This is a drink man right…

This is a drink man right here. As the kids say, "Go to bed."

I will not regulate.

I will not regulate.

Does anyone else cringe when…

Double post.

Does anyone else cringe when…

Does anyone else cringe when he refers to Jenny Taft as the "All American Girl"?

My understanding is that…

My understanding is that Keith Jackson likes it when that statement is a little faster though.

Did I do it right?

The mgo-version of he loves…

The mgo-version of he loves me, he loves me not?

But is that closeness…

But is that closeness statistically significant? That's the real question.

Was thinking this very thing…

Was thinking this very thing while watching the PSU v Auburn game.

Penn State looked really good. Solid defense and a very balanced offensive attack. The Clifford to Dotson connection has me concerned.

Mazi Smith. Been more than…

Mazi Smith. Been more than holding his own and the word seemed to be that he was going to struggle.

Salt, meet wound.

Salt, meet wound.

There will be a time for…

There will be a time for reacting to however this season plays out. On the eve of football renewed, however, I sure hope this fanbase can muster up the excitement this team needs and deserves to carry them into the season.

Today, it is just Go Blue.

Let's fucking do this thing.

Happens more often than you…

Happens more often than you think in Europe.

Wayne Rooney (Derby), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United), Vincent Kompany (Anderlecht)... all player-coaches.

Wishing you courage as you…

Wishing you courage as you take these necessary steps to rebuild.

It takes real character to put voice to your challenges.

For whatever it's worth, your contribution to my and so many others' fandom is hugely appreciated.

Good luck.

This feels very much like a …

This feels very much like a "when you know better, do better" situation.

There wasn't the level of scrutiny (or, at least not public scrutiny) back then. It doesn't make it right. It makes it a fact.

We have the ability now to right those wrongs. We can ask the tough questions NOW. And when those tough questions bring to light wrongdoing, acknowledge it. Face it head-on. It's okay to have complex feelings about your love of Michigan when things like this come up.

UEFA and the domestic…

UEFA and the domestic leagues are 100% against it, austensibly because it would ruin the domestic leagues, take away from other tournaments like the FA Cup and make scheduling an even bigger nightmare.

O course we shouldn't pretend that it's not also a money concern for them. If these clubs do this they won't participate in Champions League (so UEFA says) and thus the top revenue (and eyeball-drawing) clubs would not be part of the draw.

Its also a big money grab for these owners as the league stands to be mostly closed (no relegation) for most of the founding members, this guaranteeing revenue, much like the NFL or NBA.

The things that stands out most to me though is how much the fans don't want this.

More details are needed still I think to understand full implications, but I am 100% against this initiative.

This likely cripples the domestic league pyramid which is largely propped up by the big clubs. It'd also be a shame to lose games like Manchester United vs Burnley etc...

Its about $ on both sides at the end of the day, but I'd hate to see the domestic leagues ruined over this.

I agree 100%

And yet it's…

I agree 100%

And yet it's funny the amount of vitriol this fanbase has for Greg M after he defected to OSU. I'm not throwing stones at those folks btw. I was mighty pissed too. Just interesting.

I know what those emojis are…

I know what those emojis are supposed to imply, but as I read it my mind first translated that to "I have a basketball on my sack" and then I started to giggle.

(No subject)

Haskins, Corum, Edwards to…

Haskins, Corum, Edwards to name a few... We will be okay.

Harry Potter and The Goblet…

Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire for the win!!!

and it will be just Michigan…

and it will be just Michigan's luck that 2 of the 3 will turn out to be fucking rockstars.

I feel like we have laughed…

I feel like we have laughed at Izzo a few times in the last few years only for State to get tough late and finish with a decent Big10 tourney finish and subsequent good though not stellar tournament play.

Say what you want about Izzo. He's a cry baby and seems to chuck his players under the bus on the regular, but he gets wins down the stretch and does a pretty good job of coaching up his team as the season goes on.

I hate him, but he's not a bad coach.

The early signing period is…

Double post. Oops.

The early signing period is…

The early signing period is effectively the signing period now though.

It's a bum deal. Bad situation for the player, unavoidable by the staff... If it's not a good fit now that Brown is gone, let the player off the hook.

At the same time, if you feel your new hire will be a good fit for the player, try to resell the player on the new plan.

Totally agree. At this stage…

Totally agree. At this stage, what does this "Michigan Man" concept even mean? For an entire generation of fans, Michigan Man has 0 resonance.

Here are the facts. Michigan is at best a B level team who occasionally looks good in games they should win before getting smoked by OSU.

Else

They are a not very good team who gets smoked by teams they should beat handily.

I hate being such a downer, and there are things I like about the current team (Milton, McGrone/Barrett, Ronnie Bell, Haskins) but it remains pretty clear that we aren't getting enough out of the talent we do have and we're certainly nowhere close to competing with the A-level programs.  Perhaps it's too much to expect that again. The landscape of college football has perhaps passed Michigan by.

Resetting seems inevitable but to what I don't know.

Even with 40 seconds to…

Even with 40 seconds to change their call twice, nothing could be done about the fact that Michigan's front was better than Minnesota's, and Michigan knew it, so they didn't have to commit any more material than necessary to stopping it.

This worked great against Minnesota. I know no one is saying it here, that it could work against anyone, but it's this philosophy I think that the more talented teams take advantage of ah la OSU.

When it works it's beautiful and a sight to behold. When it doesn't it can feel like a steamrolling.

Great write-up as usual, Seth.

Lol! I thought this exact…

Lol! I thought this exact sentiment lying here in bed and came to see if it was the MgoBatSignal calling me to action.

Mask and cowl are on!

Go blue.

Time to rip the face off…

Time to rip the face off this mother. Gotdang I'm excited.

LOL! I find this vitriol…

LOL! I find this vitriol comical. Guys and gals, we get Michigan football in a week. Let's maybe let the guy throw the ball a few times before we start gutting his abilities like he's a fish.

I think we all know he has great physical attributes.

I think we all know what the concerns were coming out of High School.

Harbaugh is supposed to make something of players like this. Time for Jimmy to earn that salary.

Either way, I'm just happy we're going to get some Michigan football soon.

Never say no to pints for…

Never say no to pints for the good guys

I get what you are saying…

I get what you are saying. There is a risk there. Here's the alternative: no football.

The fans, alumni, donors, players, coaches, and current student body want the games to be played. If a safe protocol could not be instituted, I would prefer they opt out of the season. No reason to risk the health of fans and players alike over a game. I know, I know, it means the world to many. I'm just saying...

But...

They have a plan. If things go sideways and Michigan has to forfeit games 6 and 7 of their 8 game season then those are the breaks. We got a handful of games and that's a net positive.

Please don't think I don't want to put health and safety first. I do. But if both health and safety can be kept relatively in check, then I think the current plan is good enough. Maybe we only get 5 games or 3 games. But 5 or 3 is better than 0.

Open to thoughts on this though.

RollDamnTide, is that you?

RollDamnTide, is that you?

If my kids were older, I'd…

If my kids were older, I'd do 2 seasons; the first season would consist of only highs. The second season full of near tragedies and defeats. Sweet is never as sweet w/o the taste of bitter to remind you.

They arent inherently safer…

They arent inherently safer just by not playing.

Really? If they don't play, there are 100+ people in a week with whom they won't come in to contact. Less contact, less risk.

Pointing to data specific to football is tricky b/c, like, no one has played it yet.

But look at other sports. The ones where more variables are controlled, the less positive COVID cases there have been.

The fact that these are student athletes living on a college campus and not paid professionals isolated in their own homes changes the variables too.

If you can't say that football is inherently more dangerous than non-football relative to COVID, I think you CAN say more comingling of peoples IS more dangerous than the alternative.

Which, like Paterno, is 1000…

Which, like Paterno, is 1000% inexcusable especially considering their tenure, stature, and general standing within the athletic department and wider school communities.

Prioritizing comfort is egregious and that's exactly what this looks like.

Based on the facts at hand,…

Based on the facts at hand, there's no scenario here that doesn't 100% require swift action from the university.

He knew. He did nothing.

Take Bo's name down, fire Schmidt, support the victims.

I work for a small web…

I work for a small web development shop and we transitioned to WFH on March 16th. Things for us so far have been positive. We have less than 50 employees and we're setup well to work from home already. My team in particular finished the month at over 100% productivity so we're really please with that.

Personally, my wife and 3 daughters are home with me. The kids are all still doing school work and my wife is furloughed (she's a PT) but we're making the best of it. No longer spending $900/mo on childcare helps and being generally frugal means we're not in a lot of trouble financially. More than anything else, I'm just hoping that everyone's spirits stay high. Being together for this many days in a row is...daunting.

Stay safe everyone!

I haven't been on the site…

I haven't been on the site much lately but reading through this post has given me a good dose of levity. Thanks my dudes for your comedy despite the circumstances.

I'm not going to dredge up…

I'm not going to dredge up some stats on this because fuck that noise, but don't start throwing around Lewerke comparisons. That's just bush league.

She's was a bit of a disappointment but he was better than Lewerke and that should not be a debate.

and when they don't it's…

and when they don't it's just saaaad.

In my opinion, if you don't…

In my opinion, if you don't read everything in the voice of Michael Caine then you're doing it wrong.

I mean there's no question…

I mean there's no question that Brady is an upgrade to Tannehill, but don't you think they'll stick with the guy who is already getting it done for probably a much lower price tag?

Meh, I think the science…

Meh, I think the science pretty conclusively says that what matters most is caloric intake and proper food nutrients. If you eat too much, you gonna get fat. If you eat more reasonably, you won't. Eating nutritionally dense food is a given.

However, if eating a vegan diet help you stick more closely to your daily macros and drives better adherence, then good on you. At the end of the day though, it doesn't really matter what diet you choose. Choose one that works for you.

I believe Stanford State has…

I believe Stanford State has transitioned to a community college. Or a middle school. It's one or the other.

It's a lie!

It's a lie!

And then he pulls off…

And then he pulls off catches like this. Crazy.
