When comparing individuals rather than a whole defense, the total defensive stats are not very relevant. I agree with you that our defense is SO much better than MSU's but it's hard to say, "you're wrong by not saying each individual on our defense is better than theirs because our defense as a whole is so much better than theirs." I think that's what you're argument was.
I think about Michigan St wide receiving crew that couldn't catch a ball a couple years ago. I think we'll be fine. New quarterback and also we don't have that Jeremy Gallon go-to guy that can catch a ball to relax the other WRs.
