I probably would have voted for whatever team had Ezekiel Elliott. Absolute beast. You have to key on him, and as a result, pretty much any QB is going to have enough room to throw in comfort. And the defense is strong as well.

FWIW, Harbaugh's QB at the University of San Diego, Josh Johnson, was also drafted in the fifth round of the 2008 draft. For those unfamiliar, USD is an FCS level program that does not have players drafted that often, so both player and coach deserve praise. Also, it was the start of the Harbaugh as college QB guru buzz, probably a key part in landing Andrew Luck etc etc.

Maybe I just want us to be better than we are, but I really thought I saw some glimmers of the offense that we've been wanting to run. Derrick Green looked great, once he finally got a healthy dose of carries. The O-line had its moments as well. Funchess and Butt are a terrific one-two punch.
I'm not saying we are where we need to be, but I can conceive of this offense evolving into the power offense that we've been waiting for. My gripe is with the play calling for the first half. Once it became clear that we had to, that power O finally appeared. Will we come out pounding the ball from the start in the next game? No idea.
I know that's kind of a positive writeup after losing to Rutgers, but I genuinely won't be surprised if we get it together at some point before the season is over, and upset someone. Will it save Hoke? Again, no idea. But after this, I can actually imagine them finding a way to end the season on an positive arc rather than just giving up and throwing in the towel.

I'm going to go with LT-Cole, LG-Mags, RG-Kalis, RT-Braden. All easy enough for me. But my problem is that I THINK I want Glasgow in the game, so I might put him in at center. To me, that makes more sense than putting him in at LG and Miller at center.

That would be much better. Usually when you say agg assault, it is because it involves a weapon or great bodily harm, and the penalty is much harsher. If, as you say, all three are misdemeanors, the future is much better for him.

|1 year 24 weeks ago||good question||
I wondered that too. I looked up one of the bracketology gurus. He said that Arizona had the third #1 seed totally locked down and the loss wouldn't matter. But who the heck knows? Take that with a grain of salt. Obviously, I am also hoping that it frees up another #1, but I'm really not too sure . . .

|1 year 25 weeks ago||genuine question||
Is this a really bad sign for our season? Usually losing to an Ivy means disaster, but there are a few sports they are quite good at: hockey and that sort of thing. Is baseball one that they are competitve in, or was this just kind of a rough outing for us ?

That article is freaking priceless. Do you think they had a lot of doubt in the outcome of the game for very long? ? ?

Once this NCAA tournament is over, I'll be able to give Adreian Payne my full support on and off the court. Sounds like he deserves it.
I'll even invite him to come over and look at our new NCAA champs banner in Crisler ;-)
|1 year 25 weeks ago||also||
Nebraska beats Wisconsin and we take care of business against Indiana, and we just moved up a seed in the tournament, in all likelihood . . . .
|1 year 25 weeks ago||obviously I hope not||
Has anyone heard any mention of Caris Levert making an early exit? I don't think it's very plausible, but I only mention it because I could have sworn I saw the possibility somewhere. It was probably just a poster here being goofy, but I wasn't happy about that premise. The NBA drafts on potential these days, and a young and skinny kid who is going to fill out but has all the potetial in the world? I still don't buy it, but everyone reassure me again that it is impossible!
Also, I concur with the majority - McGary and GRIII come back, Stauskas wins B1G PoY, and leaves, possibly as a lottery pick, depending on his tournament performance. (he disappeared like Houdini in the title game last year)
|1 year 26 weeks ago||has anyone looked at Kenpom?||
In Kenpom's rating's, we're numner 14. Below Iowa. Below Ohio State. To be honest, I really don't understand his ratings in the least . . .
And I concur with the general sentiment that we'll probably be around 11-12. We should jump 9, 10, 11, and 15. Doubt they drop Louisville below us, because Rick Pitino . . .

But every time it comes up, I'm going to tell the world, I'm a Khalid Hill backer. I don't know why, but I think he's going to get in there, bang heads, and be tough and versatile.
This hould probably be saved for one of our myriad "who will be our pleasant surprise player" threads, but I'm going to throw it out there anyway. I'm hoping he sees some action this year.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Not even close||
He is accountabile for his actions, just like anyone else. I doubt Jim Tressel intentionally tried to ruin the OSU football prgram either, but I have a hard tiime believing that you and all of the other Fisher apoligists were so forgiving toward him.
He is the only one who never paid any price whatesoever for the Fab 5 scandal. He brought discgrace to the school that is only now clearing.
As far as giving it a rest, it isn't like I ever bring this matter up. But if he is going to be mentioned as part of the program again, I will feel free to speak my mind, If you don't like that, give that a rest.
I'd be see it as perfectly appropriate if he were given a lifetime ban from the school. You know, the same school that disassociated itself with the players involved, and took down their banners, and removed all pictures of them from the university.
And spare me the personal "you're just an angry person" attacks. They don't strengthen your argument.
|1 year 26 weeks ago||Well Done||
Congrats - your work paid off, and you deserve the feeling of accomplisment now, and all of the accomplishments that you are sure to enjoy in the future. Go buy yourself something blue and gold!
|1 year 26 weeks ago||neg away||
To hell with Steve Fisher. He was head coach, and it happened under his watch. It was his responsibility. Remember Jim Tressel and what everyone on this board had to say about him? Now let's multiply that by around ten thousand. I'm pissed every time I see him here in San Diego.
And don't try and play the history card on me. I was there during those years and was running around the streets with everyone else when we won those tournament games. Of course, none of us knew at the time that our team payroll was higher than that of the Pistons.
Now that I have vented, let the flaming commence . . .
|1 year 28 weeks ago||funny you should say that||
i heard that Ed Martin was going to be his assistant for the game . . .

|1 year 28 weeks ago||depends||
Did the map just show where Wisconsin is and where Michigan is? If she had been thinking Milwaukee, that really isn't that unreasonable, if she has no idea what city has the football team.
After all, Milwaukee does host Wisconsin's NBA franchise. It is still smaller than Detroit, but not by all that much. If the map made it clear that it was Green Bay and Detroit, that wasn't the best guess ever . . . .
|1 year 30 weeks ago||classic dilemma||
The feeling you get from Sam's article is definitely what we have been hearing, that Malik really likes that party atmosphere at MSU, while his parents really think much more highly of the UM academics.
The travel issue makes it sound that although he likes FSU, they will probably be on the outside looking in. I'm not sure where OSU will fit, as a result of the travel aspect for his grandparents.
A good article by Sam, but I still don't have any more idea where he will go than I did before I read it, which is to say, none. He'd certainly be a welcome addition though. Maybe Lawrence Marshall can break the tie in our favor ?

Over on ESPN, it looks like their bowl projections were updated, as there is no mention of Texas. Brad Edwards has Michigan playing against Clemson in the Orange Bowl, and Mark Schlabach has Michigan playing Stanford in the Rose Bowl. That must kill Schlabach, as he lives to hate Michigan . . . .

|2 years 13 hours ago||true, but||
You didn't expect him to come right out and say that Urban is a duck, do you? This is a family friendly blog . . .
|2 years 5 days ago||dont know if this counts||
I am going to go with Jake Butt. I think that the Darboh injury leaves us needing a large pass catcher, and Butt fits the bill. I think that Funchess is also going to get plenty of balls thrown his way, but out of his usual flex TE position. I think that Butt will play a bit out of position and go into the part of the field where we would have seen Darboh. It gives us another large target, but doesn't require him to do anything special with pass protection.
Also, Mario Ojemudia has been flying under the radar. While we weren't looking, he hit the buffets and got up to 250. I won't be surprised if he sneaks into the games in the second half. If he's playing opposite Frank Clark, he may be overlooked by blockers focusing on Clark, and get some good pressures. Whether the sack goes to Clark or Ojemudia, I think he may make some good contributions to the four man rush that Mattison is looking for.
|2 years 1 week ago||good article||
Although I think he might have been a tad bit off in his assumptions of who will play a few line spots, I thought that it was a really well written and well reasoned article. It's hard for me to find a significant point in there that I disagree with.
If we do have to lose two games though, I'd prefer that we lose to Nebraska and Northwestern as opposed to the Domers, Sparty, or Ohio . . . . (duh)

I'm 42. I don't know that I would personally overreact to what an internet mob has to say, but again, let's think back to the Kyle Kalis situation. I don't know if the internet nonsense was a factor in his decision making, but I do know that there is no way it helped OSU in the matter.
|2 years 24 weeks ago||good thinking||
Smart move by the mods to act on this. They don't need Drake or his family to see him being smeared online because some unruly fans think that is the way to react when a HS athlete does not appear committed to their program any more. It didn't win Kyle Kalis back to OSU, and it is unlikely to win Drake Harris to MSU. Their best move is to be gracious as he completes the recruiting process. It is far from over for him.
|2 years 24 weeks ago||don't know then||
That was my best guess as to why dad would say that Drake is still committed to MSU. If he is not an MSU backer, I'm out of ideas. It would certainly appear that Drake is, if not a UM lean, not an MSU commit either. Strange situation, to say the least . . .
|2 years 24 weeks ago||one of those things||
Maybe dad is sold on MSU, but Drake is feeling UM a bit more. Parents and kids aren't always going to go in the same direction on these things. Let's hope Mr. Harris also gets won over to the good side . . .
|2 years 24 weeks ago||maybe not||
"They wish they recruited Canada" - Nik Stauskas
|2 years 24 weeks ago||that's the debate||
You've pretty much nailed some of the points that people will be debating. I am going to be a homer and say give it to Burke, and I am basing it on his consistency - 15 points or more in every B1G game.
I can understand giving it to the best player on the nation's best team (when you look at the season as a whole), but the award is for the best player, regardless of team. Adding on to the Burke resume is what he has done for his team in terms of keeping a pretty good but not extraordinary team in the top 10 for the whole year, up to this point.
All of that being said, I have no idea who gets the award. Probably going to be a close vote.

We already have another 6'9 on board, in D Ward. We just need our final piece of the puzzle. Morris is now our punter, due to the Hagerup issue. He won't use his foot though. He's just going to throw it 60 yards if necessary, which it won't be. (see aforementioned linemen)

First Skipper, then Orlando Bown (all 6'10 of him too). We move LTT to center. Then, the former tackles move to TE and the guards move to FB and RB (when Hurst isn't there). A big tip of the hat, both for your idea and taking the time to execute it. Count me among those people who've often thought that offers were a better barometer than stars.
While we all know that certain schools have a good history at certain positions, I think it is fair to say that most of us have a school or two whose opinions we respect in general. I'm always happy (JMO) to snag anyone high on LSU's hit parade. And of course, Wisconsin and Penn State for linemen and the blue collar positions, USC for the skill positions.

I take exception with the OP's entire premise. Baby seals rarely go out clubbing. In fact, they are quite studious and generally opt for the library and avoid the club scene altogether.
|2 years 50 weeks ago||possibly||
Maybe few people have chosen to follow ND as a religious matter, i.e., because they are Catholic, however , numerous people who attend a Catholic school for grade school or high school do follow ND as their de facto representative in the university ranks. In footbal it is them or BC, whereas in basketball, there are several more good Catholic university programs, such as Georgetown, Marquette, and Providence College.
I went to a Catholic HS myself, and ten percent of my graduating class went to Georgetown and ten percent went to Boston College, so I can definitely say that the whole Catholic education thing can last throughout the years for some people.
|2 years 50 weeks ago||thanks as always||
Also, better be ready to adjust the TE spots - Funchess isn't going to stay far down for long !
|2 years 50 weeks ago||not exactly like switching to the 3-3-5||
The reason you see so few teams switch to a 3-3-5 in the middle of the season is mostly because they don't have the stuffed beaver which is necessary to the implementation of said defense.
Well, that and because it bites.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||problem though||
When Fitz got his few carries, you can't even say that the o-line didn't get push. He was actually getting contact before he even got to the line of scrimmage. Something was really off today, and we just need to figure out what the problem is before ND. It isn't like the individual players aren't good, but for some reason, the whole was much less than the sum of the parts today . . .

|2 years 51 weeks ago||Second half Funchess sightings ?||
Funchess rang up a hundred yards of receptions in the blink of an eye, and then in the second half, I did not see his number called once. Strange indeed. Does anyone know a site that gives a breakdown of where the throws went each quarter?
Also, it seems like we are seeing a sort of feeling out process in front of our eyes. Several, really.
On offense, the WR corps is definitely a work in progress. It looks as if Borges is finding some tall targets. Gardner seems to be on the verge of figuring out how to be a major college receiver, and also some of the other taller targets are getting looks. It would seem that Funchess is also about to wrap up the pass catching TE position.
On defense, the LB positions are open ended as well. Bolden doesn't look like he is going to give up the starting spot, and James Ross may not either. I don't know that the secondary has the same feel to me. There are some shifts going on, but that is due to injury and not choice. Optimus Pee Wee Prime also is starting to get his feet wet and may be one to watch.
On special teams, Norfleet looks special. Not Special K, not special ed. Like Special Forces kind of special. I may need to look up our KR and PR return records, because Norfleet might be writing his name in there if he plays that role for all four years.
Question for other boardies - do you want to see what Norfleet can do at RB? I'm not sure it matters who takes the ball if they are going to get met in the backfield. I might just sit tight on the RB situation and see what we can do in order to address the OL. I have no idea how a line anchored by the great donkey hater can be struggling so much.
Other question - did anyone else breathe a sigh of relief when the clock ran out and we had all of our d-line healthy? That cut blocking that Air Force does is serious weaselball. Major cheap stuff. I was always thinking that BWC or someone was going to tear an ACL at any minute. That can't be easy on a big guy.
|2 years 51 weeks ago||thanks for the info||
It's great for those of us who are out of the area to get the inside dirt when you make it to the games, so good job giving us a sneak preview of some players that we will definitely see, and a few more who I hope to . . . .
|2 years 51 weeks ago||Fear not, grasshopper||
For THE KNOWLEDGE has already addressed our fears, and he has announced that we will only lose one more game. Crisis averted. Nothing more to see here. We have nothing to fear but fear itself . . .
|2 years 51 weeks ago||ummmm||
I'm not always so quick on the uptake, but aren't those quotes from Joe Stapleton a little unusual, in that they are dated in the future, or is that just what reporters do these days?
|2 years 51 weeks ago||no huddle||
Given that they just lost their center, I'm thinking that some elements of their offense, such as the no-huddle, may be out of their play book for the time being. Have to wait and see on that, I guess . . .
|2 years 51 weeks ago||much thanks||
Just the ticket. You kids these days, with your search function . . . I'll have to give this a look. . .

But couldn't Crean at least have given the kid a job at Schrute Beet Farms ? ? ?

|3 years 1 week ago||gotta love Ace Williams||
Gotta love Ace Williams. If the guy didn't already exist, I'd have had to make him up . . . .
|3 years 1 week ago||I dunno||
I heard we were keeping that spot open for Bri'Onte Dunn . . . .
|3 years 1 week ago||they keep adding up||
Is it just me, or does it seem like there is an Angry Everywhere DB Hating God this offseason? ND isn't even the only one of our first few opponents to lose a DB. Alabama is down one or two. That's not even considering Honey Badger weirdness . . . .
|3 years 1 week ago||well done||
Great job, really an outstanding read. Plenty for all of us to ruminate upon as we while away these two final weeks . . . .

He went there !
Oh no he didn't !
Oh yes he did . . . .
|3 years 10 weeks ago||I'm interested||
Tell me, how did you do this? Game film or measurables, offer sheets? What criteria did you use? Always interesting to me how a player might be rated highly by one service, but less so by another.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||Maybe so, but||
Oregon pays their roster much more generously than Tampa Bay. Chip would be facing a significant drop in talent.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||good point||
Bill Clinton was prosecuted for lying to congress, not for getting a BJ. The rules apply to everyone, and the rules about lying to congress are clear. Roger Clemens is not somehow more important than the POTUS.
|3 years 10 weeks ago||that's the Michigan seal ?||
I thought the Michigan seal was a picture of Wallace the Wolverine - For FIIIIIJJJJJIIIIIIII ! ! !
|3 years 10 weeks ago||particularly him||
Throughout all of the rivalry, the kid (and his family) have been pure class. I really hope things work out for him. Maybe he can withdraw from the draft, play another year of college ball, and get a clear bill of health at the end. (but still lose both games to us)
|3 years 11 weeks ago||outstanding||
I'm not sure which is better, the cars or the unies. Both are pretty freaking inspired.
|3 years 11 weeks ago||endless possibilities really||
"Did an Ohio state trooper just ticket another of your players for whizzing in public ? ? ?" - Hoke to Urbs

I'll say that Fitz could turn some heads this year and make a postseason list or two. On the defensive side of the ball, I could see Jake Ryan or Blake Countess making some noise before all is said and done.
Anyone else want to take a shot and pick some of our players who could be moving up in the world?
|3 years 11 weeks ago||probably so||
But can you imagine being told to cover him as a TE? No thanks !
|3 years 11 weeks ago||amazing||
Really glad that he got in. The whole reason to have a university is for kids like him. Nobody in the entire school will be more appreciative of their experience.
|3 years 12 weeks ago||admission time||
Ok, I'll admit it. I'm drinking Hawaiian Punch with crappy vodka. (Yes, my wife left me unsupervised) But can I win respect back by telling you that the burger I made for dinner, with a center of melted cheese and green chile, was pretty good? Kinda like the one that they used to make at the Speedboat Grill, for you downriver Detroit folks . . . .
(maybe they still make it, but I don't get back to MI as often as I could)

Kudos, yet again, to BHGP. Funny without being disrespectful to the events that transpired.

Personally, I'm not horrified by the tree face thing so much as confused. No, really. I just am sitting here looking at it, and I still don't get it. I keep thinking that if I look again, it will somehow make sense to me, but no . . .
|3 years 12 weeks ago||agree with Dawggoblue||
For whatever reason, a lot of people just weren't ever on board with RR, and never would have come around.
Equally pivotal though, he just didn't pick the right defensive coordinator. If he had Mattison instead of Gerg, things could have worked out differently. i don't mean that as a defense of him though. The head coach must make successful hires, and RR did not do that. Compare and contrast with Hoke's staff, and it really isn't close. There is a lot more to being a head coach than the Xs and Os.

JimBob, if you're a knowledgable Buck sort, I'd be happy for you to fill me in. I think I remember the player's name, but I don't remember much else. Elucidate, if you will !
|3 years 12 weeks ago||I'll bite||
Doesn't seem like Poggi should shock Urbz that much. For that matter, Treadwell wouldn't be a shocker, just earlier than we thought. I guess Green would fit that bill, but could it be someone from out of left field ?
|3 years 12 weeks ago||not only that||
I thought he was a young black man . . . .
|3 years 12 weeks ago||cryptic is right||
It could be hinting about the impending commitment, but I don't think so. I think David just means that he thinks LT is a blue lean, and will eventually commit. But anyone's guess is as good as mine, that's for sure . . .
|3 years 12 weeks ago||take as you will||
JC Shurbutt is predicting Poggi to Michigan also. Mike Farrell and others all seem to agree that it is a two horse race between Michigan and Alabama. It isn't official until it's official, but that is some of the web scuttlebutt on the subject . . .
|3 years 12 weeks ago||good stuff||
Thanks for all the updates, people. Much appreciated.

I know I should never NEVER go down this road, but Michael Scarn, you're lookin like Ron Swanson . . .

And yes, I totally dig both characters . . . .

|3 years 12 weeks ago||just FWIW||
I was over at 247, looking at what they had to say about Maurice Hurst. One of the things that they have there is they show a player's most recent tweets. Maurice shot a couple of tweets at Anzalone today. Doubt it means much, but just one of those things that adds to the intrigue . . .
|3 years 12 weeks ago||what ?||
But, but, but Treadwell is not a color !
|3 years 12 weeks ago||most of us get it||
By and large, most of us here understand that you don't claim to be a recruiting pro or anything, but most of us here really do enjoy and appreciate your thoughts. Don't stop posting just because there are a few people that have a little more attitude than is necessary. They may be noisy, but they are a minority. Your contributions here are well appreciated, and I am always interested to read them.
|3 years 12 weeks ago||followup question||
I can cleverly deduce from your post that Derrick Green has already visited M. Do you know anything about how that went or how many times he has been here? Could his prior visitation have been enough to win him over?
|3 years 12 weeks ago||kind of||
Recruiting fever had started to kick in when Troy Smith committed to Ohio, but he wasn't the big deal QB recruit for his class. That was Justin Zwick, who was very hyped and certainly was a draw for some of the other offensive skill recruits in his class. Somehow Troy Smith was able to win the job over Zwick, despite the hype. We all know how that turned out. Recruiting isn't the most exact of sciences, I guess . . . .
|3 years 12 weeks ago||writes a little for a blog||
She does some stuff for Hoke's Mad Magicians, another M recruiting blog. Some of the recruits do talk to her, and there is no reason to think she might not have heard something. Several recruits have said that they liked talking to her. She seems to respect their wishes and all of that, so she might have gotten some inside info that she has to sit on for a day or so until the announcement is made.
|3 years 12 weeks ago||makes sense||
but couldn't it be Wilkins himself in that case ?
|3 years 12 weeks ago||there you go||
I was sitting around wondering exactly that. Some recruits stay in touch with Steve and some don't. It seems reasonable to assume that the (possible) commit is one of the guys that talks to Steve. If Derrick Green is one of the people that does talk to him, he seems to be a better bet than a prospect that has never made contact with Steve and his crowd.
Are there any other hot prospects that we know talk to Steve much?
|3 years 12 weeks ago||tough reading these tea leaves||
We can assume that it is someone that OSU has serious interest in, of course, and someone who is well known to both fan bases.
Is Poggi high on the OSU radar? He makes a lot of sense because we just took a DT and he could get crowded out by Hardreck Walker.
LT doesn't make quite as much sense because he knows that his offer will stay open, and he did apparently get some things to think about from his Illinois visit.
Didn't Derrick Green say recently that he would like to visit UM twice more this summer? Has he visited yet?
Kendall Fuller is a wild card to me. I know the VaTech connections, but he has been keeping in touch with our guys.
Ok, I admit it, I'm pretty much baffled, but I do think it is a 2013 guy, and one who is well known at that, but that sure doesn't seem to narrow it. Can anyone chime in with who is a big want for Ohio? I just don't follow their stuff that closely unless it will come down to us and them for a given player . . .
|3 years 14 weeks ago||yep||
If it were the other way around, the butterflies would try to save you . . .
|3 years 14 weeks ago||fair enough||
But I heard that they are providing Segway scooters to players on the premise that they need them to get to class ! ;-)
|3 years 15 weeks ago||ummmmm||
Well, let's see. He coached for the Raiders. I think they are semi-pro or something. He also coached for U-Tennessee, which is in which conference again? That's right. Lane Kiffin isn't preferable to the SEC, he comes straight from the SEC. (Where he set a standard for sucking at a once-excellent program. Feel free to make your own Derek Dooley comments.)
|3 years 15 weeks ago||history says . . .||
Sadly, this history did not go our way, but let's look at Levenberry. He visited back and forth, but we all know the last two visits. First he took the long FSU visit, and then he took shorter but good visit to UM. We all know the result, UM got the last visit, but FSU got the commit.
I'm not bringing this up to further traumatize our readership, but just to make a point. The last visit does not necessarily equate to a commitment. I'm not saying that I have any insight into where he will go, only that it isn't a given that taking his last visit to USC means that he is going to USC. It's not over until it's over . . .
|3 years 15 weeks ago||sooooo||
Has anyone gotten to read the article (paywall)? They say he talks about his three leaders (UM, USC, ND). Might offer some insight. I have heard that ND has been out of the running for a while, but you never know with them.
|3 years 15 weeks ago||agreed||
I am wondering how many of the Novak supporting yet Horton non-supporters were actually around as Michigan fans when Horton was playing. The idea that Novak or whoever led Michigan out of the dark is pretty far off base. That Horton was able to keep us somewhat relevant at the time we were feeling the worst of the Fab 5 blowback is a huge testament to him. He was surrounded by low caliber talent, and willed us to win some tough games.
Also, the numbers don't lie. Take a look at the top ten leaders in Michigan PG history and see how often Horton's name comes up. Do it based on impact and context or do it on numbers, but any way you look at it, Horton tops the BB list in MGoBlog times. Until Trey Burke takes his place, of course . . .
|3 years 15 weeks ago||I can imagine||
The people there really seemed like they were having fun. Which definitely rubs off on to the people taking the tour. Really though, when I saw the actor-tour guides, it just looked like they were having a blast.
|3 years 15 weeks ago||nice||
I did take the tour of Beechwood. I didn't even want to say, in case you worked at a different one, but Beechwood is far and away the best of the tours that I went on. I definitely remember that was the one with the good acting, as opposed to the regular boring tour guides. If I was going to recommend one mansion to tour, that would be it. I kind of got the feeling that all of the people involved were aspiring actors. Or at least were working their acting mojo when on the job . . .
|3 years 15 weeks ago||doesn't matter||
As our resident softball poster, MGoSoftball gets a free pass from me to post all things softball related. The double post therefore does not count . . .
|3 years 15 weeks ago||sounds like fun||
Which one did you work at? For a little bit I lived in walking distance of the Cliffwalk and all that. I didn't take all the tours, but I took a few. Some were better than others, really. More showmanship, I guess. . . .
|3 years 15 weeks ago||question for the more cognizant||
I know that we won the Big Ten, and I also know that we stumbled a little more than usual this year. How do our postseason chances look? Are we heating up at the right time possibly?
|3 years 15 weeks ago||actually||
Funny thing about Buddy Cianci is that he stepped down as mayor TWICE. The first time he stepped down was for assault. He found a guy getting it on with his ex-wife and beat the hell out of him. Providence being what it is, he ran again and won again. This time he got pinched for racketeering. I guess it was tough for him to serve as mayor as he served time in the pokey, so that was the last he served as mayor . . . so far.
I'm not correcting the story to be a know-it-all. I just find it funny. As someone who went to high school in Rhode Island, I've always been amused by the thought that Buddy Cianci really and truly was the most appropriate mayor that Providence could have had.
PS to Dinsdale - I went to HS on the island, just a stone's throw from Newport. Haven't gone back since my teens. Don't miss it. Newport, I mean. Providence is way more interesting. Good Italian food, anyway . . .
PPS - The Rhode Island accent makes those Jersey Shore people sound like Oxford dons . . .
|3 years 16 weeks ago||Tremendous!||
I really think that Caris is a terrific fit for us. His outside shot should match up nicely with Mitch inside and Trey's dribble penetration. I'm thinking he really makes the D pay when they collapse to the inside, which they will pretty much have to do if they don't want to get dunked on.
BTW - if you go to Scout and look at our recruting class, they have Nick Stauskas listed twice. The neat thing is that one Nick is a three star and the other is a four star. Guess it depends if his shot is falling that day . . .
|3 years 16 weeks ago||no worries||
If you go take a look on the other thread on the NFTC, you'll see that McCray got the LB MVP for the event. Also, as you probably see above, Taco did get an invite to The Opening, so I think we did pretty well for awards. 247 is kind of a newbie site, to put it politely . . . .
|3 years 16 weeks ago||shocking things can happen||
Most "reasonable" M fans weren't honestly expecting 11 wins last year, but strange things happen. Also, you never know who will show up at the right time. Last year, after Posey had all that time off, I really didn't expect him to light us up. I knew he was a good player, but I just figured that he'd have too much rust and not enough chemistry. He really gave us headaches though. I'm also interested in seeing how PSU bounces back from the events of their offseason. Things like that can be distracting, but they can also lead to that "us against the world" team unity that can make a team tough. And then Wiscy with another "rented" QB should make another interesting Big Ten season . . . .
|3 years 16 weeks ago||most of us get it||
On 247 Sports, UM and MSU "share" a thread. I don't check too often, but it is about 40% discussion and 60% flaming typically, and not all of it can be blamed on Sparty. Some people would rather sling mud than discuss and learn.
So, what are you all thinking for your 2012? Predicting 8 wins, but hoping for 9? I know that Braxton wasn't the height of accuracy last year, but he was a devil to bring down. I honestly didn't see a huge dropoff from him to Pryor, and he can only get better . . .
|3 years 16 weeks ago||meh||
Curse them and their heliocentric views as well !
|3 years 16 weeks ago||don't call me Shirley !||
Sorry, but your translation just gave me a major flashback to the movie "Airplane"
|3 years 16 weeks ago||tremendous indeed!||
Strong weekend for Shane, and Dawson is really kicking butt lately. DD is starting to show some attitude, too. Love the way he protected the dummy with the M hat when they said it was Denard. Heck of a camp all around, and I'm glad to see Khalid Hill feeling heatlhy and getting to play.
Also, is anyone else kind of stunned by the presence that we are going to have at the UnderArmour AA Game? It is really going to make a statement. Also, on the off chance that we are still looking at any uncommitted recruits who are playing there, I have to think that they will be impressed.
|3 years 17 weeks ago||yep||
He joins Steve Schilling and Jonas Mouton from the last draft. Interesting to think that Molk and Schilling could line up next to each other. The Chargers are really struggling to find five healthy bodies to put on the line. Their chances of playing are as good as anyone's, right now.
|3 years 18 weeks ago||hard to say||
Sour grapes aside, we have seven open scholarships and we have taken six excellent LBs in the last two classes. I'm not sure that I'd prefer to use one of those seven spots on a position that has been well addressed. I'd rather go with DTs and WRs if I had my choice. However, whatever the staff thinks is more likely to be correct, of course.
At any rate, he seems to be a fine young man, and I wish him the best at FSU. If football doesn't work out, he can always use that Criminal Justice degree and follow in his dad's footsteps, making the community a safer place.
|3 years 18 weeks ago||why not||
An OT board makes sense to me. On the other hand, I am not one of the posters who feels the need to spend twenty minutes writing about how clicking on an OT thread cost them 15 seconds, so I am fine with the present system.
Then again, I don't feel the need to draw attention to every minor grammar error that another poster makes, so maybe I am just too soft on important issues . . .

|3 years 19 weeks ago||that is the interesting thing||
FSU got the long visit, but the commit is coming right after Mrs. Levenberry visited. Which one should we give more weight to ?
|3 years 19 weeks ago||surprise ending||
Levenberry goes to FSU, and in a shocker, Michael Hutchings commits to M, never having been to the midwest.
This starts the Cali stampede, where Joe Mathis and S'ua Cravens join up with Eddie Vanderdoes to make a strong Cali force for M . . .
|3 years 19 weeks ago||but the tweets . . .||
In his last tweet, Farrell indicates that he does not know. He says that Michigan made up ground, but he thinks FSU in a squeaker . . .
Make of that what you will

Truly an excellent book for anyone, but especially football fans.
And no, I have never seen the tv show, so that does not somehow give me a bias either way.
Be interesting to see what happened to them all later in life.

I like the Trey Burke 6-1. Using that scale, I'm almost 6 ft too !
|3 years 19 weeks ago||wow||
Terrible. Hope he has a full recovery and gets to take part in the Sept game. It would suck to miss out on one of the more exciting games that your team takes part in. That, and the whole getting shot thing . . .

Love and prayers to the Dawson family at this time. This is something that such a young man should not have to deal with. Best wishes to the entire family.

As a knowledgeable Buck sort, have you also noticed a shift in the type of personnel that Urban is going after? I don't expect it to be the monster shift we had going from Carr to Rodriguez to Hoke, but does it seem like he wants a different style of player?
FWIW - Urban missing on a few Ohio guys might not be the disaster that we Wolverines wish it to be. It strikes me that he has awfully good recruiting connections outside of Ohio. I'll be interested to see how this all plays out . . .
|3 years 20 weeks ago||course||
I knew it was a double post - totally teasing . . .
