- They continue to post content no one in their target cares about (USMNT, Draftageddon or whatever it's called)
- Thier "peers" (elevenwarriors, etc.) are so far superior in layout and robustness as to be almost in entirely different categories
- It's costing them money in sponsorship dollars - which is why their premier sponsor is some mortgage lending dude (who I am sure is a fine fellow) who no one outside of Washtenaw county would ever patronize.

He had 22 carries for 164 yards and 2 TDs (one receiving). In my memory that was his only big day, but turns out he had several other 100 yard games over the next couple of years, and that was sharing the backfield with Wheatley and Ricky Powers. Dude was shaped like a bowling ball - great nickname "housecat".

I get so tired of listening to the whining about refs. Refs can be terrible - that has been the case since forever.
When you don't play defense and are constantly trying to recover from defensive lapses, you are constantly switching and lunging and stuff gets called against you, because there are lots of opportunities for the refs to blow the whistle.
Offensively, when you don't attack the rim and can't create off the dribble you are going to get fewer calls.
We don't have the talent or scheme to get any breaks from the refs. Stop bitching and play better, plain and simple.

A true gentlemen with a big heart. Never had a bad word to say about anyone, kept his coaching to the point without shouting or humiliating his players, and was a quiet, dignified presence on a staff that included some larger personalities (Bo, Mo, Hanlon, Miles, Cameron) I am pretty sure he retired from Michigan and did not coach elsewhere, but I could be wrong.
But man could he coach. He really coached some great ones, up through Ricky Powers and the beginning of the Wheatley/Biakabutuka era, when Freddy J took over. Great guy.

Brian has several oddly irrelevant obsessions, but Mike DeBord has to be the oddest. Who cares about Mike DeBord? Or even more to the point, who cares about some backwater beat writer's support of him? The irony of criticizing someone from the distant past for living in the distanter past is hard to ignore... Time to move on, man.

MGoBlog is the equivalent of a really good italian restaurant that has a one hour wait from 4pm to 9pm despite the fact that half the tables are open. Brian et al make really good spaghetti, but they have no idea how to run a restaurant properly. I suggest you go down the street. The marinara isn't as good but at least you won't starve to death waiting.

Every team in the College football playoff had either a great RB or a great QB, or both. We had neither. And we really don't have one in the wings (that anyone outside of Schembechler Hall is aware of, anyway). In Harbaugh We Trust, but that needs to change in a hurry or get used to Top 10 but not Top 4 finishes.

Every team in the playoff has either a star RB, a star QB, or both. We have neither. Until we do, we don't deserve a spot at the table.

...that these athletes are given a world class education in exchange for something 99.9% of HS athletes would give a digit in their non-throwing hand - a chance to play a game in front of 110,000 people cheering throngs? Or that they always have the option to pay for their own school at one of 2000 colleges in the US?
Or that, like any other worker/employer relationship, they can always quit after one year or two years or two weeks and join the rest of the regular college kids and pay their own way while incurring $200,000 in student loan debt? These poor downtrodden kids - they need someone to stand up for them. That's what we are here for!

No way I am supporting McCaffrey in this. And it isn't because of what I or any "fans" think. Whether this impacts us is irrelevant. Andit isn't because he shouldn't be allowed to. No doubt he has the right to play or not.
It's about his teammates. I promise you they are pissed. 95% of them won't ever sniff the NFL, and every game matters, especially the last game of the year, and especially to his fellow seniors who came in with him. Even if they are saying publically it is OK, the vast majority of them greatly resent this.
Those guys gave as much blood sweat and tears as McCaffrey did for th past 4 years. This is their "payday" and he is letting them down by greatly decreasing his chance to win this game. Why is this game any different than their last regular season game? He could have got injured then, and his draft status was the same before that game as after. What about Week 7? Should he have skipped that one too?
Ace is way off base here - I realize he is the #1 hand-wringer in defense of the poor downtrodden exploited college football player, but what about all those guys who aren't going to get paid for playing on Sundays? Those guys deserve a chance at a win in their last game, and McCaffrey is selfishly denying them that.

...apparently you can post literally anything on the MGoBoard as long as you label it "Off Topic"? Yes, I understand that I don't have to read this thread, but if there are literelly zero guidelines for content, then they might as well name it "MGoFacebook". That would be a tragedy.
|4 weeks 2 days ago||Obviously he has a RIGHT to do it...||
...no one would dispute that.
But there is no doubt it is bad form. Football is the ultimate team sport, and whether you are a superstar or not you are a member of the team. He owes it to his teammates, most of whom will never play after college, and who have given just as much blood sweat and tears as he has, to give them the best possible chance at a victory.
In the final analysis, he is letting them down for his own selfish reasons. Football is an inherently dangerous sport - he is no more likely to get injured in the bowl game than he was every other game. By extension, should he have taken the last four games of the season off too, since the risk of injury was the same and he knew they were his last?
And by the way, if you say you wouldn't mind if Peppers or Butt sat out the Orange Bowl you are a complete liar - and worse - a hypocrite.

|4 weeks 5 days ago||Double post||
Double post - and there is no freaking way I hit "save" twice, for the record. Infrastrucutre might need some updating, perchance?
|4 weeks 5 days ago||You're right...||
no one is making me come here.
But when many of us have offerred funds to update the infrastructure and it gets completely ignored, it gets frustrationg.
And full disclosure, if Brian and Co decided tomorrow to discontinue this site tomorrow, my life would not change one bit. I would miss it, but life would go on completely uninterrupted.
That is also why it is so frustrating. If they ran it like literally any other successful business, they would realize that their source of revenue (advertising) is handicapped severely by some very basic and easily corrected structural items. And they just don't care. It's like watching your favorite restaurant slowly go under because they just can't figure out how the get that open 6-top table that's been sitting there open for ten minutes on Friday night filled even though they have an 45-minute waiting list. Pretty soon people are going to stop showing up and next thing you know the proprietor, who makes a really great alfredo sauce, is working at applebees.

That much is clear. Consider:
Unfortunately my visits here have declined here dramatically over the past 6 months - not suggesting that my clicks are missed, just suggesting that I am probably not alone. Come on guys, you're better than this.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||You have no idea what Bo intended.||
Just because you only heard it once. Bo used the term all the time when addressing the team. It meant you were part of something bigger than yourself. Something special. It meant integrity, hard work, and a loyalty to one another.
|4 weeks 5 days ago||Look up "Prerequisite" in your dictionary, guys...||
Good lord, you guys are pathetic. It's about cultural fit, that's all.
I clearly said it wasn't a guarantee for greatness (e.g. Brandon, Hoke). I said it was a prerequisite. Manball has returned, led by a Michigan Man. I really want to know - Why do you guys and Brian et al take this so personally? It's OK to be wrong about something, and you were wrong about this. The concept of "Michgan Man" is one of the things that makes Michigan unique in the college football landscape. Own it. Embrace it. And above all, get over it.

|4 weeks 6 days ago||"Michigan Man" Irony||
This guy appears to be the quintessential Michigan Man. Now he can prove it.
Someday, Brian and company will stop being so butt-hurt by the fact that those of us who rolled our eyes at the Richrod hire, knowing he wasn't a good cultural fit to the program (because we were from inside the program) were correct. Acknowledge that Michgan Man is a good thing. Your coach is one. Your interim AD who saved the program and hired your coach was one.
No it isn't a magic potion for greatness but it is a prerequesite. Get over it. The "Michigan Man" term can be used with sincerity by those of us who understand it, or with irony by those of you who don't. It will be here long after we all are gone. Embrace it.
