player.
|1 day 14 hours ago||Football games are won and lost on defense as well.||
The Cowboys have a great OL and went 4-12. Try again.
|1 day 14 hours ago||The Lions OL struggled because of Lombardi.||
The players who improved under Schwartz mysteriously could not block under Caldwell. Swanson was in his first season as a starter last year in a generally terrible scheme.
OT was a problem. Center more questionable. Either way the Lions defense desperately needs help at DE, LB, and S. Right now the Lions don't have a starting OLB, an strongside DE, or SS.
C could never be a priority over that. Not for a well-managed team.
|1 day 14 hours ago||And yet they didn't need to draft players to do that.||
And yet they need to get serious about fielding a defense with, you know, talent.
There are plenty of teams that find gems on the OL in the later rounds. The Pats for instance do this. In fact, many teams do. The Lions have wasted way too many draft picks on the OL the past 5 years and neglected the defense in the higher rounds save for the DL.
|1 day 14 hours ago||They really didn't need a center.||
Last year was Swanson's first season starting and he had to run Lombardi's asinine system for much of it. Glasgow is a similiar talent and the Lions had more pressing needs.
|1 day 14 hours ago||No.||
I'm happy for him, but as a Lions fan this is not a good selection. Too many other holes needing to be filled.
Plus, it's the fucking Lions. Who in their right mind would wish that on a Michigan player?
|1 day 14 hours ago||You're Matt Millen.*||
Putz extraordinaire you are.
|1 day 14 hours ago||Not a good selection. Glasgow is a good player||
but the Lions had more pressing needs at DE, LB, S, and WR.
Once again the Lions are depending on scraps to fill out their defense. What a stupid franchise.
|1 day 14 hours ago||They have been serious with their lines for 5 years now.||
This is the 6th OL drafted 3rd round or higher since 2010. (Reiff, Warford, Decker, Glasgow, Tomlinson, and Swanson)
|1 day 14 hours ago||The Lions desperately need defensive help||
and they draft a center.
|1 day 14 hours ago||Lions draft Glasgow.||
|1 day 14 hours ago||Is that a good thing?*||
|1 day 16 hours ago||Brady with Cook?||
Yeah, that'll go well.
|1 day 16 hours ago||Conner Cook is taking an elevator ride||
from the penthouse to the outhouse.
|1 day 17 hours ago||You are not going to find someone to go with Slay||
at 95th. Fuller isn't going to make the team and Jones has a lot to prove. Lions also need another DE or LB.
|1 day 17 hours ago||That's still unwise considering their other needs.||
You can't spend two high picks on OT when you have holes at DT, DE, LB, WR, and S.
|1 day 17 hours ago||They need another DE.||
Ansah is just one guy. You can find DB talent anywhere as well. Lawson and DIggs were day three guys and both played well last year.
|1 day 17 hours ago||Lions beefing up the lines.||
Smart. DT was an absolute need and they filled it. Now they need a DE, LB, S, and WR.
|1 day 17 hours ago||WR and DE are bigger needs than DB.||
Lions have little depth at WR. Lions desperately need another pass rusher at DE.
