| 32 weeks 10 hours ago | Yeah, tough to figure it out |
Yeah, tough to figure it out right. Michigan loses to #1 Alabama and drops to 19th in poll. A couple weeks later Georgia lays a goose egg against #6 SC and falls only to 12th in poll. Both started from number 5, and a SEC team only falls half the number of spots even though the team they played was ranked 5 spots lower. At this point I guess it is who cares and hope Michigan can win the Big Ten. |

You are nuts, or a troll, or a trolling nut. Stonum never played for Michigan again in the end... He got a chance to improve himself as a person and he did not play a down for Michigan again. What is tougher than that? Would you kick the players with issues out the door without trying to help them? Is that better for you? I prefer our coaches treat our players as young men who make mistakes like anyone else and can benefit for guidance and discipline. |
| 39 weeks 6 days ago | I think we can trust Hoke to |
I think we can trust Hoke to do the right thing here. Last year he was very stern with Stonum and I don't see a track record of ignoring playing conduct issues for people to be upset about. Not defining a specific punishment or timetable is a great way to do this. Fitz has to earn it back. This method gives our coaches a way to evaluate if understands his mistakes and is making an honest effort to change. Even sitting him out for one game, two games, four games etc... Only sets a consequence, it does not necessarily provoke change in a meaningful way. I would say bravo for handling it in a way that can help improve the young man as a person. We can debate if it was enough after it is all said and done, although even then only people close the situation will probably know all details about the punishment. |

| 42 weeks 3 days ago | Right on, I think people |
Right on, I think people close to the situation that know Ftiz and know the exact details are better judges of what the punishment should be. I will be happy to let the coaching staff be the judge of that since they are privy to the facts and the character of player. Hoke and company have not been overly light in past, and I don't see a reason to doubt the coaching staff's judgement. |

He did look slow this year, and he had horrible puck control on the boards for a power forward. He could not keep the puck when he had it deep, and he could not take it away on defense. With about 14 minutes left in the second quarter Montana goes for on fourth and a couple inside the twenty instead of taking the FG. They end up coming up three short after a good comeback. I hated the call when they did and although some CHARTS show fourth downs are too conserative in general, that has to hurt.

Agreed, it would seem to get "tired" would take some number of plays. Certainly no defense is tired if their offense goes three and out in the first drive. Maybe a break down by quarter, or look at third / fourth quarter specifically? After x plays or drive? Of course later in the game coaching adjustments might effect the effectiveness of defensive squad unless you consider those to be a wash. I wonder what the average number plays/time a good defense is on the field versus a bad defense.

That huge drop in defensive rating between 2007 - 2008 pre -GREG should be considered. It seems like comparing the GREG ave against this non-GREG average, or even against an all-time average, would have to take that event into account. It would be useful to see historically how fast a defense can recover after such a steep decline, and how other D coordinators have faired the two years following a similar event. |

| 2 years 32 weeks ago | How about defensive style? |
I know Indiana's pass offense may have been the reason for so many three man fronts, but don't we need these young players to be playing out of base defense more so they can improve at it? I suppose it is a little catch 22, but most of this defense will be here next year. Not playing the base defense because of one or two weak talent spots hurts the development of all the players. |

I think in general an overrated team has to be traditionally one of the top three teams in a conference. So I don't think MSU or Wisconsin would fit the bill. Traditionally Michigan would surely fit that bill since they have been a Big Ten power, and had 3-4 loses many of those years. There will always be teams overrated, and there will always be teams underrated. I would prefer to be overrated as it indicates past success. |
| 2 years 41 weeks ago | I think "off the bandwagon" |
I think "off the bandwagon" means people who don't watch and follow the team until they are ranked high, or in a big bowl game. I don't know that not approving of RR, means people are not cheering for and supporting Michigan. I can't think of anyone I know that has stopped going to games, or said they wouldn't until RR was gone. We just have not been competitive in enough games the last few years, and even the fans "on the wagon" search for reasons to explain that. Heck, in the past even when we had 3 or 4 loss seasons there were coaches / players under fire from the fans. I think it is possible to be a supportive fan and disapprove, or have negative opinions, about certain aspects of the program. I believe most fans understand the program, and individual pieces, are dynamic and change each year. Eight or more wins would settle a lot of the negative opinions. I personally hope Michigan has a great season and we can keep RR in the Big House. |

Brian, Not sure if TV coverage will show this in your UFR, but if it does please pay attention to the following on that 85 yard TD. There was a late adjustment on the D-line. I remember seeing someone (probably VB not sure though) want to switch, for the strong side. BG waved it off, then relented and switched late. Right before the snap and possibly in response to the d-line switching sides, JM started to switch and it brought it him away from the play side. Right then it was snapped and we were at serve disadvantage on that side. |

Can you tell me what is happening at 10 you're excited for? I seem to be missing some information. EDIT: Nevermind read from other thread. The BTN website says 10PM, although it does not include a show length. I give it up at the internet, found it yes 1:30 minutes. |
| 3 years 39 weeks ago | Yeah |
He did a great job as freshman, bouncing around like a not so little bowling ball. He had the majority of those stats his first year, I always like seeing local talent stay in state. |
| 3 years 40 weeks ago | Really |
There is a Michigan student section in Columbus? |
| 3 years 41 weeks ago | not sure that is fair... |
I think people get a little carried away with these top numbers. I do not mean to defend rating services, but how many high school football players are there in the country? A quick search points at over 1 million in the US. Holy crap that is a large sample! Sure looking at only the standouts would lower that number, but even then to be rated in the top 1000 would mean you are truly outstanding. On the other hand, for a service to create rankings instead of a broad rating with those kind of numbers is kind of ludicrous in itself. |
| 3 years 42 weeks ago | I like Boo-boo |
But he had some serious issues holding on to the ball. Lets hope our special teams can hold the rock this year. |
| 3 years 42 weeks ago | Yea that could be |
Is that why people think our schedule is weak too? Here are the last four years for Minn. I would take our scheduling instead of this. I think the ideal would be two BCS non-conf and two cupcakes(Alternate Home-Away series so you get 3 home non-conf). 2008 - Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, Montana State, Florida Atlantic 2007 - Florida Atlantic, Bowling Green, Miami (oh), North Dakota State 2006 - Kent State, Cal, North Dakota State, Temple 2005 - Tulsa, Colorado State, Florida Atlantic (only played 10 regular season games) |
| 3 years 42 weeks ago | I thought |
Minn was know for a super patsy non-conf traditionally? Guess I can look that up. |
| 3 years 43 weeks ago | I find it funny |
Most of the player's tag-lines are descriptions with stats, then this for #91. "The top prospect in Tennessee sports a 3.8 GPA." |
| 3 years 43 weeks ago | yeah |
Most rivalry games are close, and despite MSU not being our #1 rivalry it is an in-state BCS school. For instance lately we have been "PWNED" by OSU by these scores. 2001 Michigan 20 Ohio State 26 Ann Arbor That is 4 one score margins, 2 two score margins, and last years blow out. Some of those lower margin games we did not look good the whole the game, but held it close. EDIT: Yikes took 2003 out count, we won. |
| 3 years 44 weeks ago | Pretty sure |
They do NOT have a rolling start in the 40 dash. |
| 3 years 44 weeks ago | Well said |
In addition to the environment where it is run, you are always trying to get a number where the high-low range is typically around half second for skill positions. Most are not electronic and taken by a few people with stop watches. |
| 3 years 44 weeks ago | yeah |
Sounds about right. I hate when people call us that, makes me think of IBM. |
| 3 years 44 weeks ago | I hope... |
we can see our linemen in the second level this year! In the CoJo(Cornelius Jones) highlight film his blockers were dominating the linebackers on the zone read. Go Blue! |
| 3 years 44 weeks ago | cost |
Yeah I think American football is more cost prohibitive than more popular sports internationally like baseball, basketball, soccer, etc... |
| 3 years 45 weeks ago | I would go as low as with 5-7 |
I would go as low as with 5-7 with an OSU win, before I started opting for a high win total. |
| 3 years 45 weeks ago | Didn't illinois... |
lose the "Juice"? I can't imagine them being decent without him. |
| 3 years 45 weeks ago | hmmm |
Yeah I would imagine the whole concept of momentum, emotion, and other physiological factors probably can't be figured into probability. But losing a close game to a good team, or gasp losing to an opponent you should not, has to greatly effect the actual chance of winning the following games. Perhaps someone could pull up some historical data where this has happened, then compare the subsequent game results to the prediction. |
| 3 years 46 weeks ago | hmmm |
If the comment was about eating horses in China, then it would be in bad taste. |
| 3 years 50 weeks ago | Unlucky? |
The Franzen goal in game one was completely due to Fleury's poor positioning, not the Pens being "unlucky". He was several feet outside the crease on the initial shot, and had no chance at making a normal recovery. Also, Cleary had his stick on the ice ready to tap it in if it missed Fleury's Pad. Pens are losing because they are not playing as well as they can. Let's hope they pick it so we can watch a good game tonight. |
| 3 years 51 weeks ago | Hey Chelios My grandma is single. |
Still cracks me up. |
| 4 years 1 week ago | No looker |
His goal from the slot in game 5 was sweet. He came up the right wing spotting Hiller's position, then cut into the slot and fired the shot with his eyes and head pointed toward the left wing. He has a quick release and Hiller barley had time to react. |
| 4 years 7 weeks ago | You mean |
"only a single year of college football under his belt" You mean High School football I believe. |
| 4 years 32 weeks ago | aye |
Nice and close to the stadium obviously. You get to see the bands go by before the game, and the players walk through after. All depends on what you are looking for in a tailgate. More drinking and game playing etc... on the course. Far less can snipers in the lot. |
| 4 years 33 weeks ago | saw him |
.. play my little bros team this year. He seemed pretty solid, good routes and fast. However, he did get a few jump balls knocked out of his hands by shorter corners which was surprising. Glad to see he is coming aboard, he seemed to have a lot of athletic ability. Here is a good pic from the game there are some more in the gallery. http://www.printroom.com/ViewGalleryPhoto.asp?evgroupid=0&shopperid=XKDN...

| 4 years 33 weeks ago | great... |
Love that show! |
| 4 years 33 weeks ago | My fav |
Any time an announcer uses "you" to insinuate some stereo-type or general opinion is mine... Generally after a play/performance of a player/team that people are generally down on. "You think <player x> is not fast" |
| 4 years 36 weeks ago | Never thought of that... |
Maybe the cheer is really, "I am too drunk to drive someone take my keys!" |
| 4 years 36 weeks ago | leadership |
It's not bad to have a team leader in huddle and since day one RR has mentioned Minor as one. I think we will see plenty of him this year. RR also mentioned the freshmen will play and we will see that plenty of that as well. |
| 4 years 36 weeks ago | all in favor |
I would not mind if the "WAVE" carried itself outside of the stadium and took the "KEYS" with it. Both could dissappear or be replaced in my mind. |
| 4 years 37 weeks ago | I agree |
I agree, but since I am a Michigan Fan I will point out Crable's head-shot on T. Smith probably cost us the 06 OSU game. I think when you're a team expected to do great, not exclusive to Michigan, good plays are devalued and mistakes magnified. |
| 4 years 37 weeks ago | I was... |
I was thinking the same thing at first, but I think we will get some big plays for scores. There will be fumbles and go-no-where drives, but I think with the talent and system we will get some breaks, even with the growning pains. |
| 4 years 37 weeks ago | I expect... |
I expect to see many turnovers from the new offense and young ball carriers. If we keep it under three I think we win.
24 -16 Mich |
| 4 years 38 weeks ago | already mentioned 1,800,200,000 times |
Yes it was the previous staff. One of the MGoBlue season preview videos goes over the whole thing. Also, Luke is confused the away jersey changes often at Michigan it is the home jersey that does not. |
| 4 years 38 weeks ago | Just |
click that little donations button and he will be. |
| 4 years 38 weeks ago | Can we ... |
start talking about this season yet? |
| 4 years 39 weeks ago | yeah |
I think the actual number of players that go to the NFL is a pretty useless number. Nice for bragging rights or the such, but not much more. That said, running a pro-style offense gives experience to players that could translate into draft value. Of course Michigan always gets great recruits, and that will continue to translate to draft day. I think an interesting question might be how will this effect recruiting? Will recruits devalue Michigan because they want a Pro-Style offense? And with the unique skill sets required for this offense, would it even matter if we lose pro-style offense players? also, FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zingerman's motto was "You can buy better, but you can't pay more" |
| 4 years 39 weeks ago | 05 Rose Bowl |
Was a fun game to watch! A shootout against a great team that came down to a last second kick. Not sure I could rank that as a worse defeat. |
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | could be... |
I feel like 7-8 wins (not including bowl) seems right. I can not convince myself there are less than 6 wins, or more than 10 on the schedule. |
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | obvious.... |
Dive left. |
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | ditto |
Brian, Not the place for a feature request... but can you lock threads that get annoying? Please.
|
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | Shouldn't people... |
be thankful someone who was not buying into the program left, instead of sending hate mail? |
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | spiral |
I am too lazy to read all the new comments, can this thread die yet? Anyway if it has not been said, I bet dollars to doughnuts his lack of spiral probably has a lot to do with new coaching on his mechanics. |
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | no kidding... |
Now can we get little yellow accents on the sidebars like the away jerseys? |
| 4 years 40 weeks ago | hmm... |
All I can think looking at Boren's face is Full Metal Jacket, photoshop anyone? |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | smoke tunnel | We are getting one right ? |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | hahah | yeah that was pretty funny... Stop feeding them chocolate milk... hahaha |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | me | I like what I saw in practice vid at mgoblue, I would like to see them with the game pants. FOOTBALL!!! I feel like freezing myself like Cartman in that Wii south park. |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | FOOTBALL!!!! | Weeeeeha. I think the away jersey looks great on minor in the picture. Blue shorts but whatever. |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | times... |
The shuttle gauges change of direction and acceleration more then pure speed. Personally this seems like a better indicator than a 40 time for just about any position in football. As far as ESPN reporting it wrong, they could have at least had the decency to make it lower then Bo J's mythical 4.12 http://espn.go.com/classic/s/jacksonboadd.html [OT] : "Though he says he doesn't follow most sports, Jackson is a fan of the WNBA and watches outdoor shows." really.... really? |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | lol... nice | "double secret emphasis" |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | not great... | I think the whole comparison idea is kind of lame, but the whole article is centered on the offensive side of the ball and even says so it the title. |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | size | I think with the style offense RR runs it is mostly a given the desired players change in size and ability. One thing I am wondering about is how many higher level, and NFL sized recruits, we might lose now that we do not run a "Pro Style" offense. I would think we might end up with lower draft numbers in the coming years. not that it matters terribly, maybe different fluff in the press guide. |
| 4 years 41 weeks ago | I would say so... | 53 yards on 4 carries, even considering the personel in the game I think he is looking great. |
| 4 years 42 weeks ago | UV | That is on today's UV post. |
| 4 years 42 weeks ago | little high | The money is off, I paid for my little brother to go to camp it was 215 for a commuter. For a few hundred more they give room and board for the camp. Edit: Little early number are right... Where is that caffeine? |
| 4 years 43 weeks ago | Big Time | I just got a copy of HTTV08 at Walgreens in Brighton! Apparently HTTV is infiltrating local pharmacies in WLA fashion. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | fuzzy math |
It's not quite 5 a side the bar is also 45 lbs, so that would be 495... I bet he can't wait till he can do 5 a side though.
|
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | You know... | You know why birds fly upside-down in West Virginia? There is nothing worth shitting on. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | yeah | It does sound cool, wish I had something setup to stream HD to my TV though. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Believe the Hype | If all S&C hype is true, then I doubt there is a single fat slow player left. Additionally, some of the earlier "playing time optional" quotes suggest players not selling out will be riding pine. I think we will be impressed by the conditioning of everyone including the o-line. The real question I think is the experience/technique/execution. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Nice | Good laugh to start the day. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Word... | I got some cash burning a hole in my pocket for a Barwis shirt. Maybe "Barwis Submitted Chuck Norris"? |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | near end | on a kick return. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Go Minor! | Both good submissions, good job guys. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Looks fine | We are in no danger of becoming Oregon. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Really? | "Beyond the jersey, TechFit PowerWeb - featured in a special calf sleeve for players that improves oxygen delivery to the leg and increases blood flow. It is proven that Tech Fit can improve run times by 1.1 percent and provide 5.3 percent more power." Now that sounds like snake oil. |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Its a weird cycle... | Someone who is more inclined could probably make a dairy entry on the fan psyche with the whole bragging rights/trash talking thing. I think people can justify their favorite team's current situation in a rivalry, or really against any particular team/conference, whether it is positive or negative. Part of the experience, and we do it too! |
| 4 years 44 weeks ago | Nice, much better! | Nice, much better! |
| 4 years 45 weeks ago | hmm... | I prefer to not see the number 10,000 and the phrase non-refundable used together. |
| 4 years 45 weeks ago | Titles dissappeared for content sections in left anf right (ie7) | Uploaded a screenshot... not sure if there is a way to link that in comments or not. They show fine in FF still. |
