Hope you finally got a piece…

Hope you finally got a piece of that apple pie. Thanks for those middle school memories!

While this is usually true,…

While this is usually true, Sam Webb has mentioned point-blank that he believes that should UM win today that Jackson was likely to commit.

They coached and schemed to…

They coached and schemed to win, and it shows. It's been a long time coming, and it's sweet. Go Blue.

Go Blue, indeed.

Go Blue, indeed.

I mean, maybe not a need,…

I mean, maybe not a need, but I found this about 30 seconds after into looking for recipes on Meathead Goldwyn’s site:

Impress guests at your next BBQ and grilling cookout for this sweet and savory rib recipe starring a savory sweet glaze. The secret is that you'll use the Texas Crutch, which is wrapping the meat in foil late in the cook, and then take the juices from the foil, add some apple juice, maple syrup, and make the glaze. It makes extremely tender, juicy, meat with a beautiful mirror like sheen. More than one cook has written me to tell me that the recipe makes the best ribs they have ever tasted.

4-4

Too many interceptions…

4-4

Too many interceptions on O, and our lack of corners and DT depth are exposed on D. But it's such a weird year with all the COVID variables that I'm forced to revise my guess.

8-0

I was the drummer in a short lived ska band in the early 2000s called Cut to Scene. One of the highlights was getting to play at the Pig in front of our devoted group of about 30 friends. Fun times.

Saw it and thought the same thing. The difference between the UM and MSU commercials is telling.

Yes, but what about the rest of the team?

I won’t get excited, I won’t…

I won’t get excited, I won’t get excited, checked 247 team calculator and realized we’d have the #5 class in the nation with Crouch, I won’t excited... Darn.

FWIW, I think this is how…

FWIW, I think this is how the class finishes out:

-Anthony Solomon

-Cornelius Johnson

-Late 3 Star Safety or TE

All the optimism around Harrison and Hill will evaporate right before they sign with OSU and Alabama, respectively.

No shame in the way this class wrapped up. Lots of high end potential and high ceiling 3 stars to build off of.

Does anyone else find joy impossible inside the BPONE? Nice game so far and all that, but this does little to dispel the notion M cannot win against good teams. Sigh.

Magnus, who do you feel is Magnus, who do you feel is the superior prospect between Barnhart and Stewart?

Great interview all around. Great interview all around. Very interesting to see how the Gil and Ross competition works out. Sounds like both will play, but I figured Gil would be left behind. Herbert sure sounds like an excellent hire so far.
One of the more appropriate One of the more appropriate word choice errors.

Season’s already a rousing Season’s already a rousing success, but why stop now? Go Blue!
I’m going to really enjoy I’m going to really enjoy watching him play one last time for UofM this year. He possesses such a rare blend of humility, raw talent, work ethic, and leadership that he makes every around him better. The scouts got it right on him, and the NFL is going to have its hands full when he goes in the top 5 of the draft next year. He deserves all the success that’s coming to him... let’s hope that includes a playoff season and finally beating OSU.
Had the chance to watch the

Had the chance to watch the 2nd half in a dining facility in Afghanistan. Couldn't help but yell out when Poole hit the shot. It was worth it, even if every one else thought there might be incoming indirect fire. Go Blue!

Nice recruiting win for Nice recruiting win for Michigan. Encouraging to see that Pep Hamilton was his primary recruiter.
This is true in all This is true in all likelihood. No reason for optimism here.
Hutchinson, Sims, Gemon Hutchinson, Sims, Gemon Green, and McGrone all have encouraging comps. The rest... have to hope to get lucky.
Not a big surprise, but Not a big surprise, but Warinner’s FB page includes the title “Assistant Coach / Run Game Coordinator”. Guessing this means JM is the de facto OC / WR coach, and Pep retains the Pasing Game Coordinator title.
Rachel Denhollander’s victim Rachel Denhollander’s victim statement is an incredibly moving testimony of grace in the midst of horrible suffering. Highly recommend reading the whole statement: https://www.cnn.com/2018/01/24/us/rachael-denhollander-full-statement/i…
By all appearances, he’s well By all appearances, he’s well worth the money and increase in responsibility. The LBs have done well under his tutelage, and his recruiting prowess is well known. Even with all the other coaching moves on the staff, keeping Partridge was the most important move. The recruiting dip this cycle notwithstanding, 2019 will almost certainly benefit from his recruiting leadership. I bet he does well as a safeties coach, too, if only because Brown is willing to entrust the position to him. Things are looking up.
UofM Army ROTC class of ‘06. UofM Army ROTC class of ‘06. UH-60 pilot currently serving in Afghanistan, bummed that the game won’t be on until 1AM. Maybe I’ll try for an early bedtime and catch at least part of the beating. Go Blue, and Go Army.

Was it just me, or did Frey's

Was it just me, or did Frey's comment about Cole at center "loving it even more" than his role at LT suggest that he thinks Cole would be a better fit there? I don't think that idea is revolutionary in itself, but would be the first time the that the staff has admitted they would prefer him there.

What an absolutely critical

What an absolutely critical hire Greg Frey was. At a time when OT development and recruitment has been one of the few deficiencies, Frey comes in and immediately addresses that need. Getting Isaiah Wilson would have been huge, but I like the athletic, high ceiling guys Frey has gotten. I think he makes a plausible RT out of someone at least by mid season, and by next year will have solid guys at every position. Lots of reason for optimism come directly from Frey's influence.

FWIW, I'm proud of Marshall. FWIW, I'm proud of Marshall. Would be easy to be discouraged with the young DL coming in and pushing for backup snaps. If he's added 40+ pounds since he enrolled, made the transition to 3T, AND given his all to the team despite his lack of playing time so far, that's really impressive. I'll be rooting with Harbaugh this year for Marshall.
The last "not great" The last "not great" excitement rating was given in last year's class to Devin Gil. When you look at the two of them, there are very different reasons for this. With Gil, there is a clear lack of athleticism and some projection as he needs to add a lot of weight to be feasible at ILB. I think Gil was the lone flyer in that class, and is still a "What'd the coaches see in that guy?" recruit to me. No "arrows" pointing up. Kurt Taylor is a different story. Yes, he's not likely to be in line for starting RB duties. Yes, he lacks explosion and long speed. He doesn't possess any superior football skills. But Taylor is an intensely devoted, hard working, strong kid that has a clear road to contribution as a 3rd down, pass protecting RB. He'll also likely surprise as a pass catcher who's able to pick up 4-6 yards. I agree that his overall excitement level remains low if only because 3rd down backs aren't typically high profile players, but Taylor is in a categorically different boat than Gil.
My wife and I took our 6 My wife and I took our 6 month old to the 2016 Outback Bowl. We lucked into scalping tickets on the shady side of the stadium at the very highest row. Wife took an Ergo, blanket, and wax earplugs for the kid, and he slept like a champ for about half the game. He was amenable the rest of the time (can turn them forward-facing when awake). I realize a 1 year old doesn't typically sleep as long, but if the game can coincide with a 2 hour nap, it's very doable. Plus, we weren't charged for his ticket so it went about as smoothly as we could have hoped for. As an aside, we have 3 children, now 4,2, and 10 months old. We travel all around Europe with them, and have decided to go just about everywhere with them within reason. We plan plenty of stops at parks and playgrounds so they can run around and have unstructured play while we're traveling, but taking them with us instead of getting babysitters trains them early on how to act appropriately in public. People marvel at how well behaved they are, and I attribute it partly to the way we integrate the kids into our travel and out of the home events. Still, nice to have a babysitter for what we consider adult only events i.e. date nights, plays, concerts, etc.
These recruiting These recruiting retrospectives are great in part because they help you frame your impressions over time. Tarik's recruitment was not a foregone conclusion, but it didn't have the drama that, say, Solomon's did. And because of that, I undervalued Black's addition to the class. This article helped me see that. Black is gonna be great.
The staff can afford to take The staff can afford to take high upside project DBs after the last two classes. Between Long, Hill, Washington, Thomas, Metellus, Kinnel, JKP, Woods, and Hawkins, it'll be at least two years before the DBs from this year's class have a chance to play meaningful minutes. Now's the perfect time to grab underrecuited guys that don't mind waiting awhile to play that have the potential to be big time talents once they get the coaching and strength gains to catch up to their 5 and 4 star peers.

This year's WR haul is This year's WR haul is bananas. Hard to believe Martin was almost an afterthought at the end of the recruiting cycle... I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up the most productive WR from the class.
