If your looking at gold as an investment vehicle, you may want to consider a mutual fund for all the same reasons you might favor one over an individual stock (diversification, professional management, etc.) There's many that specialize in precious metals but I've only got personal experience with Franklin Gold & Precious Metals (FRGOX).
I wouldn't build my portfolio around this (or any commodity) but it's a nice hedge and potentially a good value. Just my 2 cents... with all disclaimers about not taking investment advice from random posters on a sports blog.

Almost makes up for that heartbreaker last year...
|10 weeks 10 hours ago||No, no, no. Neither of them.||
No, no, no. Neither of them. Except for very rare cases, NFL coaching is a young man's game and bringing back the older coach with the big resume (and corresponding ego) rarely works.
Brian Kelly is an outstanding college coach but I've seen nothing that leads me to believe he'd succeed in the NFL. The biggest issue with Schwartz (probably the best Lions coach of the past 50 years, but still deserved to lose his job) was his inability to control his emotions or that of his team, I doubt that would improve under Kelly.

I don't mean to offend one by using a non-human example but my beloved dog of 13 years died a year ago from an awful, agressive cancer that spread so rapidly that nothing could be done. Worst few weeks of my life and ultimately I made the humane decision to end her suffering once all the treatment options were exhausted. I'd have done anything if there really were a cure available and my heart goes out to anyone whose lost someone or something they love to such an awful disease.

I don't think I've ever called out another poster or said anything negative / inflamnatory but... wtf??? Grow up dude, we all get the concept you're selling but no one agrees with your interpretation.
Too bad, the original question was actually interesting but I can't believe I devoted 8 minutes of my life to scrolling thru this nonsense.

I thought you meant the Fab Five ones for a second, but this is exciting on it's own. Great team and a great season.

This was really great, thank you so much for sharing... I was totally entranced and ignored some pressing work stuff to finish it, there could have been a fire alarm going off by the time I got to the photo gallery and would have been oblivious. Awesome post!

Can't believe it took so long for anyone to mention '97. Nebraska whined their way into a share of the title after Tennessee laid down in the bowl game and Osborne announced his retirement. To this day, the thought of Scott Frost and his post-game begging makes me sick.

Most excited to see all the new talent debut (specifically Dymonte, Taco, Jehu and Kalis) but I'm expecting the following:
1) Dominant interior running game
2) No blown coverages. The individual talent on the DL and secondary is improved / more experienced and that should translate to a much better pass defense. Big plays due to mental mistakes (against an inferior opponent) would be troubling.
3) Multiple TE's having an impact in the passing game

41, lifetime fan. One of the best moments of my life was seeing Ryan Leaf's final pass fall incomplete as afternoon transitioned to dusk in Pasadena. So many close calls in the 80's and early 90's and all the disappointment melted away. Can't wait for the next one...

I like Avery but knee and back problems are an awful combination. Hope he recovers and is able to contribute this year but not at the expense of hobbling around 30 years too early.

I'll go with Glasgow out of the choices listed but I'm still optimistic that Jarrod Wilson develops into a competent starter this year.
|28 weeks 14 hours ago||Not likely, he's been||
Not likely, he's been available for anyone to sign at different points in the past few seasons and nobody's pulled the trigger. Got cut by SF last year and their WR corps was not a team strength. I think it goes beyond the drops / concentration lapses / kind of acting like an a-hole and he's just lost the ability to run by people or get seperation.
An all-time Michigan great but he's 30, his last moderately productive year was 2010 and 4 teams have given up on him in the past 4 years. Sadly, I think he's done.

So much content, might need to take the rest of the day (week?) off to absorb it all. Can't wait for Saturday!!!
|28 weeks 16 hours ago||I think NW is being||
I think NW is being overrated. Well, maybe they're properly rated on talent but I think the expectations are unrealistic given the schedule. It's hard to see less than 4 losses in these games: at Cal, Ohio at home, at Wisconsin, at Iowa, at Nebraska, and then Michigan & MSU at home.
|28 weeks 16 hours ago||Yes, he should and probably||
Yes, he should and probably will. This time last year it looked like he'd be the starting QB this year and his primary weapon would be Gardner. DG's strong finish to the year and the extra year of eligibility he's picked up have changed the equation but Shane is the backup and it's almost certain he'll need to play this year. Shane missed a lot of his Sr. season and needs the reps, might as well get him some experience so he's ready when called upon.
|28 weeks 17 hours ago||Thanks for sharing,||
Thanks for sharing, specifically the Lloyd stuff. I had the opportunity to hear him speak at a corporate event a few years ago and it was awesome. He was paid for the apperance (very well, I'm sure) but he was a dynamic speaker and graciously made time for everyone's individual questions, photo requests, etc. I don't know what did / didn't really happen with the whole coaching search, transition and RR regime but I'm still a big fan of Carr.

Looks great! The Denard pic was awesome but it's a new season and time for a fresh start.
|28 weeks 17 hours ago||I wouldn't get to worked up||
I wouldn't get to worked up about any of this... it's going to change based on matchups, injuries and game performance. It's fun to look at and speculate about but I think (especially early in the season) these are as much about motivation as they are legitimate rankings of ability. We're still young in a lot of areas but the depth and overall talent level is much better than anything we've seen in recent years and it's really exciting to envision what this team will become.
|28 weeks 17 hours ago||Not the most flattering angle||
Not the most flattering angle for Brady in # 1 but all of them are pretty cool in their own way, thank you!
|28 weeks 18 hours ago||This may not be the class||
This may not be the class where it happens but I'd still like to see us take 2 QB's in one of the upcoming classes. We're still a little short on the depth chart and I'd love to get back to the 90's level of being legitimately 3 - 5 deep in any given year and having a more orderly succession plan where true freshman aren't forced on to the two-deep unless their talent demands it.
|28 weeks 18 hours ago||More great news... the (much||
More great news... the (much anticipated) class of 2013 has yet to play a down, an even more impressive class of 2014 is still being finalized and I've already moved on to 2015. It's really amazing what this staff has been able to accomplish!
|28 weeks 18 hours ago||Training camp injuries are||
Training camp injuries are the worst! You work all off-season and then it's snatched away before you get to play a single down... and all you have to look forward to is a long rehab that will hopefully allow you to play in a year. Pre-season games are absolutely useless and should be eliminated altogether or cut down to a max of two.
Best of luck to Stevie in his recovery!

Antoine Winfield is the super optimistic ceiling and Brandon Harrison is probably the realistic floor amongst players of similar size / skill set. Should be a solid contributor with the potential for much more.
