“The player development is the main thing I like (about Michigan),” Williams said. “You can see that they develop their players. They get them in the gym and they work them hard. And their hard work pays off.”

|5 hours 38 min ago||I'm definitely getting a||
I'm definitely getting a sense of things coming together a bit. Key guys that were injured are expected back, we're hearing reports of things "clicking" for a few of the younger guys that seemed a bit lost last year, we have a shiny new OC who hopefully knows how to play to our strengths and opponents weaknesses, etc.
I really think injuries hurt us last year more than we realized because it was lost in the noise of the OL issues (I think some nagging injuries played a factor there as well). Just watching UTL II on BTN a couple nights ago, we just seemed to have so much more pop in our steps at the beginning of the season, particularly Gardner. He really was just a shell of himself by the end of the year.
On the other hand, I still think it's a big up-hill climb for a couple positions, specifically OL and TE. More experience, more time in the weight room, and a more coherent scheme will help, but it's probably unrealistic to expect them to make a 180 turnaround in one year, particalurly with two NFL departures.
I think we'll win the games we're supposed to win in more convincing fashion this year and show improvements in consistency throughout, but still struggle with teams at the top, which unfortunately at the moment includes all 3 of our rivals.

47 lbs of fat lost.
248*(1-27%)=181lbs of not-fat

19 lbs of muscle gained (assuming his bones and organs, etc stayed the same)

That's true, and true of most groups. My issue is the way they circle the wagons whenever one of them does something bad. If good cops were more willing to hold bad cops accountable like they should, then I'd be more inclined to be convinced by the couple of bad apples argument.

At this point, if he doesn't start, I can only assume it's some off the field issue because everything I've seen from him, going back to last fall camp even, has been pretty decent. Last year it was just barely plausible that he was a tackle and tackle only, considering how bad some of the other options were at guard, but with Lewan and Schofield graduated and another year to learn the system, I just can't see how he doesn't seen the field barring being in the dog house for some undisclosed reason.

Nice, good luck. I have no interest in the running race, but always wanted to do the MTB race. I've ridden some of the trails up there and the climbs are no joke, especially for my flat-lander lungs.
I don't know if you've figured out accomodations, I would highly recommend Leadville Hostel (they have private rooms if you don't want to bunk). You'll have a lot of other racers staying there to go train with, get beta from, etc. The owners, Wild Bill and Cathy are awesome, just straight up no-bullshit genuine people. And the whole place is at 10k, so it's perfect for acclimatization.

I used to do a trip to Colorado every year. We'd climb a few 14ers, mountain bike, fish, and hang out with people we met at the hostel. Leadville Hostel is at the intersection of several crazy endurance events and backpacking thru-hikes like Leadville 100, Colorado Trail and Continental Divide Trail, etc, so there was no shortage of interesting folks staying there every year.

I think VanGarderen just had the classic bad day after a rest day. Valverde's team pushed the pace hard to see if they could catch someone not feeling good and they did. Once Bardet got dropped too, it was full gas all the way to the finish for Pinot, Peraud, and Valverde looking to gain as much time as possible. If you look at the guys TJVG finished with it's pretty clear he wasn't really himself today. He easily dropped the likes of Van Den Brock and Rolland before, but couldn't even keep up with them today. Hopefully, it's just one bad day and not a sign of a bigger problem or illness.

Just to play devil's advocate, there's a fine line between maintaining tradition and being left behind. The blue hairs and alums love the traditional college football atmosphere of their youth, but the younger generation (including recruits) may leave the same experience underwhelmed. Now, Dave Brandon may be pretty tone-deaf in some of his moves, sure, but it's hard to argue that just continuing to do the same thing because that's what makes us different is a viable long term strategy in and of itself. We, as fans, need to give constant feed back on what works (UTL) and what doesn't (Bumblebeez unis), but IMO ludditism isn't the right answer either.
|6 days 26 min ago||Yeah, the winner being||
Yeah, the winner being decided isn't that big of a deal. The nice thing about cycling is there's always lots of prizes up for grabs and therefore multiple interesting side battles going on. The KOM jersey and Young Riders jersey competitions are still hotly contested. There's quite a logjam of riders trying to break into the podium spots right now, including three french riders for the first time in forever. The last two flat stages should have really exciting finishes. The top American VanGarderen seems to have lost his podium spot, but it'll be an interesting fight back into the top 5. Still lots and lots of rooting interests and catalysts for attacks and tactics to animate the race.

Thanks! Yeah, I'll probably do one more recap. Not sure if I'll do a stage by stage wrap up or just a complete recap of the whole race.

|1 week 3 days ago||I sort of do the same thing.||
I sort of do the same thing. I'll watch the opening segments while I get ready for work. They usually cover overnight developments, any post race inteviews from the day before, pre stage interviews from the current stage, etc... and also give the lay of the land as far as breakaways, time gaps, etc. Then I'll follow the live feeds until the either the last 15km for a flat stage, or the last climb in a mountain stage. When I get home (and occasionally during my lunch break) I'll fast forward through most of the stage, looking for the interesting bits I know happened from the live feed ticker, along with any other interesting segments and interviews. Then watch the last bit where I left off in the live feed normally. It's about 1-2 hours worth of entertainment which is about perfect, you get all the best parts without having to invest your entire evening and being innundated by the same commercials over and over.

There have been half a dozen Ukrainian military planes shot down over the last weeks. While it's possible it was all done with the same captured battery, it's more likely this is a more concerted effort to arm rebels by Russia. Also, there's the matter of where they learned to operate the weapons. It's not like these are RPGs, they're state of the art radar equipped AA stations, I doubt your average angry local separatist can just figure out how to operate these without some training.

I would assume they "got a hold of" it like they got a hold of a lot of their weapons and gear... i.e. they were supplied by Russia to forment unrest.

There's a big difference between calling guys out by name and saying the team didn't execute. Read, the article... Meyer is saying the coaches are publicly blaming individual players by name, which couldn't be farther from the truth.
Would I liked to see Borges take more responsibility for whacky schemes? Absolutely, but that doesn't mean that the players also didn't execute the plan they were given either. That's completely fair game to say "we didn't execute" and it's something that every coach has said at one point or another.

Urban Meyer's recruiting style gets the kind of player that recruiting style gets. Hoke's recruiting style gets the kind of player that recruiting style gets. And I'm OK with that.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking... why do I want to watch a bunch of lycra clad dudes ride around on bikes? It's seriously a very compelling sporting event filled with human drama and surprises though, even if you haven't ridden a bike since you were a kid. And the timing is perfect... it nicely fills in the summer doldrums between when hockey/basketball end, and when football camps/preseason starts back up.

I don't know if you can ever say it's 100% clean, but I think we can say pretty confidently the systemic doping of the LA era is long gone. Testing protocols are much better and more consistent and thorough. In addition to testing for banned substances they also track key biological markers/parameters so even if the athlete manages to mask the substance, any anomalous deviations from an established historical baseline can also get them into trouble. The risk of getting caught has gone way up and conversely, because it is actually possible to win and be clean again, the motivation to dope has also gone down somewhat.
