reports and online speculation, it appears that the most important qualification is that the DC have Michigan ties. Why get the best DC available (whomever that might be) when someone with UM ties could be persuaded to come back?
RR: among the best facilities in the country, if not the best. Largest stadium in country with great new renovations.
Beilein: worst facilities in Big 10. Crisler Arena in bottom of Big 10.
Add to the fact that Beilein is squeaky-clean in the cesspool that is college basketball recruiting, then yes, he does get a longer rope. Saw somewhere recently (don't remember where, don't have link, at work no time to find it) that Brandon believes he needs to provide Beilein with competitive advantage in terms of facilities, etc, then he (Brandon) can fully evaluate Beilein appropriately.
Singing of The Victors in the student section corner of the end zone after the wins at home. Wish there would have been more of those W's, and hoping Coach Hoke can help lead the team to many, many renditions of The Victors with the students.
the 40 former players? I heard a handful of names mentioned at the press conference. I believe most if not all are local to Ann Arbor. Not being a smartass.. I truly have not heard about 40 former players being there. Where did you see this?
And there is no way he could have "done this on Nov 28" as others have mentioned. He fires RR and hires Hoke on Nov 28, and everyone is left wondering about Harbaugh, Miles, etc. And he couldn't have hired JH on Nov 28 cuz JH wasn't going to come at that point in time. If getting someone with UM ties was immensely important, as it appears to be, then the way it was done was really the only way.
Oh wait...it WAS (kinda) back in 1973 when we tied for the title with OSU and Sparty
and failed to continue on to where it said:
voted to send them instead of us. Maybe this is Karmic payback.
So I was merely commenting that UM did not tie with OSU and Sparty. But thanks for the fascinating history lesson. Who is this Bo fellow you speak of? And what of this vote thing?
Mich and OSU tied for the Big Ten, as the only blemish on their records was the tie against each other. MSU was not in the conversation regarding the 1973 Big 10 Championship.
Isn't that a huge stretch? When is Carr supposed to announce? By the way, a lot of stuff I have read the last few years by the more reliable posters seems to suggest that Carr wanted out a year earlier, but was talked into staying by Bill Martin. If that is even close to the truth, then Martin had a long time to do his searching. And doesn't any Athletic Director worth his salt have a list of potential replacements, for all his coaches, in the event of drastic circumstances? Blaming Carr for the timing of his retirement is not new, but to me it sure seems like grasping at straws. On the long list of how things went down that negatively impacted the program, wouldn't there be about 497 other things that come first?
You truly believe that Brandon believed that? He never wanted to move that game; furthermore, he knew that his fan base would never accept moving the OSU game. He played the best card he had - publicity. His other options were to go public against the Conference Commissioner (not what a smart new AD would do); or to remain silent and let the game be moved. He chose the wisest course of action with the end result being the game remained at the end of the season.
If you're going to introduce a new system, then you need to implement it your way. Wife of Six Zero obviously has done brick and mortar shopping for years, it's what she knows best. Even if Six Zero's talents are more of the online variety, as the head coach of Shopping, she will do it her way. The talent, the computer system implemented by Six Zero, the large computer screen, the dual monitor system, all mean nothing. She will do it her way. The results in the early years of Wife Day were sometimes brutal; but now that Six Zero is a veteran of the system, he is performing close to the standards set by the fans of his wife.
Why is Ron English talking about himself? Why not talk about his team? Granted, not much he can say, but he can talk about scoring 20 on OSU, he can talk about learning experience for his guys, etc, etc. Why talk about himself in the way that he does in this instance?

Ummm... that is a fake Hoke account. Verified by Angelique on the day of Hoke's presser.
