harbaugh for coach, hackett for emperor!!

it wouldn't be mgoblog without the snarky response to a friendly post!
|1 day 20 hours ago||if the nintendo still works||
if the nintendo still works without copious amounts of spit on the cartridge, that is
bears with jim harbaugh was my favorite team in tecmo bowl II
every pass with harbaugh was a coin toss big play or interception. neal anderson was a beast, though
|2 days 20 hours ago||i did read the same||
i did read the same article
here's what balas says
"For the record, he's [LaCanfora] right about Harbaugh briefly accepting the Michigan job, U-M coveting his brother and John Harbaugh making it clear he wants to stay at Baltimore, and we've reported that in the last month. We also reported Michigan's interest in Payton, at which point reporters like Fletcher Mackel out of New Orleans dismissed it as "embarrassing.""

true, but it is increasingly clear that what took him so long was that he was honing in on finding the right interim leader, which he appears to have nailed

Team needs to stop playing sofbaugh and start playing harbaugh, dammit.
Chatman is a major disappointment so far.

didn't want to start another thread just for this, but has anyone else thought about the whole 49 million to leave the "49ers"? coincidence or is that number part of the sly hackett approach?

this is wrong. richrod had issues with the AD prior to luck. luck came in a year after rich rod left for michigan.

not a huge fan of releasing the letter to the press. i feel like it just rehashes our dirtly laundry out in public, but i understand its intentions.
but please, if you are going to release it to the press, could he at least have spelled the past tense of "to lead" correctly?! it's "led" not "lead" for goodness sakes!
/off my spelling soapbox now

i'd say 3. university of san diego was terrible before he turned that DII school's program around too.
he's the closest thing to a slam dunk coach there is.
|3 weeks 1 day ago||i have to agree with this||
i have to agree with this statement. carr has not produced a single solid head coach from his coaching tree. debord, english, and now hoke have all spectacularly failed. and many of his so called promising coordinators/position coaches have not panned out either. loeffler may be a solid qb coach, but he is pretty sketchy as an offensive coordinator. everywhere he has been in that role (auburn, va tech) have taken steps back under his guidance.
harbaugh, in his very brief time as a head coach at stanford, has already produced an excellent head coach in david shaw.

agree, i also enjoyed the start time b/c i was watching on the west coast. but that doesn't mean i agree with the late start time from coach b's perspective, let alone the 10-15 delay to watch two mac football teams play each other on a random tuesday night

yay, great start time for those of us on the west coast!

I have to say that watching our offense makes me understand so much better why saban wanted nuss out.

|7 weeks 6 days ago||i agree not as likely, but||
i agree not as likely, but not too crazy. i recall castiglione being a talked-about candidate for the AD when martin was retiring as well.
oklahoma has a great football team, but michigan has the better overall athletic environment now between excellent teams in basketball, hockey, swimming, gymnastics, etc not to mention emerging teams in soccer and lacrosse.
essentially, michigan is an upgrade over oklahoma from a total athletic department standpoint, so him moving to ann arbor isn't really that far-fetched.

i was trying to turn a new leaf!!!!!!! i suggest you relax and try it!
i never said that i don't make mistakes...just that they happen as downstream consequence of someone else's mistakes...
now if you will excuse me, i need to start drinking before i get canned.
p.s. will you help me find a new team to root for?

so you came up with a fully implausible theory as an alternative to what the preponderance of evidence seems to indicate to be true?
i for one don't think it is at all implausible that dave brandon thought he was above all this. he is an egomaniac. and let's face it, no one would have ever brought this whole thing up if hoke just would have won more games (although they should have).
i think we have lots of evidence that this email pattern fits right in with who dave brandon is and how he acts. just watch any of his video recorded interviews.
|9 weeks 9 hours ago||he's a solid coach but a||
he's a solid coach but a spectacular recruiter.
he's done a great job with an under-the-radar program that was a tire fire when he was hired.
i just don't see him at michigan, though.
talent is not the issue at michigan, it is actual coaching. doc holliday's success is related to his ability to inject talent into a program deficient of it. michigan is getting plenty of talent. we just need a coach who knows what to do with it and develop it accordingly.

i used to think we should have traded that old Carr for one with Les Miles, but maybe Martin was right all along with the hot Rod.

john l smith has sort of shown up...nuss was on john l's staff back in the day. we may be looking at him as our interim coach, just as john l served after bobby williams' ouster
|12 weeks 3 days ago||sorry, you have embarrassed||
sorry, you have embarrassed yourself with your post.
a head coach cannot keep deferring responsibility. at some point, he needs to have a clue what is going on the field. he is paid handsomely to know what is going on the field. his responses have been comical.
this is not an excuse to fire hoke. most of us had already made up our minds that he needed to go at the end of the season. it is that he is damaging michigan (and players' health) by staying on any longer.
we need him to go now so that we can all move on and so that we can have some dignity left as a program that holds those entrusted with the well-being of who hoke himself calls his "sons" accountable for their gross negligence.
|12 weeks 3 days ago||good work brian!||
cbs sports has picked this up, referencing mgoblog's videos with a link at the bottom of the article.
this issue is so important, and hoke cannot be given a pass on it. he (and brandom) needs to go now.

dude, that was a helmet to helmet hit, and was by definition targeting. he launched his helmet at morris's chin. with all due respect, i think it is really hard to argue that roughing the passer flag was enough.

unacceptable that the refs didn't eject him for targeting. they actually should be reprimanded/suspended for their gaffe by the big ten office, but i am sure they won't be

saban also has an asterisk. he had a brief cameo as the miami dolphins headcoach, but left mid-season to take the reigns of alabama.
