Yeah, tough to figure it out right. Michigan loses to #1 Alabama and drops to 19th in poll. A couple weeks later Georgia lays a goose egg against #6 SC and falls only to 12th in poll. Both started from number 5, and a SEC team only falls half the number of spots even though the team they played was ranked 5 spots lower. At this point I guess it is who cares and hope Michigan can win the Big Ten.

Still time to push it higher!

I think we can trust Hoke to do the right thing here. Last year he was very stern with Stonum and I don't see a track record of ignoring playing conduct issues for people to be upset about. Not defining a specific punishment or timetable is a great way to do this. Fitz has to earn it back. This method gives our coaches a way to evaluate if understands his mistakes and is making an honest effort to change. Even sitting him out for one game, two games, four games etc... Only sets a consequence, it does not necessarily provoke change in a meaningful way. I would say bravo for handling it in a way that can help improve the young man as a person. We can debate if it was enough after it is all said and done, although even then only people close the situation will probably know all details about the punishment.

Right on, I think people close to the situation that know Ftiz and know the exact details are better judges of what the punishment should be. I will be happy to let the coaching staff be the judge of that since they are privy to the facts and the character of player. Hoke and company have not been overly light in past, and I don't see a reason to doubt the coaching staff's judgement.

I know Indiana's pass offense may have been the reason for so many three man fronts, but don't we need these young players to be playing out of base defense more so they can improve at it? I suppose it is a little catch 22, but most of this defense will be here next year. Not playing the base defense because of one or two weak talent spots hurts the development of all the players.

I tried it back then, it was not great. You could see most main page text, embedded items not so much. You could not comment, and I believe you could not even access comments and boards. Could not follow links, etc... If you have a new fangle phone it would probably be a better option than a kindle for MGoBlog.

That aside, the kindle is great for reading books and easy to travel with. I did have my first one die after about 6 months, amazon sent me a replacement next day air.

Well said. Out of any NCAA football team Michigan might be the most aware of not over looking teams, or taking things for granted. The Horror, Toledo, the second half of 2009 they are aware trust me.

Allen - I will take the OVER. I don't think he will bust a ton of big gains, but a good YPC and a few 20's take him over.

UM Redzone - UNDER. I think we will score plenty, but big plays takes the red zone out of 3td territory.

ND Passing - UNDER. They get a few big ones again, but mostly dumps to avoid the rushers their line can't handle.

UM two back over 50 total yards - OVER. If it was just rushing I would say no, but DR loves the short passes. We will see some screens and swing passes pad the RB's rushing stats.

Don't they always keep the grass long at ND? The advantage would not be everyone is slower, it would be their players are use to playing on it and others are not.

Hope he stays! D-rob took so many hits against UConn it is hard to believe he won't get banged up and miss sometime this year. Gardner is a true frosh, if it gets in and plays like it we will need Tate badly.

Think this was referring to the fans. It was great today, have you ever seen so many people in the stadium early! I got there 45 minutes early and it was already pretty full. I know there was alot of hype for the rededication, but it was great to see. Go Blue.

1) You find street parking that early all over. I think east of the stadium, on industrial there are lots of side streets by the apartments. In the 7 th street to pauline grid on the east side, although people pay park in their yards in this area as well. So they will load the streets with their cars and take up extra spaces. Yard parking will be cheaper than the GC or Pioneer.

I would recommend the good old scalpers, worst case you pay that $100 a ticket or whatever stubhub is. A good idea is to find a corner like the diag with scaplers all around. Talk to a few of them, then improve your position by telling them how much cheaper the other guys are.

Exactly, teams that are not very good on a whole have to pass more. They have to do this because they are behind, or can't get first downs on the ground.

It's a great spot, I have been tailgating in a reserved spot there the last couple years. Like Blaze said there is a "no alcohol" rule on the school grounds, but I have never seen it enforced. I would imagine if you were too out of hand, then it might be invoked.

I won't fly spirit airlines either. I was on a plane where the engine burnt out on throttel up. Not a great feeling to be at the head of the runway and hear that! Glad it was then and not 30 seconds later. They did put me on another airline upon my request.

Not sure if TV coverage will show this in your UFR, but if it does please pay attention to the following on that 85 yard TD.

There was a late adjustment on the D-line. I remember seeing someone (probably VB not sure though) want to switch, for the strong side. BG waved it off, then relented and switched late. Right before the snap and possibly in response to the d-line switching sides, JM started to switch and it brought it him away from the play side. Right then it was snapped and we were at serve disadvantage on that side.

Make sure to double check though! Dexter vs Pioneer is listed as Friday, Sept 4th as well. However, since my little brother is on the team I am quite sure it is actually on Thursday the 3rd.

This is the exact same footage from the season's first "Inside Michigan Football" that was on FSN last night. I think replays this afternoon, but it is really the same thing with a spot on the defense.

I think if both coaches agree at the start of the scrimmage they can do no contact on the QB in the pocket. The refs at my brother's scrimmage did this last week. The refs just blew the whistle early when the D approached the QB.

Most rivalry games are close, and despite MSU not being our #1 rivalry it is an in-state BCS school. For instance lately we have been "PWNED" by OSU by these scores.

That is 4 one score margins, 2 two score margins, and last years blow out. Some of those lower margin games we did not look good the whole the game, but held it close.

Yeah I would imagine the whole concept of momentum, emotion, and other physiological factors probably can't be figured into probability. But losing a close game to a good team, or gasp losing to an opponent you should not, has to greatly effect the actual chance of winning the following games.

Perhaps someone could pull up some historical data where this has happened, then compare the subsequent game results to the prediction.

The Franzen goal in game one was completely due to Fleury's poor positioning, not the Pens being "unlucky". He was several feet outside the crease on the initial shot, and had no chance at making a normal recovery. Also, Cleary had his stick on the ice ready to tap it in if it missed Fleury's Pad.

Pens are losing because they are not playing as well as they can. Let's hope they pick it so we can watch a good game tonight.

His goal from the slot in game 5 was sweet. He came up the right wing spotting Hiller's position, then cut into the slot and fired the shot with his eyes and head pointed toward the left wing. He has a quick release and Hiller barley had time to react.

Nice and close to the stadium obviously. You get to see the bands go by before the game, and the players walk through after. All depends on what you are looking for in a tailgate. More drinking and game playing etc... on the course. Far less can snipers in the lot.

I was thinking the same thing at first, but I think we will get some big plays for scores. There will be fumbles and go-no-where drives, but I think with the talent and system we will get some breaks, even with the growning pains.
