of the last dozen years have been bad. Really, really bad. Like, Detroit Lions bad. Just not for nearly as long, though, as the Lions. It'll take at least another 40 years of bad to match where the Lions have been, and, unfortunately, the Lions by then will have been bad for 95 years.
To put it into proper perspective for the younger MGoBloggers: TheDetroit Lions have won 1 NFL Championship in my lifetime, back in 1957 when I was just over a year old. The Raiders didn't even exist then, but have been to 5 Super Bowls since '67, winning 3 of them. The Raiders from the '65 thru '85 had ONE losing season over those 21 seasons. They were as competetive over that stretch, even dominant over most of that stretch, as any team in all of football. Meanwhile, the Lions continue to be the Lions.
So go ahead, mock the Raiders all you want. But it wasn't that many years ago that they were every bit the dynasty that the Patriots have been since Belichick found Tom Brady.

I guess, though, I should admit right now to MGoBlogdom:
I've always been a Butt man.
|9 hours 24 min ago||Interesting study, Mr. Mathlete.||
I think your data and conclusions do a good job of supporting the way Coach Hoke has gone about rebuilding the Michigan Team on both sides of the ball, which is the time-tested method of building from the interior on out. In other words, make sure you concentrate first on rebuilding/strengthing the offensive and defensive lines and then gradually shift the focus to one of bringing in the skill players. Sure, that sounds a little over-simplified, but skill position players, whether they're 3*, 4*, or 5*, only can perform consistantly well if they have a strong, cohesive unit doing the job in front of them.
Obviously there are other variables that come into play along the way, the most important of which is coaching, but also includes a large dose of avoiding devastating injuries, a favorable home vs. road schedule, and some amount of good luck, among other things.
We're all painfully aware of how things don't work well without those basic building blocks being in place on the offensive and defensive lines; now we need to see the fruits of a few years of successful recruiting ripen into a top level unit on both sides of the ball. If we can get and stay healthy there, the more recent recruits in the skill positions will have a much better chance of also being successful, and that, in turn, will translate to more wins.

And as I just got done re-watching it, I REALIZE JUST HOW MUCH I HATE LOUSIVILLE (especially Pitino, but also Hancock, Siva, and the rest of that team. HATE HATE HATE!
...and that's not even considering all the many bad calls.

immediately followed that of "Hail2thevict0rs", in which he talked of the big potholes he hit today, I was really expecting (and kinda hoping for) an in-depth report from you on the location and depth of all the potholes. Instead, all we get is a football depth chart.

vs. Syracuse is so much fun to watch. I hope we draw them again at some point in the 2014 tournament.
BTW, isn't that great backwards collapse by the Orange mascot coming up soon? Does anyone know where to find that gif?

he would be difficult to pull from the south, but no harm in giving it a shot.
I love the aggressive approach Nuss is taking in recruiting.

Chuck Hughes dying on the field at Tiger Stadium is an image I'll never forget, even though it happened over 42 years ago. It remains about the scariest thing I've ever seen during any game in any sport.

and plan on watching weekly (though I missed the first 15-20 minutes last night). But some of the graphics and animations used (for instance, the video-game quality of flying through the asteroid belt) along with a couple of sketchy explanations on the part of Tyson, left me wanting to scream at him,
"NOW WHO YOU JIVIN' WITH THAT COSMIK DEBRIS?!!"
And while he's no Carl Sagan, I think he still overall did a pretty good job, at least in episode one.

paragraph, but I will disagree with your assertion that Miles will leave Nebraska any time soon. They have a great new arena and fantastic practice facility and a motherload of $$$ flowing in to their athletic program. What's to not like there for Miles? Why chase a bigger contract elsewhere and the pressure cooker that comes with it when there's no pressure to win every year in Lincoln, just overwhelming joy when you do win there?
I'd be surprised... no, very surprised, to see him leave in anything less than 4 years.

that some day we're going to regret rooting for Nebraska. Just not yet, though.
But a coach by the name of Tim Miles might be in the process of creating a monster.
