Gosh, MLive is still around and a few people are actually reading what remains? Who knew? |
34 weeks 4 days ago | Ann Arbor Wedding |
We did, but arranged for the ceremony to be held in Ann Arbor a few hours after the game ended. Of course, that was back when all games kicked off at 1:00 p.m. and you could actually make plans months in advance. |

Perhaps if you had attended The University of Michgan you would understand that football and athletics in general are just a relatively minor part of what makes this school the greatest university in the world. |

Doc Losh would be thrilled. Hint: Google Dr. Hazel Losh, kids. |
1 year 30 weeks ago | You're not old! |
Speaking for myself, LSA '68, season ticket holder since my freshman year in 1964. I'm the guy that stands at the last home game of the season when Carl asks if there are any 50+ year ticket holders in the House. And yes, I stand for a good portion of the rest of the games as well. Still miss Whiskey and Brandy at halftime. Google it, kids. |

2 years 19 weeks ago | Bahamas Bowl 2015 |
Western Michigan will probably lose at least $500,000 to go to the Bahamas Bowl on December 24. About 70% of the $25M athletic budget at WMU is already subsidized from the general fund. Very few of their fans will make the expensive trek, even if they have passports. Lots of heads are being scratched in Kalamazoo, particularly within other departments at the university who are being told to tighten their belts as tuition, fees and room and board costs continue to rise. |

2 years 24 weeks ago | Tributes are great--but |
These tributes are richly deserved and much appreciated but let's remember that veterans need and deserve much more of substance than flyovers, songs, words and standing ovations. Rates of unemployment, poverty, homelessness, hunger, mental illness, physical disability, divorce, suicide, etc, are far too high among those who have served our country so nobly and unselfishly. Access to help, particularly medical care through the VA system, is inadequate. Lobby your elected representatives, donate to charities serving vets, get involved yourself. As John F. Kennedy said so aptly, “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” |

Those "idiots " will learn as soon as readers begin to ignore obvious click bait headlines. |
2 years 25 weeks ago | Right in front of us in Section 4 |
Lawrence Reid intentionally fumbled the ball out of bounds to stop the clock and set up the winning play. That's what infuriated Corso since it was perfectly legal at the time. |
2 years 25 weeks ago | Hello Simeon Smith! |
MLive reports (I know, I know) that Kalamazoo Loy Norrix wide receiver 6'6" Simeon Smith has accepted a preferred walk on offer from Michigan. He carries a 4.4 GPA and is taking AP Physics and AP Calculus in preparation for engineering studies. |

2 years 27 weeks ago | I said "most effective" |
No question Mesko had the stronger leg, but any team, college or pro, would rather have the ball inside the 10 than watch it soar through the end zone and come out to the 20. |
2 years 27 weeks ago | I've been watching football |
I've been watching football at the Big House since my freshman year in1964 and Blake is by far and away the most effective punter we have ever had in terms of game strategy. The only unfortunate thing is that we will only be able to appreciate his unique talents for only one year. Hold your head up, young man, we're proud to claim you a a Wolverine. 2 years 37 weeks ago | October 30, 1971 |
We were living on the east side of Detroit in 1971 when we scheduled our wedding for Saturday, October 30--Homecoming against Indiana. No problem. We reserved the beautiful chapel of Concordia (then) College on Geddes Road for a 7:00 p.m. ceremony. Kickoffs then were all at 1:00 so we had more than enough time to change clothes and make it to the church for our own personal kickoff. Spent the night at the Holiday Inn in Windsor on the river with a balcony view of the Detroit skyline. Oh yes, Bo and the boys thoroughly thrashed the Hoosiers 61-7 (that lone tochdown being the only disaapointment of the day) and we will celebrate our 44th anniversary this year.

That would have been first Whiskey in 1968 and then a couple of years later joined by her daughter Brandy (not to be confused with a certain former lineman). |

Annie Green Springs was popular also. |
3 years 1 day ago | It's Meaningless |
Since most of our home games kickoff off at 3:30 and the lights are usually turned on at some point nearly every game could be called UTL. |
3 years 13 weeks ago | Free Sam Webb? |
Didn't know he had been captured. |
3 years 21 weeks ago | Emulsification |
Big word, I know, but I did graduate from THE University of Michigan. At 190-195 the fat will emulsify and permeate the meat. Result: very moist and tender. Same process if you smoke a brisket. The grill temperature is low enough to prevent the meat from being overdone.

Anyone else present in the Big House for all 10? My favorite has to be the AC touchdown in 1979 because it happened right in front of us in section 4. |

3 years 40 weeks ago | Turn 2 Foundation |
I was disappointed that no one mentioned Derek's Turn 2 Foundation and all the great work it does with kids. Far too few superstars give back to their communities like Jeter has. He will retire but the foundation he created will continue to make this world a little better place to live. |
