Was this an exceptional…

Was this an exceptional Michigan team? No. That said, as John U. Bacon pointed out on Friday speaking w/Sam Webb, we have now gone to NINE (9) Frozen Fours since we last won a National Championship and come home empty. Call me spoiled, but I have long since grown tired of "close but no cigar."

You're probably of the mind…

You're probably of the mind that Jimmy John's mystery meat is better than Zingerman's Corned Beef Reuben because you can get two of theirs for the price of one at Zingerman's.

ALL of Zingerman's Bakehouse…

ALL of Zingerman's Bakehouse goods are phenomenal. Try the Obama Bun if you like sticky buns. Cinnamon Raisin bread is terrific, Lemon Cloud, Blondie, etc, etc.

After supported Harbaugh…

After supported Harbaugh unconditionally until the 2-4 season, I said, albeit painfully, he had to go. This is probably the only thing I can say Warde got right. That aside, insofar as Juwan, if there were cause for optimism I would agree w/many that say let's see what happens next year. But so far we cannot jump up and down w/joy about the recruits coming in, nor can we realistically say "oh, he'll get good players in the portal" given the dictates from Admissions. One thing that has not been given much attention is whether he "still has the locker room." If he doesn't that signs the deal for me.

I have been looking for a…

I have been looking for a picture of the national championship team everywhere, but have had no luck. Does anyone have an idea where I can purchase one? Thanks.

I have had zero luck trying…

I have had zero luck trying to buy a picture of the national championship team, taken either in front of the Rose Bowl or in the Big House. I would appreciate any guidance. The 1997 team picture I have was shot in front of the Rose Bowl. Thanks.

As a donor, I was invited to…

As a donor, I was invited to the Rose Bowl luncheon reception and the pre-game tailgate. I had the opportunity to meet President Ono. My last sentence to him was: "I hope we can keep Jimmy." He looked me right in the eye and w/o hesitation said: "Believe me, I'm doing everything I can to make that happen." Contrast this w/my brief exchange w/Warde where I repeated the same. He said: "I hope so too." I'm only an attorney and not a psychologist or psychiatrist. That said, FWIW, my sense of his body language and tone smacked of patronizing insincerity.

We're flying from the Bay…

We're flying from the Bay Area. Knowing that parking at the Rose Bowl can be challenging, I went onto the official Rose Bowl website and bought a parking pass for $55.

I would call the M Den and…

I would call the M Den and ask them when they'll be getting a new shipment. They'll have to stock them no later than August before the 2023 football season. I know this time frame is not what your son and you want, but I too looked at all of the various vendors and saw nothing pretty much in any size.

I know we wore all blue…

I know we wore all blue against 43210 last year, but it's really not a good look when you have maize pants at your disposal.

Paul Keels is a very good…

Paul Keels is a very good announcer. That said, respectfully, Bob Ufer brought something unique to his broadcasts, something we no longer see. He remains my all-time favorite football announcer. Listen to his call of Billy Taylor's touchdown against Ohio State in 1972; it's special.

This is not an original…

This is not an original thought, but I often quote Rick Neuheisel who reminds us: "It's not about X's and O's, but Jimmys and Joes." Sure, its great to develop 3* to 4* or 5*, but clearly starting w/purported superior talent puts you ahead in the long run. Look what Brian Hartline, the 43210 WR coach has done w/recruiting, many of whom are first round NFL picks. Their receivers come ready to standout. And I say this loving Ronnie Bell, et al.

And Lavert Hill by Cleveland.

And Lavert Hill by Cleveland.

The Islanders unexpectedly…

The Islanders unexpectedly hired John MacLean as an assistant, apparently pushing Wiseman w/o explanation.

I don't think one had to be…

I don't think one had to be an NBA scout to see Iggy was not close to being ready after his freshman year. And I highly doubt Beilein would have suggested he go.

Thanks, but clearly only a…

Thanks, but clearly only a partial list. I stuck to rock and did not include any jazz, e.g., Miles, Bill Evans, Coltrane, et al.

Agree wholeheartedly about…

Agree wholeheartedly about Terry Kath, who unfortunately remains an under-appreciated guitar player. And yes, the "Chicago" we knew before he passed away was clearly superior for many reasons and was never the same.

Old school - no apologies -…

Old school - no apologies - not in any particular order:

1. Chicago ("Chicago II")

2. Traffic - John Barleycorn Must Die

3. Steely Dan - Gaucho

4. The Who - Who's Next

5. Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky

6. The Beatles - Sargent Pepper

7. Boz Scaggs - Silk Degrees

I too am "old" in the…

I too am "old" in the relative sense.  As noted below, the blue jersey is iconic.  The current version of the white jersey is okay; I prefer the one Harbaugh wore.  And while we are talking about uniforms, I wish we'd go back to wearing only maize pants, both at home and on the road.  Any other combination, whether white pants on the road or monochromatic all blue do not appeal to my eye, but that's just one person's opinion.

How is this possible when we…

How is this possible when we are scheduled to play Nebraska in Ann Arbor on October 15?

Like countless others, I was…

Like countless others, I was thrilled when we hired Harbaugh.  And like countless others, yesterday was the latest chapter of unqualified pain.  The question to date has been "Okay; if not Harbaugh, who should coach this team?"  For me the question has now changed to "Could anyone do worse than Harbaugh against Michigan State and Ohio State?"  If we lose to Penn State and Ohio State, Warde will have a hard time justifying Harbaugh coming back.  Remind Luke Fickell Bo earned a Master's Degree from Ohio State and Gary Moeller played for and graduated from Ohio State.

I still do not understand…

I still do not understand wearing white pants on the road. Bo did so for one year; period.  We should be wearing maize pants whether its home or on the road.  I'm personally not a fan of the blue pants if for no other reason than they veer from tradition.  No apologies for thinking old school.

I cannot stand blue pants or…

I cannot stand blue pants or white pants on the road.  Maize pants; period.

We hear all the time how…

We hear all the time how describing a QB as "managing the game" can be annoying (because it is). So far, as much as I deplore saying this, whether by design (play calling) or whatever (execution), Cade is "managing the game." I stand corrected on which game, but during the Western Michigan game I believe, Joel Klatt (who is not as cloying as Gus Johnson) said J.J. is the "more athletic" of the two (which is true).  We have already seen, albeit in limited fashion, J.J. can make plays Cade cannot both in terms of his arm and legs.  There may be a point whether on Saturday at Camp Randall or beyond where the offense needs a jump start and Harbaugh recognizes this and makes the change, as much as he may veer towards being stubborn and not.

No issue how good Butt was,…

No issue how good Butt was, but better than Mandich?

They pulled the same stunt w…

They pulled the same stunt w/Mike Webster. The RB coach at that time bolted for the Chicago Bears right after the kid committed.  They have no scruples.

Michigan has NEVER worn blue…

Michigan has NEVER worn blue pants.  Let's not become like 43210 and wear alternate uniforms just for the sake and benefit of Nike.  There is zero reason why we do not wear maize pants for every game.  Bo had us wearing white pants for a single season; period.  If it lasted more than one year it ended after two years.  And the road jersey should be the same one Harbaugh wore when he played.  This notion that tradition equates to "old school" who leads to time for change is silly.

Take a walk down High Street…

Take a walk down High Street; go over to the Oval and walk through it. When you're in the Stadium go up to "C" Deck; cool view.

A win will not offset the…

A win will not offset the fallout from losing in Columbus.  We've already lost 2 RB commits in the last week.  I don't see these as coincidences.

I have two tickets.  Can you…

I have two tickets.  Can you get to an office on Liberty Street off of State to pick them up?

If you want a really nice…

If you want a really nice meal w/excellent food (that's not inexpensive but worth it), go to Zingerman's Roadhouse in A2.

Zingerman's Sorry, but Zingerman's is not overrated "based on reputation." I've been coming to Ann Arbor for decades, and my family and I eat literally all of our meals (breakfast and lunch at the Deli and dinner at the Roadhouse) at one Zingerman's establishment or another. How it can be merged w/the average at best restaurants on Main St. is amusing.
