|5 hours 32 min ago||And yet,||
if not for several costly errors and other mistakes by the Tigers pitchers, that 2006 team could have been World Champions.
I still feel, though, that the 2006 Tigers gave me one of, if not THE most rewarding seasons ever. It was so, SO very improbable that they would even contend that season, let alone be in the World Series. We've had 8 seasons of relative prosperity now in Detroit, but it had been well over 20 seasons since the Tigers had contended until that fantastic '06 season.
I like that the Tigers are in "win now!" mode. Sure wish we had a trustworthy bullpen.
And that text from Dombrowski to Beane? Pretty funny, but I'm sure it was mostly Dombrowski's way of telling Beane that he's "in it to win it" too!

Well, not in 'Murica!

game at Michigan that's one of my favorite non-rivalry games---the 1980 Michigan win over Purdue. The Boilers came into Ann Arbor undefeated in the Big Ten (and--- I think--- ranked in the top 10 nationally) and Mark Herrmann was being hyped as a Heisman Trophy candidate.
End result? A 26-0 Michigan victory. I had a hand in pulling down the goalpost in the south end zone after that one and helping drag one of the uprights nearly to the top of the southeast corner of the bleachers before stadium security stepped in and ruined our fun. Great times!
Purdue, as I recall, was a pretty damn good team during the Mark Herrmann days. Didn't they beat Michigan in West Lafayette in 1979? They also played Michigan in '78 with a chance at winning the Big Ten Title (Michigan won that game something like 22-6 and then beat OSU to win the conference with Purdue finishing 2nd).
Do you have the video of any of those 3 games in your collection?

on one of the news channels this week, I would think right now is a difficult time to open a brewery in California.
In a nutshell, the story said that the extreme drought is negatively affecting breweries and brewpubs in multiple ways, as tight water supplies (and rationing in many communities) has hurt not only the farmers growing the hops and grains, but also the breweries themselves---I believe they said it takes something like an average of 13 1/2 gallons of water to brew one gallon of the finished product. A few of the breweries have had to cut back production already as local communities have slashed water supplies.

that guy and remind you that there is no "next" Barry Sanders.
Barry was unique in his set of talents and never to be duplicated nor replicated.

the pictures in your OP and see that the students are late in showing up for soccer, too.
Even after Michigan Stadium had the upgrade in cell coverage.
Didn't you spread the word to them, too, WD?

Sorry, but I'm not going full-lemming and changing my upvote from hours ago.
Besides, I don't believe in "jinxes". My research on one particular type of "jinx" proves that they don't exist---I've stepped on thousands of cracks in my life and my dear old mom still has a healthy back.

Thanks, JT4104---I thought that might be Robert Hayes, but wasn't sure---too bad they didn't resurrect some of the other stars of Airplane! for this.
The weather segments by Al Roker and Stephanie Abrams (of The Today Show and Weather Channel) certainly enhance their credibility as meteorologists.

WD is already a sales rep for a major player in the world of sports apparel.
Need proof? Take a look at any OP or post he's made in the past year regarding Michigan gear. M Den is a day late and a dollar short in going after talent of his type.

was absolutely awful. Rainy while tailgating, but manageable in the morning, maybe 40 degrees or so, not any worse than many other late-season football mornings in Ann Arbor. It got everyone and everything wet---those narrow, cold metal bleacher seats were a lot worse when soaked with rain, but I remember being surprised by how the turnout was by the beginning of the game. There may have actually been 90,000 fans there at the start. But then the sleet/freezing rain and wind that started shortly after kickoff? The worst conditions ever, and by the start of the 2nd half, I doubt 40,000 fans remained in Michigan Stadium.
Norhthwestern '08 seemed not as cold, but personally, I think I felt more miserable at that game than the '95 Purdue game. I think I got 13 years older in the time between those 2 games, which is huge when by '08 you're in your early 50's and aren't immune to weather conditions like you used to be. Besides that, the '08 season as a whole was miserable, so "staying to the bitter end" was exactly that in '08---THE BITTER END.
There was one other '90's game that ranks right up there with those two, weather-wise. Maybe someone can help me out, but I do remember that it was a 3:30 game that started in OK weather, but became a cold rain in the 2nd half. By the conclusion, the rain had turned to snow ---I usually prepare well for when the weather is sub-par, but this one caught me off-guard. I spent more time hiding under the stands than I'd like to admit. Just can't remember the season and opponent at this moment...

But what about this Effing kid? You say he's pumped, but then never gave a single detail---his size, his 40 time, how many stars, his offer list??? Is he a '15 or a '16 recruit? And most importantly, can he block for our running game?
WE NEED SOME EFFING DETAILS!!!

#bbqmaizerace on twitter, and saw a couple tweets by Cam Chambers. I don't want to read too much into what he tweeted, but I'm pretty sure he's genuinely interested in Michigan after attending the BBQ.
In the meantime, looks like he's busy in an artistic and creative way, getting ready to make a "collage decision" on August 1st.
