As for the linked comment that you referenced, what was there that was wrong and/or inflamatory here? How is this "flipping out"?
"Save the crying of "choke" and WD's "not ready for the big stage" crap for your pro teams. They're paid the big $$$ to perform so it comes with the territory.
But these are student-athletes you guys are insulting and it's a bad look to act like entitled crybabies. Pretty pitiful, IMO, for Michigan 'fans' to act like that."

So I "flipped out" at others about a blown lead a couple weeks ago? How about providing a link and let's take a look...
|1 day 2 hours ago||Well stated on your own personal fandom,||
FieldingBLUE. That pretty much sums up where I am as a Michigan fan, too.
The athletes are exactly that: kids growing into young men and women, feeling their way through a new stage of their lives as students no longer under mom and dad's roof. STUDENT-athletes, not millionaire professionals. I root for them with might and main in the hope that we win, but if not I still cheer their efforts.
I, too, have a problem with "shitting" on teams that fall short of goals. Maybe a reminder is needed to those who feel entitled to nothing but championships: those enemy teams are also comprised of kids striving to win, too. We're not the only ones that are competing for championships; knowing this allows me to enjoy even more the victories and championships that my teams do achieve.
I actually feel sorry mostly for those who don't understand this and instead badmouth the very teams, Coaches, and/or athletes they claim to support.
Like my one-word response earlier, "pathetic".

BTW, he was fine to drive, as we each had 3 16-oz Oberons on the course, while he only had one small brew at The Livery. After walking that course all day, nearly every bit of alcohol consumed was burned off well before driving.

|2 days 20 hours ago||Taking a break from drinking||
after having an early start of it at 11am today while at the Senior PGA Tournament at Harbor Shores in Benton Harbor. I went with my soon-to-be son-in-law and had some seriously fun bonding time with him today, we took turns buying the Bell's Oberons while walking the entire course with the crowds. Also enjoyed some yummy food on the course from Lark's BBQ ( a truly wonderful authentic BBQ located on Main Street in BH). After the tournament we headed to The Livery Brewpub in downtown BH for a couple McGilligans American IPAs before heading home ALMOST in time to catch the final outs of the Michgan Softball win.
It's been a great day (other than some sirius sunburn I now have). But another beer? Hmmmmm....hell, why not! Time to throw some Founders All Day IPA in the fridge, one for tonight (max), then a few more for the rest of the weekend.
BTW, Colin Montgomerie is a damn good golfer but the biggest POS crybaby I've ever seen on a golf course. He's in 2nd, two strokes behind Rocco Mediate going into tomorrow's final round, and I hope his game falls apart on Sunday.

|2 days 21 hours ago||Chill.||
I've "turned into one of them". One of what?
"Take a number and stand in line." ??
Lighten up, Michael Francis Devotee. Either that or roll up a 'number' and light up, if that'll help mellow you out a bit from feeling so picked on/persecuted. Darker Blue or Mad Hatter might be able to help you out there, if you wish.
FWIW, I upvote you a helluva lot more than I downvote you, I give you credit when it's due and generally approve of the vast majority of your non-apparel posts. I treat you and your posts the same as I do those of the overwhelming majority on MGoBoard. [I'll admit it, there are a very small handful of favorite posters who get practically an auto-upvote because their overall posting quality and/or attitude and/or internet personas consistantly enlighten me and/or bring a smile to my face (here's looking at you, 'Space Coyote', 'Quiverfull', 'Mabel Pines', 'Everyone Murders', 'Muttley', 'MGoBrewMom', 'ShruteBeetFarms', and 'stephenrjking', to name some of them). You haven't earned the same free pass/free points treatment from me.]
TBH, the 'stop picking on me' act seen more and more often over the last several months is a bad look. As are posts like the one I ripped on you on a bit in the early AM hours today. Your post about Ferlic was no doubt meant well but was so factually incorrect that I immediately addressed it---as I would with anyone else that presents themselves as an "expert' and then proceeds to put up half-baked posts.
Maybe you don't like the critisism you get, but whether you realize it or not (or even care), you've somewhat set yourself up for it by presenting yourself as the expert on all things Michigan. When you do that, you place the burden on yourself to get it right or get called out.
FWIW, part 2: get rid of your "WD" avater and go back to that of Michigan QB Harry Newman. That emblem of yours is an absolute lightning rod and has been from day one, IMO. Ever heard of the phrase "He who exalts himself shall be humbled"? I'm guessing you have.

|3 days 13 hours ago||WD's statement:||
"He's right up there with his coach as the top distance runners in Michigan history."
Read it again. WD clearly states that Ferlic and his coach (Kevin Sullivan, I would assume) are the top distance runners in Michigan History. If he would have posted something along the lines of this: "He's right up there with his coach among the top distance runners in Michigan history.", I wouldn't have had reason to comment other than to agree.
Writing clearly. It's important.
As is reading comprehension.
|3 days 14 hours ago||Based on what?||
Have you ever heard of Greg Meyer? I hardly think that any list of the top distance runners in Michigan History could omit Meyer, a Michigan Athletics Hall of Famer and the last native-born American to win the Boston Marathon.
Look Meyer up; if you do, you just might find that Meyer was one helluva Steeplechase and Cross Country runner, too.
My guess is that insufficient research was (again) part of the equation that caused you to post such a half-baked statement. Maybe by the time April 2018 rolls around, you'll give Meyer his due. For the sake of your online Superguide, I hope so.

of 250 home games and about 2 dozen or so road games, I can tell you this: those road games are generally more memorable to me than the majority of the home games, probably because the uniqueness of each and every one of them. While I've seen games at Michigan Stadium since '75 and had season tickets since '77 (including my present seats since '80) and loved every minute of it, I do have to say that most of the home games that stand out in my mind are the bigger games and/or games vs bigger rivals, or games such as vs IU in '79 (Wangler-to-Carter), vs. Virginia (Mercury TD in my corner on the final play, or several I prefer not to mention. But most of those MAC games and many of the lesser home B1G games against teams like Purdue, Indiana, Northwestern, etc.? I'd be lying if I claimed to remember much of anything regarding those games.
But the road games, though---that's a different story. I've been to Michigan @ Purdue 6 times, and UM @ Northwestern 7 times, most of them blowouts, but I remember 'em all. Also been to ND 3 times, IU twice, Minnesota 2x, and each of Wisky, Ohio State, and MSU once each, and have vivid memories of all of them, even the few losses I've witnessed. There's something to be said for being a part of the "enemy" contingent that makes it enjoyable in a completely different way, especially when vastly outnumbered.
I've enjoyed road games so much that I'm seriously considering becoming a B1G nomad for a few autumns when I retire, gettting myself an RV and following Michigan Football on the road for entire seasons. Work and family have made that dream impossible so far in life, but once those time constraints are greatly reduced when I retire, hell, why not!?!

Wikipedia entry about Tall Paul Goebel and highly recommend others do the same. I knew he had played for Yost at Michigan and had gone on to be Mayor of GR (I'm from the GR area), but I knew little else about Goebel until now. An All-American end and later an NFL All-Pro, he deserves a bit more fame for his accomplishments as a Michigan Man.
The story about him becoming unhinged against OSU at the dedication game of Ohio Stadium was especially interesting---apparently Goebel was also shown appreciation by the Ohio crowd for his brilliant game, similar to what Tom Harmon famously received two decades later. So awesome were his efforts that day that part of the interior of the entrance rotunda's ceiling is painted in Maize and Blue flowers in his honor. I wonder if Urban has noticed it...
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Ye of little faith.||
Unlike you and many others, I don't see a big drop-off in 2017. Harbaugh and his staff have recruited with purpose and as a result are quickly putting Michigan in a position where we are deep enough to say "next man up!" without a crippling drop-off in talent.
We used to be there under Lloyd but not since, as both RR's a Hoke's recruiting left gaping positional holes in the depth chart.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Though I played a lot of||
youth baseball and ran track 3 of my 4 years in high school in Grand Rapids, I can't name anyone I played against that made it big.
But I did run track for GR West Catholic HS as a classmate and teammate of a great distance runner by the name of Greg Meyer, who is now a member of the U of M Athletic HOF for his track exploits. I sort of competed against Meyer in practice, mostly competing not to get lapped by him in distance runs on the practice track.
Most who recognize Meyer's name know him as the last native-born American runner to win the Boston Marathon. Greg was at his peak back in 1980 and would have traveled to Moscow to run the Olympic Marathon, if not for Jimmy Carter's ill-advised decision to boycott those Olympics because of Soviet Russia's involvement in Afganistan.

of Paul Griffin. I watched him play a couple seasons while I was a student at WMU, including for the great 75-76 team that finished ranked #10 in the AP Poll and gave Al McGuire's Marquette Warriors all they could handle before losing by 5 in the Sweet 16 game of the NCAA Tourney.
Griffin was the heart and soul, the leader of that great Bronco team that went 25-3 for the season. A strong rebounder, fearless defender and fantastic passer, I had no doubt when watching him that he'd play NBA ball.
What I didn't know back then was that Johnny Orr, Judd Heathcote, and Bobby Knight all tried to sign him. Thanks for filling us all in on that info.

stranded runners at 3rd. Glad we have the lead, but Betsa is going to have to stay on top of her game if we're not scoring those runs ourselves.
And now we drop one in the outfield.
|2 weeks 2 days ago||You are very fortunate. Happy for you that you both||
did the work and are better for it.
I'm envious of you, too, though---I did the work/counseling for a lengthy amount of time to understand and heal while my ex went thru the motions of going to counseling only briefly when she cheated 7 years and 2 kids into our marriage. Proclaimed herself "healed" and quit going. In reality, though, she couldn't escape her dysfunctional upbringing during which both parents cheated on each other repeatedly and eventually had multiple marriages each .
A dozen or so years later she repeated that same pattern and so ended the marriage. Yes, damaged relationships can heal, but only if both put in the work, as you and your wife have proven. You now have what I strived for. Cherish it and continue to focus on keeping it strong while counting your blessings .

what's wrong with their fans getting loud in support of their team?

I can't seem to grasp how Rutgers will benefit by us talking about them on the MGoBoard, nor do I see them weakening by us ignoring them. They are irrelevant, always have been, always will be.
Is there anyone other than the most delusional Rutgers fans who honestly believes they will ever win the BigTen Football Championship? IU hasn't even won it since sharing it back in '67, nearly 50 years ago. What is there that indicates Rutgers will ever do any better than IU?

Can't help but wonder if that interview was sponsored by Brylcream™.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||The obvious and most appropriate completion||
to the OP's thread title is..."Notre Dame". If it worked for Bo, then nothing tops his answer.
As for a true story about something idiotic I've seen an opposing fan do, I'd have to go with this one: Back in the late 70's, while at my first of my several road games at Northwestern (the biggest real rival of our pseudo-biggest rival), I witnessed a middle-aged drunk Wildcat fan cover herself (and her hot dog, too) with mustard when she couldn't get the pump to work on a mustard dispenser. Instead of trying a different dispenser, she cussed at that one for not working and then picked it up and turned it upside down, at which point gravity took over and the lid popped off, spilling most of the mustard all over her rather nice outfit. As buzzed as I was, I couldnt do anything but laugh.
Had she been a coed, I likely instead would have offered to help wipe or lick the mustard off. Instead, as I laughed, I remember thinking it was such a shame that it happened to her rather than to a State or Ohio State fan.

...and it's also IN bad taste.
|2 weeks 3 days ago||No.||
First, I'd rather see the B1G fire Delaney and hire someone competent. Then boot Rutgers and Penn State out and NOT replace them.
As for the other conferences, F them! If they want >12 members and do it by including schools like Cinci, that's their problem.
Oh, and ND? If they don't want to play in a conference like everybody else does, then ban them from the CFP. Tired of the tail wagging the dog.

And no, nobody wearing a Red Sox cap since the early 2000s is cool. You're all obnoxious as hell, unless you've worn that teams cap since BEFORE they finally won the World Series.
My oldest daughter has inexplicably been a Bosox fan since she was a kid, while that team was still lousy. She can claim cool. You can't.

You get my upvote for beating WD by 2 minutes with your explanation of Crawford's name change.
Go 'Team Bursley'!
|2 weeks 4 days ago||Just wondering,||
when will you be following Kekoa Crawford's lead and reintroducing yourself as Nike Devotee (ND)?
Are you waiting for the final seconds of the Adidas contract to expire before your big announcement?
|2 weeks 5 days ago||I'm pretty sure at this point||
that WD's last name is Brand-on. He's so devoted to the Nike brand, in fact, that he might as well change his MGoUser name to 'ND' (Nike Devotee).

getting the night off, anyway? I understand resting players, but do it when they're struggling a bit and/or when it's a day game following a night game, NOT when they have a hot bat. And with homers in his last two games, his bat was hot.
