My money is still on Dabo …

My money is still on Dabo (former bama WR) if he has a few more good but not great years without Venables and an elite QB. I think he’s maxed out Clemson and would jump

Graham Mertz looked like a future he is man winner a few years ago for what it’s worth

I'm tired of seeing some of…

I'm tired of seeing some of these MLS shitters like Long, Morris, Yedlin, and Areola continue to get call-ups for no reason. They aren't even playing well for their MLS teams.

And I'm not "anti-MLS", its just a fact that the MLS is roughly the 15th best league in the world and the average player playing in Europe will be playing at a significantly higher level.

Even if Gregg wants to bring MLS players, why not bring Miazga over Long, Mihailovic over Morris (dont care if they are different positions, Morris post-ACL surgery brings you absolutely nothing to the team). You know, players actually playing well in the MLS.

Also, since Sargent plays half the time on the wing, why not bring him and pefok (in place of Areola), and count Sargent as a winger?

I know I shouldn’t be, but I…

I know I shouldn’t be, but I’m pleasantly surprised by those numbers. I had a suspicion that Aiden would be one of those players that wouldn’t test as well as he played.

I remember his recruiting profile mentioning  long speed and athleticism as his one knock, and I do remember a few times where he seemed a bit slow in open space. Not that relevant when his initial burst is that good, but the 4.75 40 and 3 cone drill are particularly surprising. Aidan truly was one of the most talented players we’ve had in a long time.

Conversely, I’m surprised he didn’t do the bench press, as I think he would have crushed it. I remember the viral video of him doing a Turkish getup with 135lbs and no clips on the bar which is nuts. Add to it the fact he played NT effectively at times as a sophomore, that play where he knocked the osu tackle on his ass, and his generally bull rush, I would think his strength is off the charts. Maybe it’s a long arm thing.

Realistically? 3-4 of those…

Realistically? 3-4 of those. The "haha, MSU is going to regress to the mean next year" trope has become so boring.

They were a good team this year and the while Berger is no KW3, they will be a tough out next year. The only sure L on that list is OSU. Wisconsin is also a likely L for them. We would be beyond stupid to pencil the Michigan game in as a win after the past 10+ years. PSU and Minny are extremely beatable. Washington is terrible.

Meant to post this before…

Meant to post this before MSU walked down the field in 3 plays but if I lived in Michigan I’d be putting a cheeky 100 on the live MSU money line. This team has a horseshoe up their ask and I bet they pull it out

Please shut up. We just lost…

Please shut up. We just lost to fucking Michigan State, who has essentially owned us under Harbaugh. Go look up their recruiting classes on 247 and then come back and tell me our problem is recruiting and not getting the players we want. It is the dumbest mindless excuse to blame admissions when we consistently get top 10 recruiting classes. Also players like Xavier worthy didn’t flip away from Michigan because of “admissions”, and if you can’t read between the lines I feel sorry for you.

Moody was always better than Nordin IMO. Glad he’s finally getting his turn to shine. Also he’s listed at 6’1 211, so I don’t think power is going to be a problem

Why the fuck is the crowd making so much noise when we’re on offense? Sometimes I think we have the dumbest fans

While he surely wasn't the first person in history to be named "Jalen", he certainly has a case in his influence on the popularity of the name:

As a reminder, his freshman year was in 1991.

Here's my power rank for every 5* RB for Michigan since the 2008 class off the top of my head (not sure who I'm missing):

Ty Isaac

Zach Charbonnet

Sam McGuffie

Derrick Green

Kareem Walker

Not a great track record there

Clearly a troll post. I…

Clearly a troll post. I doubt “your doctor” said that, and if they did, they’re saying that on no basis whatsoever. No healthy people should get the vaccine? Ok I guess we’ll just keep spreading it around until it mutates into something new and prolongs the healthy crisis we’re in.

Please cite any source you have that gives rationale as to why “healthy people should never get the COVID vaccine”. I’ll wait.

Considering MSU was able to…

Considering MSU was able to get one of their top choices after he said no and got a raise from his previous school, I’m pretty sure Michigan could afford to do it.

The US is really missing…

The US is really missing Pulisic, and to a lesser extent Sargent, in their attacking third. I was impressed in the game against Wales particularly with the midfield and backline in winning and holding possession. There is definitely a lot of promise, but not a lot of proven goal scoring options. I'm a little surprised that Aron Johannsson didn't get a call up to this camp given his recent form and the lack of attacking options, but he doesn't figure to be in the plan much going forward. Even Bobby Wood would give you something that I'm not confident Weah, Gioacchini, or LLanez can give you.

The only place I'd debate that lineup would be moving Dest back to RB and keeping Robinson in. I know Cannon is a promising player right now but Dest is too good to play him outside of his preferred position. The drop off between Cannon and Robinson is small enough that I'd let Dest stay on the right, crossing it into the box on his preferred foot.

The last thing I'll say is I was particularly impressed with Mckennie and Dest against Wales. I think there's something about playing with and practicing with one of the best clubs in the world day-in day-out that builds a players confidence. I saw McKennie taking players on and performing skill moves that I never saw him attempt in my (admittedly limited) time watching him play at Schalke in addition to his signature box-to-box ball winning runs.

On a related note, I wonder if Brian would consider making more USMNT content going forward, given the state of our football program. I enjoyed the last writeup he did of the player pool post-2018 qualifying debacle.

Why would he come here?…

Why would he come here? Lateral move at best. This is 2020, not 1980.

Living in North Carolina,…

Living in North Carolina, people here will often refer to where they went to school as "Chapel Hill" if they went to the school we know as UNC. I think it's because the other schools in the system (Charlotte, Asheville, Greensboro, Wilmington) are more prevalent and popular than are UM-Flint and UM-Dearborn.

The more you know

I'm so tired of people…

I'm so tired of people spreading misinformation online based on word of mouth and interpreting it as fact. I don't care if it came from your doctor, why would you blindly pass something you heard from one source and didn't fact check as fact? The numbers you presented aren't even remotely accurate and take 2 seconds of time to fact check for yourself:

Depth guys? Horrendously bad take.

How would that work with…

How would that work with scholarship limits? Are schools with 5 seniors on the team this year going to field a 20 person team next year? If not, that will force a lot of players to transfer or recruits to reopen their recruitment and sign with different schools. It seems it would reward teams who did a poor job recruiting or managing their rosters that have a bunch of open spaces.

This team is awful…

This team is awful defensively, that’s coaching moron

See paragraph #3 above. Are you surprised that a team without Charles Mathews and now Livers is worse on defense? How dare Howard not petition the NCAA to get Mathews back on the roster. He sucks at coaching. Also, not sure 47 in Kenpom AdjD is "awful".

How many draftable players are on this roster? I count exactly 1 with Livers, so its not surprise that this team is regressing from last years team, which had 3 players drafted. But enjoying being overly negative and pessimistic for no reason over a first year coach who inherited a team with less NBA talent than the majority of the BIG.

Big ten home teams were 2-0 ATS tonight. I see no reason why it won’t continue with this idiotic officiating

You mean the coach that lost…

You mean the coach that lost 59-0 to penn state at home? Bad take.

I usually hate feelingsball…

I usually hate feelingsball takes because they are inherently very subjective, generally emotional, and fact devoid hot takes. But this quote confirms what I was saying during the game. We literally have more talent than Wisconsin at every single position except running back (Oline is a toss-up). A noon game at Camp Randall, while not a walk in the park, is not even remotely close to a ~30 point swing

So what you’re left with is play calling and “execution”. Play calling was obviously not great, but there were good plays early that either were or should’ve been big plays to Ronnie Bell. And then we fumbled, and UW scored quickly and it deflated the entire team. I don’t believe Wisconsin is truly 35+ points better than us, as they were late into the 3rd. But once we got down about 14, it just snowballed. Defense wasn’t as sharp, dline didn’t get as much push, balls were dropped or overthrown, and the oline was slow to react. None of this was indicative of the talent of the players, and honestly only a moderate amount can be attributed to play calling.

My point in all of this is, I’ve seen so many times in the past 5 years Michigan getting punched in the mouth and not fighting back. Just this week, an 0-3 UCLA just came back from a 32 point deficit late in the 3rd on the road against a ranked team. Notre dame was down 20-10 late against UGA on the road, and was a pass or two away from winning. I see other teams respond to “adversity” every damn week in a way that I don’t see Michigan ever do. I see players give up and put auto pilot on and go through the motions. And that’s on the coach. And I hate using all of these cliches but it’s true. Something is missing from an intangibles perspective. We never have that killer mentality, and honestly at the college level, that matters every bit as much as talent. I wish I knew the answer.

Watching Wesson and Ward…

Watching Wesson and Ward fight on the low block on both ends of the court ever possession is really something.... I feel like I’m watching a different era of basketball.

We want to prevent unc’s transitions buckets. Colby White is faaaaast.

I’m really liking Teske…

I’m really liking Teske matching up on Maye. Maye is a stretch 5 that can shoot, but he’s not very athletic/quick and has short limbs. Teske’s length is really bothering him and he’s also quick enough to close out on Maye. Also not allowing Maye to body him up in the post

Anyone know the status on…

Anyone know the status on metellus? Hawkins has been out there the whole game and I saw metellus on the side lines with a coat. Also any idea on the hill injury? He walked to the locker room on his own so it’s got to be an upper body injury, but I didn’t see what caused it.

Wisconsin is currently outgaining Nebraska by a whopping 20 yards in the fourth quarter. You may be right, but I’m not overly impressed.

On the bright side, no…

On the bright side, no phantom targeting call on Hudson this week. So at least the impact of awful officiating is being contained within the game where it occurs this time.

Ohio State -3.5 (-105) @ Penn ST

Michigan @ Northwestern +14.5 (-110) (only to hedge my bets/rooting interests)

Florida ST @ Louisville +7 (-120)

Purdue -3.5 (-105) @ Nebraska

Indiana -16.5 (-110) @ Rutger

Syracuse +25 (-110) @ Clemson Tigers

I typically only bet on things I know well (I.e. the Big Ten). I’m wary of the Hawaii line because every time the hive mind thinks it’s free money, it’s not. I’m going to go with the “Vegas knows something” and stay away from that lind.
