RIT vs Quinnipiac Hoping for a good game! RIT beat the top overall seed last year, I hope they can do it again
I think you're absolutely I think you're absolutely right about fans not knowing where the teams are from (Pittsburgh; Niagara County, NY and Erie, PA). I also think that Atlantic Hockey is slowly improving as a conference each year. As for Robert Morris - if they can play on the level they did last year, it's absoutely a trap series for Michigan.
Glad to see RIT and Robert Glad to see RIT and Robert Morris just outside the preseason Top 20. That's pretty strong love for college hockey's red-headed stepchild, Atlantic Hockey. I'm surprised Minnesota State is ranked so high after being exposed in last year's NCAA tournament.
Well, it looks like there Well, it looks like there will be a defense this year and it will have players, many of whom are good and have shown versatility. Pretty much what I got from that interview.
In the stadium I'll be in Section N26, Row 38
If you like white IPAs, I'd If you like white IPAs, I'd throw Wasatch GhostRider (6%) on that list as well. Completely agree on the rest; the craft brewing scene in SLC is solid.
Not looking them in the eye Not looking them in the eye is especially good advice near Temple Square. They're always looking to recruit so beware pairs of guys/girls that are being extra friendly.
You can pretty much spend You can pretty much spend most of a day in Park City just wandering Main Street and checking out the local shops and restaurants. If you like hiking and mountain biking there are some great trails in and around the resorts. There is also a nice, free museum up at the Olympic Center that's worth a quick walkthrough.
Food, etc. Salt Lake is a more liberal place than the rest of Utah, especially around downtown. If you're looking for a good bar, the Beerhive Pub has a good beer menu and Squatter's Brewery downtown has a nice selection of local beer as well. Since it's Utah, nothing above 4% can be served on tap, so anything stronger will come in a bottle. Red Rock Brewing has ok beer and good food. Lucky 13 has great burgers, The Pie has good (for Utah) pizza and the Red Iguana has great Mexican food but is almost always a long wait. Those are just some of the highlights.
First double post! Nothing to see here; move along.
Well done, Coach Beilein
Those things happen Don't feel bad, Ace. As a crime reporter, I almost had a similar (worse) slip up. I wrote that a young man's life had been tragically cut short in a story about a vigil in his memory - he had been stabbed to death. Luckily the editors caught that one before it made it online/to press.
So proud of my alma mater,

So proud of my alma mater, which has had another great appearance in the NCAA tournament. I was a freshman when RIT made the Frozen Four in 2010 and the atmosphere on campus and in Rochester was electric.

Hockey is the only Division I sport at RIT and in Rochester, so there is a strong following of current students and alumni. It was great watching the game today and hearing the band and Corner Crew.

I think Atlantic Hockey has been steadily improving over the years. It's not on par with the other conferences by any means, but the teams are becoming more competitive.

Well, I'll be cheering for my

Well, I'll be cheering for my RIT Tigers. The last time they made the NCAA tournament (2010) as the lowest-seeded team they made the Frozen Four.

It'd be great to see them pull of another upset or two this year. Senior forward Matt Garbowsky is a Hobey Baker finalist and is having a great year.

The Tigers are playing their best hockey of the season so it should at least be entertaining.

Fisch was in tough situation

Fisch was in a tough situation with Jacksonville this season. His offense had a rookie quarterback, two rookie offensive linemen and three rookie wide receivers all starting or playing significant snaps.

Some people think he was the fall guy for HC Gus Bradley. The Jags were bad on offense this season but didn't have much to work with, having so many green players.

Players, including Blake Bortles, were shocked when they heard he was fired. I think he's a solid OC but a sacrificial lamb.

Either way, he has experience in major college football and the NFL. Seems like a decent candidate.

That's a good point. I like

That's a good point. I like the evening games getting done early but my wife - who loves football - doesn't appreciate me waking her up at 10 a.m. on Saturdays for Michigan games. She was all about noon kickoffs.

I'm with Harbaugh on this. A

I'm with Harbaugh on this. A good Ohio State team adds to the rivalry and enhances the conference's profile.

Like it or not, college football is still a sport governed by perception. A strong conference and division are good for Michigan if we really want a team that can compete for, and win, national championships.

That said, I won't be the least bit upset if Oregon runs Ohio State off the field and wins by 30.

I've got to represent MST.

I've got to represent MST. Having lived in New York the rest of my life, moving to Utah this past year opened my eyes to East Coast bias. It's real, man.

I'm looking forward to the

I'm looking forward to the first game next year because I recently moved to Salt Lake City and can basically walk to Rice-Eccles stadium from my new house.

Is it bad that this is so

Is it bad that this is so good that I'm still skeptical? Can't wait to see him in maize and blue.

Thank you for the reminder we

Thank you for the reminder we all take these things a little too seriously. I feel appropriately admonished for my miniature panic attack. Well done!

I very rarely post on this

I very rarely post on this site (as my point total will attest), but I visit every day and always read the comments and message boards. The vitriol on the site this year was a new and unpleasant development and I'm glad Brian is addressing the issue.

That being said, there isn't a better Michigan sports site and I'm thankful that Mgoblog exists. Kudos to Brian, Ace, Seth and everyone else that contributes to make this site such a success.

Of course the hookers are

Of course the hookers are nowhere to be found. Just as James planned all along...

They'll be available at

They'll be available at https://www.rithockey.com/ but I don't believe they're going to be up for sale for at least another week. Season tickets go on sale 8/12 so I imagine it won't be too long after.

Just wondering if you could

Just wondering if you could quantify what 300 rage is? Are we talking Hulk levels yet? I know we've been getting linemen with a nasty streak, but that still seems a bit high for Magnuson to be aiming.

Anyone going to the RIT game

Anyone going to the RIT game is welcome to come track me down! It's always a big event-Blue Cross Arena holds over 10,000 and it's been sold out the past two years. I'll be cheering for the Tigers though

While trying to navigate away

While trying to navigate away from this horrible news, I accidently bookmarked it. Not the thing I want to be able to find easily. I'm not past the denial stage yet!

Yeah, my general response to

Yeah, my general response to Iron Man 2 was the same.

Quite the day. Iron Man 3

Quite the day. Iron Man 3 trailer drops, Gardner gets his redshirt, Chavez dies, the Dow Jones breaks records. It's been a busy day on Twitter, that's for sure.

If Browns fans managed to get

If Browns fans managed to get Peyton Hillis on the cover of Madden, Michigan fans should be able to get Denard on the cover of NCAA 14. Do your civic duty - get out and vote!

I agree- the spread was

I agree- the spread was exciting and was certainly a change of pace after years of Lloydball. I think feeling at peace has more to do with the future under Hoke and Borges than it does disrespecting the spread.

I'm not entirely sure that's

I'm not entirely sure that's what Brian meant...but bravo nevertheless.

Having been a fan of Denard

Having been a fan of Denard doing Denard things, I never thought I would feel so blissfully at peace watching us line up in I-form, interior line deficiencies notwithstanding.
