I found MGoBlog right before…

I found MGoBlog right before the 2006 season when everyone was so excited Ron English was the new DC. We all know what's happened since then. I lurked until 2009 when I finally made an account. A few post/points but haven't posted in years.

I found so much solace knowing everyone at MGoBlog was going through the same emotions as I was during the dark times.

Thanks for everything Brian and company!

I will take these off your…

I will take these off your hand if they are not already spoken for:

It has been my favorite place to work

The only reason I'm leaving is to go back to grad school.

Cellaring

As far as cellaring goes, I would dedicate a fridge (or mini fridge) to beers you want to age. Set it to around 50-55F.

If you don't have access to a dedicated beer fridge, try to keep it in an area that holds as constant a temperature as possible (for most people it is in their basement) and in a closed door cabinet or box. The most important things to remember:

1. Don't let it come into contact with sunlight

2. Keep it as constant a temperature as possible.

So your garage is probably not a great place.

As far as how long you should cellar a bottle, it depends on the beer. For example, I have some '13 and '14 KBS in my collection, and a few other Barrel-Aged goodies. I'll try to cellar them for a while and maybe do a vertical tasting if I am able to get my hands on some '11 and '12 KBS.

IPAs don't really age well, because one of the first flavors to go are the hoppy floral notes. The fresher the better for IPAs.

I think beers that derive their flavor from malts and/or non perishable adjuncts and additives age the best. The flavors change dramatically. I like to drink a bottle of KBS as fresh as possible, cellar one for a year and see what it tastes like.

I think stouts and porters age the best, but cellaring a Backwoods Bastard would be fun, too.

Deli

I actually work in the deli. Luckily they do a great job educating all of the employees on the beer, going so far as to provide classes on beer styles, the brewing process, etc.

I work at Founders

So I may be a little biased, but I think Founders my favorite place in the world. Everyone who works there is like family to me, and Dave and Mike (co-founders) treat everyone as equals. It's really great. The amount of free beer I've been able to consume there is mind-boggling.

All of this being said, Backwoods Bastard (the barrel-aged brother of Dirty Bastard) is my favorite beer there. It's complex, and sweet, and very well balanced. And if you aged it for a while, it is a completely different beer.

Double trouble (a double IPA) is also one of my favorties. You really get the hoppy flavor, but it is balanced very well by the malt.

And I will take a centennial over a Two-Hearted any day of the week. Although Two-Hearted is also outstanding. But as I stated, I might be a little biased...

UM Hockey walk-on Luke Glendening plays hero for GR Griffins

Terrible headline, but former UM walk-on hockey player Luke Glendening has been playing VERY well for the GR Griffins:

Hockey's version of Kovacs?

Poor Ace

I feel bad for Ace.

It's going to take him forever to get all twelve of the Hello posts up!

EDIT: Sorry, this was in response to nyc_wolverine. I don't know why it posted here...

Red Shirt

Yeah, there isn't much information on him. His MGoBlue Profile just says "redshirted."

He turned down offers from Ball St. and the Bobcats.

THE KNOWLEDGE

THE KNOWLEDGE does not need to hit shift. He types with his mind.

Either that or he just copies and pastes THE KNOWLEDGE.

RJS

I agree with you. I think I read somewhere that the coaches are recruting RJS as a Mike as well. I'm not sure about Ringer.

Additionally, I think we will miss RVB as much as we miss Martin and Molk.

Next year's d-line scares me a little.

Hidden problem?

I'm sorry, was there a problem besides the did-the-ball-cross-the-plane-before-the-runner-was-down problem?

I've noticed that Chantel Jennings and other MSM-ish types have appropriated the Lloyd Brady meme as well. It's pretty crazy to think about MGoBlog's far reaching power.

Ok

So then how can you argue that fans overrate coaches when last year's coaches obviously did not place an emphasis on fundamentals and were thus terrible at tackling? Mattison and his staff obviously placed an emphasis on tackling and, lo and behold, are better at tackling.

Is it not the coaches who decide what to emphasize?

I guess I'm having trouble understanding this part of your argument.

Watching film

Didn't Mattison say that he was surprised that the players didn't know what to look for when they were watching film? That is directly attributed to poor coaching from last year's staff.

Additionally, last year the defense did not seem to improve throughout the season. Mouton was especially guilty of making the same mistakes for three straight years. This year, Jake Ryan and Countess and Morgan are all making strides and improving every game. They are learning from their mistakes. Mattison is directly responsible for that and is definitely worth more than the 20 spot improvement you arbitrarily give him

Lions sign Greg Banks

Sorry for thread jacking, but I don't have enough points to start my own. I didn't see this anywhere, but according to Tom Kowalski, the Lions signed UFA Greg Banks.

Tom mentions the pertinent information halfway through the article.
